eiSH - you wokeup fse in one of your flash metroid games, does that ever work against meaties? I know you can punish Kunai vortex with it, but I was under the impression it was almost always a bad idea other than for going through fireballs.
The thing about FSE is that it moves you forward. For the same reason that I do c.LK or c.MP under some jumpins, it avoids crossup / mixup.
6:40ish I play a Loser’s Finals match against an Akuma/Guile player where you can see wakeup ultra working against Akuma vortex (I forget which match it was T_T). Oh yeah… Don’t pay attention to the Grand Finals -_-; I hate the Fei Long matchup for Juri =(
Ahhh I see. It happens around ~16:55 if anyone else is looking for it.
Cool, will have to experiment with that.
who do yall think are Juri’s 5 most difficult matchups in 2012 ? Not YOUR worst matchups, but Juri, the character’s, worst matchups.
Input / comments?
Sakura - She gets to jump in almost for free. Her jumpin mixup is heavily in her favor for most options. Once Juri is knocked down, her poor wakeup game is accentuated by LK Tatsu mixups, as that will beat ex parry.
E. Honda - Hondas normals are too good for Juri to deal with most often. She has one good AA - Far Standing Fierce - that will beat all of Honda’s jumpins, but it has a slow startup. You can zone him, but if he gets the life lead he can keep Juri out very easily.
Those are the only ones I’m pretty sure of, and I might be wrong about Honda. Others I feel like might be a bad matchup: Cammy, Rufus, Vega, Dan (He’s got the same nasty tatsu problems that Sak does, but they don’t lead in to as much damage and his jumpins are worse)
Honda and Sakura are completely bronko. Everyone else she can handle.
I don’t think there’s a legit Top5, as all her other bad matchups are workable and it comes down to how good you can do certain things.
Akuma/Cammy/Rufus/Guile/Seth/Dictator/Blanka/etc are all matchups which are annoying and not in her favour,
but which of these are worse than others is fairly impossible to tell imo.
In general, I think her numbers http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/2845/tierlist14.png here are fairly accurate.
Some stuff might be off by a .5, but overall this should paint the correct picture.
Hmm…I have a lot of experience vs a Honda that placed out of pool at the last two EVO’s and personally I dont feel that the matchup is that horrible. That being said, ive never played a Mike Ross Honda with Juri.
Thanks for the responses though guys, appreciated.
Cammy, Fei Long, Sakura, Adon, Honda. Outside those 5? DJ, Vega, Ken.
Based on players I’ve played either offline (tournaments) or online (high bp).
Can we talk DeeJay vs. Juri? I got to fight a DeeJay player this weekend in an online tournament. Tips? Dos and Don’ts. I know the match but far from have it mastered, so even if it’s basic information, I’d like to hear it.
Zone and watch meter like always. Meaty cr.lk gives enough time to not be hit by wake ex sobat nor wake up ex mgu and you know lows avoid up kicks. Deejay has a terrible throw range like cammy so he nearly always has to walk forward to tick throw. Empty jumps beat most of his AA normals (st.mp, far hp, sweep). The knee is AA’able lol.
What do you have trouble with in the matchup? I think its even for Juri. He has terrible OSs. Terrible footsies. Safe jumping = fuzzy mix up. I think when he plays lame it really throws off her game tho. I dont know exactly.
Hows the cody-deejay matchup? Or sagat- deejay?
Problem I am having (since I ran the match a bunch yesterday) is that I really can’t keep him out all that well. Or at least not well enough. Once he’s in, I have a hell of a time keeping a good DeeJay away.
Cody/DeeJay match is so different (and IMO, much easier). I just get in and do my magic typically. I don’t think DeeJay can zone Cody well at all. Dunno Sagat/DeeJay because I never really play Sagat anymore (a handful of matches in the last year at best).
I fucking hate the Deejay match with a passion. Easily my least favourite matchup. That short hop and slide have ridiculous active frames that always blow up anything I do. And dreadkicks for days, is there anything that Juri can do to punish it or do I actually have to sit there and eat those
Lk sobat is -5 at best so maybe far lk or far mk lol. So thats a frame punish. I personally like to just store right after. At best he gets tagged/knocked down for using a normal. At worst you get tagged by his cr.mk. Backdash after too.
She can cr.mp the jump knee so he cant really jump but timing could be an issue for juri and at worst you can always block the knee and let him space himself out with whatever block string he does.
Also @ramma I’ve heard from some deejay players that the matchup could slightly be in Cody’s favor. 5.5-ish. He has bad normals and frame traps give him hell. Thats all I know.
I would just run a typical Juri game on him. Try to force him into a fireball war. Sneak a lk or ex low fireball on him and get life lead. Force him to come to you. Just have to watch meter. I cant give the best detailed matchup analysis though. Thats all on the deejay player. Ex sobat is what im mostly scared of even when im watching for it i seem to get tagged lol. When hes in on her. Theres not much to worry about. Bad frame traps, no over head and bad throw range makes blocking really easy.
Counter pick with Chun. That is all. >.>
Lol I don’t have that option
Hey guys, want to ask what is Juri’s best and worst match up? I’ve decided to switch my alt to main so I guess I’ll be hanging around here more often.
I’m going to start to hit the labs with Juri after a long break, starting with her gameplans.
Honda, Sakura, Guile, and Rufus are probably her worst matchups imo.
We literally did this on page 23.
Ah yea. I went back and saw it. I just skimp through and saw mainly match up discussions.Thought it was just match ups in general.
How about her best match ups?
This is in response to a post up a little while ago, but the Ibuki matchup on at least mid level seems to be slightly in her favor. Both characters have to play yomi because a whiffed or blocked move is normally a punishable move. For example, Juri can Ex Senpusha in the middle of Ibukis rekkas. DO NOT use lk pinwheel as a combo ender vs Ibuki. She will put you on your back and make you suffer her vortex (which is where alot of Juri players get owned ). Set up Ibuki for alot of untechable knockdowns for a safe jump setup. As long as she has no meter she can’t DP you on wakeup because it lacks invincibility frames (except EX DP) so use st.lk on her wakeup to keep that pressure there. When meter develops for either characters, stay on your toes. Be careful of plasma chucking since Ibukis neckbreaker (especially EX) will connect on reaction. Have fireballs ready for use later on in the match. Also keep in mind that Ibuki can air grab so she actually beats your jump in where your jf,mp and jf.hp mixed in with your anti airs can beat her jump in. I’d put this matchup at a 6-4 in Ibukis favor due to her hitbox making it impossible to fuzzy her.
