Ga Thread (Home of Final Round and them jump out boys!)

Honestly, since they dropped Virtua Fighter, there’s little need for me to go to Impact Clash either. These events combined with the piss-poor venue…yeah, no, count me out.

Like I said minor tournaments, should be 1 day, 10$ at the door, 5 for the game you enter. No one is going to pay full price for a hotel for a local.

Edit: go to tournaments events. I went through threads of other tournaments, even the ones that will have a major turnout with a bigger cash prize. And guess what, Impact Clash is the only tournament on that fucking page with a 20 door fee. WTF?

I agree with the fact that Magnicious should have at least made it out, AT LEAST for a couple of hours. His situation reminds me of my situation during IC2. It was on a Saturday and I had to work also. I could not get off to save my life. I got off of work at 9pm, and wanna know what I did…I got directly into my car and I didnt even go home. I went straight to the tourney which for me was 1 HOUR away. I got there at 10 pm and I was only able to enjoy the tourney for 2 hours because they closed at midnight. I could have as easily said fuck the tourney, I got off too late. FUCK THAT SHIT…I want to support the scene so I made the sacrifice of driving 1 hour for an event that was about to end. FINAL ROUND being the super major that it is, I know that after work Mag could have driven himself to FR and made the necessary sacrifice the way Larry has made necessary sacrifices for the IC tourneys.

You were not obligitated to come because they did not need you, but you WERE obligated to come because of your duty to show respect not only to Larry, but to the community as a whole.

I agree with you on that. This being only a local tourney, the door fee should not be $20. Im fine with major games like 3s, SFIV, etc. being $10, but minor games should be $5.

Yea you asked me if you could be a part of the FR12 staff and I said no. I said no, but that didn’t mean you shouldn’t come and pop your head in there and supported the ATL scene that has supported your IC tournaments.:wtf: I don’t know why you didn’t come and I don’t care. If you was busy then you was busy and that’s fine sir. I understand people have lives besides videogames. I’m just wondering what are your motives are hayward. I’m not taking what trey is saying into this convo. I’m just observing your actions and coming to my own thought’s on your actions.

You asked me if you could be a part of the FR12 staff, so you could learn how to run a "Good" tournament since there was always some kind of drama with how your tournaments are ran/handled. Those are your words to me hayward. You didn’t come at me like you just wanted to help out in anyway possible. You came to me like you wanted to sit on my hip and learn everything I know about tournament organizing. I’ve sent you pm’s and talked to you on several times and i’ve already told you everything I know about organizing tournaments. If you don’t know by now you will never know sir!

Take this person for example:

Dark Geese: I told him I had enough people to run snk games at FR12 and he still came to support the scene and he lives in texas! He even helped Jdash with running the snk games at FR12 even when I told him before the tournament at his help wasn’t needed. He recorded every match on his laptop and gave me a copy at the end of the event. He didn’t have to help me with shit at FR12 since I told him not to help, but he did it anyways! That’s love for the community and that’s what I haven’t seen from you sir.

I’m not trying to hate on you man because I don’t really know you very well hayward. I also don’t hate you like trey does, so i’m looking at things from a fair view imo. Giving trophies out to a Waba tournament for a monthly that is the quals for IC4 IS NOT SHOWING LOVE TO THE ATL SCENE! That’s just a promotional ploy to get people to attend IC4. I had people asking me when is the next IC tournament at fr12 and I told them to look on the forums and ask you sir. I told them it was in april, but check online for more details. They figured I was on the IC4 staff since i’ve helped you out at every IC tournament they been too.

I’m not going to spread rumors or anything like that hayward, because that ain’t my style. I will say that your actions are leading people in the ATL to BELIEVE that IC is more about your pockets and not about the ATL fighting game scene. Love for the scene is more than the 40 bucks you gave me at IC3 for running hd remix and $20 you didn’t charge me for the door fee’s. My time is worth WAY MORE than that sir. I really wanted to just chill and play sf4 all day long at IC3, but I saw you needed serious help with the tournament so I volenteered to run HD remix.

I’ve given you all of the advise I can on how to run a good tournament man. It’s up to you to pull it off now, but when I get random people asking me why IC3 ran so late and will IC4 run as smoothly as FR I have to take myself out of helping run things at IC. People see me and think IC my tournament when it’s not. IC is your baby and I make sure people know that when they ask me about IC. We do need a local tournament in the ATL and I was glad you had started the IC tournaments, but I can’t be apart of IC anymore.

Good luck with your future events sir and I hope there is no ill will between us. I’m just stating was i’ve seen over the past 3 IC’s. I don’t know why you didn’t come to FR12, but i’m sure you had a good reason. You say you have alot of respect for me and FR, but you don’t show up to atleast say hello or Good luck for the weekend?:wtf: Someone that has love for the community would have showed up atleast once to say good luck. I don’t know what else to say sir. I’ll end it like this. Good luck with all of your future events! I may come to IC4 just to see old friends if they come down, but that’s about it sir. That’s if I don’t have a job by that time and don’t have to work!

