Full Metal Stick

I like this. I’d buy one of your final revisions if the price wasn’t too rediculous.

Hey deci quick revision on what i said earlier we use lacryl on plastics such as acrylic or lexan but the paint used on metal surfaces is actually a blend of acrylic and enamel

ahh acrylic and enamel. ok thanks. hey is there lexan on top of yours or is that just the painted alluminum? if it’s just the aluminum… then how did you hide those screws lol? oh and how well does the paint hold up to hands rubbing against it all the time during use?

arsenal, thanks for the interest. i have no idea what the final price we would sell for might be but it won’t be ridiculous. probably will just depend on how cheap we can figure out to get all the parts and everything.

All Aluminum! the only screws on top are under the black joystick ring.Fingerprints, well i was gonna wax it this weekend.

Quick edit: Also the paint has a hardener in it. it Holds up pretty well and believe it or not was dry in like 20 minutes without any help

Hey guys, I’m Deci’s roommate, thanks for all the nice comments.

djfunkshun: I like your stick! I hope I can get to use a shear some day, still using a hand brake here.

Taiki: I would love to try a steampunk design! I’m trying to learn some patina and metal etching to achieve the appropriate finishes.

Here’s some pictures of the box he’ll be bringing with him to Evo:

I’ve really enjoyed working on these. Check out my photobucket for more pictures, I usually keep this updated with stuff I’m currently working on.

those are beautiful, if you ever got time to take a comissioned order let me know

I’ll make a bid: $100.00.

…?

thanks urth!

this stick definitely looks way better in person.
everyone at evo world seemed to like it a lot.

and all i can say is mago used it for over an hour beasting on fist of the north star and said he loved it. that about the best compliment we could have hoped for

I’ve seen this stick at Evo, didn’t it was from someone so close to me! Really nice looking. I don’t know anything about welding or working with metal, but one day I want to make an aluminum stick.

-Rotendo

That is excellent.
I’m planning on starting a new wood stick tomorrow, but seeing this makes me reconsider.

Do you have any templates? (If you don’t mind a similar stick being made.)

shin rotendo - working with metal is not too bad, we’ll probably make an aluminum one too pretty soon. you can also check out the aluminum stick djfunkshun made here: http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=135539

sigmae - i don’t have any templates but if you look at the pictures on the first page you can pretty much figure out the construction.

Thanks for the shout out deci. My stick is lacking next to yours. But if any one wants to see the progression just follow the link and keep in mind that it is work in progress.

Metal cases are so sleek and sexy D:

Fucking Awesome!

Metal is a really great medium to work with. Aluminum is especially forgiving if you are decent enough with a welder. I’m kinda busy right now but have a custom project to finish for Toodles before i start making blanks.

New one in progress, just waiting for the buttons!

How many people spotted what was wrong in the last picture?

I’m sure you all did, nerds. :stuck_out_tongue:

Damn. I need a metal stick now. Any timeframe for when you plan on selling these on a mass-production scale?

I really like it, but I wish the stick was higher, thats really my only bother.

thanks for the comments guys.

mass production shouldn’t be too far away. the current design is pretty much ironed out.
we’re still working on getting the painting just right. it seems to take a really long time for primer and paint to dry in san diego right now.
honestly though, at evo everyone was all about the glossed stainless steel look and it’s definitely what made the stick stand out from others.
also, i have a new design that i want to try out as well as building a bigger heavier box for happs parts.

pc1x1: 23 - 24 mm of shaft from the lexan to the bottom of the ball top is the correct height for japanese sticks. the stick pictured is just above 23mm. we can always make a stick higher by using thinner lexan and not having the (probably unnecessary in a metal case) mounting plate. but why would you want a stick that is not the correct height? you can get used to the new height very quickly (i had to do this too)

will, head to plaza, 3s is going down.
