So far, I’m tentatively planning to enter KOFXII and ST. Perhaps MBAA too…
Question: Will the PS2 exclusive characters be allowed in the MBAA tourney? I’m interested in seeing what Ryougi Shiki can do (and to a lesser extent, Seifuku Akiha assuming that her move set is somewhat different from the other two versions of her). Also wondering if there’s a playable, non-broke version of Dust of Osiris.

Im wondering how the venue fee is $10.
I know this venue fee isn’t more than $400 and given numbers from previous tournies, $10 stands to be about $100 - $200 profit for whoever booked the venue.
Boycotting the tourney eventhough I literally live down the street unless theres a reasonable explanation.
Reasonable explanation being people who want to boycott the tournament.
…and yes console exclusive MBAA characters will be open for use assuming we get news from any time during release to this tournament that they are too good for console. Which I doubt.

Yes 10$ venue fee is over the top as this is a major tourney with potential high numbers for SF4 entress
me and my friend rented out this venue in June for smashbros and sf4 venue costed $360.
Im pretty sure more then 36 entrees will be coming to SF4 alone as the sf gta community is strong. So i would also like to know why is the venue fee $10
If you are exploiting people passion for a gain then good luck on trying to get a major tourney running with attendants to show up.

What’s funny is that me and the other financial backers of this event were worried we were going to lose money on this.
Thing is, with all the other tourneys that are bound to pop up around the date we chose, we figured quite a chunk of the SF4 scene wouldn’t show up.
With $10 per person, we would need 36 people to break even. To me and the others that was already a bit iffy.
With $5 we would need 72 people. Now that’s a little too ambitious for my tastes.
Since this is IH first maiden voyage, we figured we’d have to demonstrate that we can run a hype tourney being relatively new and all. Not that G3 hasn’t run stuff before, but most of the SF4 newbloods don’t know about us.
However, if there is interest, and people show up in droves, then I’m willing to take a hit for the scene.

My thoughts are that you can start listening to these people when they blow $400 on a tourney.
Until then, keep the venue prices as you see fit so that you minimize your chances of a loss.
This is what we discussed. The two of you that are complaining about this are not guaranteeing me any numbers. It is only merely conjecture. We are definitely not out to exploit anyone and we made the $10 entry with the expectation that that should be enough to break even.
As Anant said and Josh said, this is our first foray into paying for a venue and trying to host a tournament there. All of our tournaments have been run out of basements for free. We’re not sure about the numbers and no one is guaranteeing our success. People deciding to boycott this tournament (for whatever reason) is precisely why a $10 entry fee per person is required.
For the 3 years I’ve been here, I’ve rarely gotten support outside of the connections we have made personally (how many people know who we are or even give a damn?), other than Justin and Anant who always bring new people to our tournaments. I’m more than willing that if the scene proves me wrong this year, I’ll ensure that next year everything will be much better.
