My parents still live there, and I visit often. When I go down there next, I’ll bust your ass for a little bit.
Just how it is homey. When I was in high school, I played football. All 4 years we would get to the NCS(Northern California Section) championships. All 4 years we got beat by a high school called De La Salle. Some of you guys might not know who they are, but for 20 years USA Today and Sports Illustrated named them the best team in the nation. 20 years. It was to the point that there was honestly no point any team would go to the championships that year or even play them in season. When I say best team in the nation for 20 years, I actually meant that they haven’t lost a game in 20 years. This was unprecedented for any team. The year after I graduated, the team left the league and joined their own league. They were at the time, I don’t know about now, able to play any team they wanted no matter how far it was. Hawaii(I went to that game), different states and different cities.
Anyway, this team was a private school and they recruited players from outside the county/district. Then the same year after I graduated. They played this team down in Santa Ana called Mater Dei. Mater Dei was a public school but what they lacked in recruiting they had in talent. There was something like 120 kids on their football team(no cuts in California High School sports). Because there were sooooo many people, there was a lot of talent. De La Salle won that game by 3 in the 4th. It was a close game, I caught it on TV.
The point I am trying to make from this extremely long story is that any area that has a lot of people playing certain games, ie. LA area, New York, San Francisco area, there is a greater chance of more people playing and getting to higher levels of skill. Impact Clash 2 was a big deal, it looked like a regular tournament in nor cal. There just isn’t that many people playing SF and shit here in the ATL.
Dont worry cool-breeze just work on yourself and your skill and you can be the stand out player.
And Shin try to open it in a place that doesn’t close a 8-9 pm.
saddly yes and when you leave oh no…let me know when your free again cause i need to get some games in with you soon.
you need two sticks to work on the ps3 and 360 or just one??anyways just pm and we can start the process.
cough me and a friend can try to make a bootleg sf4 cab… its an idea he presented to me awhile back dont know if you would consider that. actually we can make a bunch of bootleg cabs to run multiy games and we had the same idea but not the money or the scene support you have. just an idea
i dont know wat happened either. i changed out my stick and after dat it would work properly. eventually it wouldnt work:confused::crybaby:. so now i dont have a stick for 360.:crybaby::crybaby: i know exactly how you feel now eddie.
Larry,
you opening an arcade would be an answer to one of my prayers. its something we need and i would support it as long as all the cabs have jap parts in 'em:rofl: im kidding man.
but do consider wat jason(kakarot) said about the economy. if you feel that you can make it it happen, then do it and you kno ATL got yo back.
Not going to buy a next gen system that on average cost $300-$400 just to play 1 game. not really an investment worth making. Personally speaking SFIV is the last game I plan to get serious about. I’m not a gamer to the point where I get hyped as fuck every time there is a new game coming out. KOFXII, Blazeblu all look nice, and if I play them fine. But I’m not going to go out and actually get a next gen system to play them. If I never play them, I really don’t give a shit.
SO. The PC is definitely up my alley. I already have the medium to play the game, and all I need to do is invest in a stick. And just about every system has a USB converter, and XBOX/PS3 controllers work natively on the computer, just need a driver.
ShinBlanka:
If this project ever materializes, I don’t know, maybe an afternoon open time and a midnight close time would be sufficient. The Underground has these issues, as it opened up at 10 AM and closed at 9. From at least 10 AM to 2 PM, the arcade was virtual empty. So I would think a Noon or 2 PM open time and maybe a 10-11 PM close time would be better. But then again, if you open it up in a mall, you’re bound to their schedule. Which is why places like Gamewarp were always better, because they had their own space that they leased, and could determine their own hours.
But just a suggestion from a potential consume, take it or leave it. Plus, I’m being rather presumptious
I was talking about on Xbox Live. I don’t typically invite people over to my house for reasons that will remain my own.
Iceman: Originally, I wasn’t going to take Street Fighter IV seriously in lieu of further Virtua Fighter training, but I can have my cake and eat it too. If you’re looking for someone else to help you protect Georgia’s dignity, I’m willing to donate my newbie enthusiasm to your cause.
Honestly, Larry, if you do open an arcade, I will seriously stop having gatherings at my house permanently, due to the fact that I would never be at my place because there is an arcade lol(especially if you have Alpha gameshint hint). Id also be very willing to help out whatever way I could. It is exactly what this community needs.
And as far as SFIV goes, I would play that shit so much. I don’t care if it doesn’t have the console characters. I mean, shit, I’m going to drive an hour north to play it today at an arcade. I did it again last week. If I was out here in Cali longer I’d do it again.
Does anyone here play the console characters exclusively?
Well speaking for myself. Ive wanted to take the game more serious and play with the better players (ie. East Point guys ), but for the last 2 or 3 months everytime i asks for the address no one gives me a answer. so i said fuck it and went back to beating the shit out of my friends (who suck) & playing other games. Lol!
What side of town are you on?
@ Brahn. What side of town you on dude? Ill game with you sometimes.
We can’t just give out somebody else address dude.
That’s why you post up, exchange digits and go from there, if it were my home I’d have no problem with it but East Point Crew does not post on SRK so we always ask permission for such things first.
I’m more than willing to host sessions and out of towners in my house. Whatever it takes to really level up in this game.
Lil Kong I’m new to SF and SRK in general and I know most the East Point guys don’t even go on this forum, since most of them are on the 3D gaming forums such as 8wayrun.com and tekkenzaibatsu.com. I don’t know their address to the spot off the top of my head but I can easily get it for you if you want to session there. I live in northern atlanta in Marietta so if your on the way and need a ride, i’d be willing to pick you or anyone else who’s interested up.
I’m aware that NY and NorCal and SoCal all have established groups that play and that pool of talent leads them to have an overall greater exposure, sharpening of talent and skill in the game. I just think that we could get that in ATL as well, it’ll take time and effort more so than NY and such places, since we’d have to kinda start from scratch but that’s what it takes.
BranH, if you want a money match sure man I’m up for it, but I’m more interested in establishing a scene than playing money matches but I’m always down to game man.
I like SF4 a lot, and I definately want to keep getting better and take on people from NY and Cali and Tx, and I’m pretty open to suggestions and doing what it takes to get that started here in the A
I thought the same thing about the console characters, but I have seen quite a few Gen’s and some Sakuras. Those are really the only ones. I played against a Rose at FR…And got bitched slapped .
Ill change it up tonight sir sorry about that, all are welcomed to join my team as well, I will be at east point trying to have my first match live lol
juan im still coming 2row and i can look at it or fix it 2row.i can do some modding and get it running asap. just let me know cause i can fix or replace the pcb for cheap. like $10 is all its gonna cost.