Spoken like a true man. Having a local tourney is a great thing. However, when that local tourney shows absolutely no love towards the community then it will fail. Your actions must speak louder than your words Hayward.

I thought it was kinda judgmental too… Doesn’t seem like a lucrative community to exploit either… No offense anyone but I know I am pretty fickle haha

sigh

I would enjoy impact clash more if it is a one day event with less games so that it can be run more efficiently. 20 dollar entry fee really is too much for most of my friends, and a hotel room on top of that makes it out of the question for them.

Just wanted to pop my head in hear real quick and give a quick <3 to all of the GA crew that I met and played at FR + Raph :3

Kiyo, Mas, and Raph - COME TO AWA NEXT YEAR!!! D:

Point taken and I am sorry I couldn’t attend. There was so many things going on this weekend like me working, my car not being functional, etc. etc. I really couldn’t make it out there. I would’ve loved to have came out. I came out to Waba on Thursday the day before because I was off. That whole weekend I wasn’t off! I couldn’t take it off my manager wouldn’t let me. I am telling you guys I would love to have came through and said what’s up. But it’s not fair that I am being judged purely on this. I really wanted to come and I feel terrible I couldn’t. As far as trying to fill my pockets as you continue to say over and over again tournament directing is not a super lucrative thing. I did not get the room for free. I have no clue what you are talking about. I know the guy who rented the room to me but he did not give it to me for free. I had to pay for it. Why does stuff like that even matter? I’m not trying to move into Larry’s territory. He has a prescience here that’s definitely unwavering and there’s no one that can take away from that.

The only reason the entry is that price is because the venues I’ve had are not cheap by any means. They have to be paid for to pave the way for another tournament. If I ran it out of a LAN center like Computer Arena or Waba then having a lower entry like that’s no problem since they will work with me. But having a tournament at a convention center or a professional spot you are going to have to pay that high of a price for a room. As far as two days, after what happened at Impact 2 that’s when I decided to make it two days. I will take these comments into consideration though. But if a tournament doesn’t at least break even then there’s problems with running another one. It is a local tournament, it’s always been local and as of right now I have no plans of it ever being more than just a local tournament.

It is a minor tournament. Heck it’s been around for less than a year. I really couldn’t control my work schedule. I wish I could’ve came through and saw what was up but now I’m being crucified for it.

I do this purely for the community. At Impact 3 all of my staff that was at the front did not know what they were doing. I had to step in and manually enter in all the bracket info myself after they collected all the entry fees etc. for the games. The staff I had up front messed it up really bad. Thus, I had to sit there and make the brackets all myself. I didn’t have much of any help at the front part. There were those of you who ran brackets and I appreciate it but near the end of the night Eric V., Justin Wong, and a few others stepped in and helped me run the brackets and get everything going. I truly made an effort to move forward and that’s why continue on Eric V. and Kaptial have began helping me with the tournament and getting it in line. Trust me, I would’ve loved to come through Final Round.

I have no car at the moment and I worked 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. How in the heck could I have made it out there? I had no car at all; my car has been messed up for over a week and a half now. I didn’t think I had to spill out all of my business here but if I could’ve made it I definitely would of. There would be no way at 11 p.m. I could make it all the way out to the tournament any of those days unless I had someone pick me up and drive me out there.

My motives have been as pure as day 1. I just couldn’t make it to the tournament. I really wanted to go to the tournament but I couldn’t make it out there. I had no car and I got off mad late all three days of the tournament. I would’ve loved to have gone to the tournament but I couldn’t.

When I said I want to learn how a “good tournament” was ran I was simply giving you a nod stating that your tournament is epic and I would feel more than honored to be on staff and learn how it’s ran. I wasn’t just saying I wanted to be on staff purely just because I wanted to be at a good tournament. I didn’t mean for it to come out that way at all. I really wanted to come through and help with running something or at least be there to see how you run things try to implement some of the ways. I by no means was just saying I wanted to only come purely just cause you had a major. I didn’t know that was the way you understood it when I said it but I apologize deeply.

Take this person for example:

Point taken and I understand.

Yeah and I appreciate your help and everyone who has helped me. It’s just I have been getting misunderstood ever since this whole ordeal went down at IC2. I want to help build the scene and I definitely would’ve came through had it not been for all the stuff that happened to me within the past week or so. I’m sorry and yes, I made mistakes. But the huge reason for this monthly is to help Waba’s scene more so than my own. I just thought that by saying it was an IC4 qualifier it would get more people to come through his spot and therefore, allow his scene to grow. The same way you helped me out in the beginning is the same way I was hoping to help him (Waba) out and hopefully he’d help out whomever tries to start out from there as well.

