Arc the Lad 2 was pretty challenging to me. You should try that out for sure if you already haven’t.

I also say that Super Mario RPG is really overrated as well, but I don’t think people consider that to be a prime RPG anyways.

That game is ridiculous in a good way. You have some of the most broken characters in an RPG, and even then most of them barely even scratch the final boss.
If you didn’t break your characters, you had no fucking chance to even beat the game.

That game kicked my ass almost all the way through. I recall it taking me around 2 hours of careful planning (during the fight) to beat the last boss…

Chrono Trigger: I personally feel its one of the best games out there. Sure, its not even slightly challenging, but the journey is just amazing.

I like Arc the lad II, but never finished it. I would always save in the middle of a dungeon or something like that, then I would stop playing for a while and when I started back up I always forgot while way I was suppose to go >_<. So I would usually just start over from the beginning…over and over again. Never got close to the ending though (I think I only got about 27ish hours into the game before I quit and started over).:tdown:
Actually…I never finished any Arc the Lad game. I played ATL3 first and quit right when I got to the second disk because it was hard to understand what was going on since I didn’t play the older games. Then after watching the anime on youtube, I played the first one…almost beat it (about 11 hours in…maybe 2 fights left before I finished the game), but gave up because I thought it was boring compared to ATL3. Then I started playing ATL2. I played ATL: Twilight of the spirits too, but quit that game cause it got too hard after “they” started working together. I love RPGs, just haven’t finished any of them recently. Right now, I’m playing Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness (PSP)…it’s a lot of fun so hopefully I’ll play this through til the end

Play Arc the Lad 1 then convert your data from that game into the the second one. You can honestly beat the first game with ease in like, 10 - 12 hours?
If I recall though, things like levels and so forth carry over into the next. I think the levels that you keep are scaled down though after the transfer.
Ah, a fellow FF8 fan. I’ve been scorned by many by stating that FF8 was indeed a good game.