Well I will say that I am happy that all of you have pointed out the error in my ways. I really apologize for making all of you think this but Larry you know as well as I do that tournament directing is not the most lucrative thing out there. If you are doing it purely for money, there was way more things you could invest your time into it for. You know that and I know that. At Impact Clash 1 I actually lost money, a whole lot of money but did that stop me? No, the same like when like you stated at that Nidel interview that one of the Final Rounds you lost so much money that your phone line and lights were cut off. But again, what does the expenses you or I incur have to do with the community. Even if you lost money on FRXII isn’t the joy of seeing all those people come through your event and be happy enough? The same like how I feel every time I’ve had an Impact Clash. It’s always been about the community since day 1 although I am beginning to understand what you guys mean when you say that my actions have proven different.

Well unfortunately sometimes you have to learn how to do the right thing by doing the wrong thing. And that’s just a lesson I had to learn. I appreciate you for your help throughout all this time.

No ill blood, I just have to work that much harder to get myself out of this hole I’ve dug myself into unfortunately. I thank you for all your help and will continue to support this scene going forward.

Point taken.

Ha ha ha, agreed.

Fyi

It is all about the community, and Mags def needs to show love to the community, not just with the big things but also the small ones! (like showing up to support FRX)
I def understand the principal behind that.

Also I will be dealing directly with Hayward to help get him on track with things…my only goal on this coast is to strengthen all of our community’s, and I have so much respect for people like Larry and Cool Breeze for not just throwing in the towel on IC4, but to give Mags a chance to recognize his mistakes and turn that around, because in the end it is better to have an event happen than not too.

I will be coming down to this with my peoples to help give healthy comp and support to the Southern Atlantic Division.

Hope to see you all @ IC4!

-Eric V

Whatcha’ mean, bro?

I’m not totally out on Impact Clash, but unless shit changes drastically, you won’t see me there. It’s a bit too much to ask to expect the same treatment from Impact Clash that Final Round gets. Make Impact Clash a one-day event with five or six games. I suggest that you stick to Street Fighter IV, HD Remix, 3rd Strike, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Super Smash Bros. Melee, and Tekken.

Metalmike and I are going to have a meeting this Saturday about a new direction for Impact Clash (and myself) so just stay tuned in the thread. It’s going to be switched up very soon.

I need you to contact me asap we are all on aim chat and I need a few match videos for the dvd can you help me out please??

Im glad we made it through this with no casualties lol. Work is more important than videogames any day. With all this said, expect me at IC4!!! SFIV is the hypest game ever made shawty!!

Magnicious, you always came off as being overly-ambitious from the start. You clamored on about wanting to do something small to help the scene come alive and grow, but everything you’ve done so far has contradicted your initial plans. You haven’t really tried to run a small event yet. Like Trey J already said, you need to run these like local tournaments, which you haven’t. A local isn’t 50+ games at a large location over several days. Not to mentiom looking to get sponsors at every event. Doesn’t sound like a small event to me. I don’t know why that’s hard for you to figure out. If you don’t want this to be a minor event then just come out and let it be known in the open. At least have the decency to give everyone that much respect. All it looks like is that you’re trying to use Larry, to push him out even though he’s gone out of his way to help you and your events out.

It’s funny, I was just asking other people about you a few weeks ago since I honestly hadn’t seen you post anything since IC3. Now you want to pull this stunt and come from nowhere announcing IC4 and expecting everything to be okay. It wouldn’t have killed you to at least show up to Final Round to see everyone. That was too much like the right thing to do though. I don’t really know how else you could slap Larry in th face at this point.Honestly, you’ve completely disrespected Larry and offended everyone involved in the immediate community.

Don’t think I want you to fail either. If you want to do something good for the scene, then do it. Just make sure your genuine about it. You’ve got a lot of work ahead of you to build trust back, so save your excuses and empty apologies, because no one really cares to hear that crap. Start showing us something and try to earn some respect back.

I thought you were busy being retired?

We’ll get on some next time we meet up. Good seeing you again man.

Whoa, man. You caught me just in time; I was just about to delete all the tourney match vids from my hard drive, since I have them all uploaded.

I have yahoo messenger; I’m almost always on, although the connection at home has been sucking as of late so I’ll probably catch you tomorrow (I’ll be milking the college’s wi-fi all day).

Nice seeing you work that Juggy, Hulk and Colossus, man. You seem pretty experienced, so I’m gonna have to do some casuals with you sometime so I can learn some more. Remember me, I was the dude with the Ruby, Akuma and Morrigan. Low-tier is all I do, so I gotta get that zen state, ya know.
