FS3 PCB + iL Eurostick = Need Help, Please

Hey there, guys. You’ve all been a lot of help so far with my stick project, but I’m afraid that I need just a little bit more advice. I’ve just about gotten my case finished (just a few more coats and sanding + finishing), and I’m moving onto the wiring right now.

I already de-soldered the FS3 PCB and gotten it taken out of the old case - I just have some questions about getting to the actual wiring.

I found this diagram, and have a few questions:

I noticed that on the entire board, the image creator only has 1 Ground actually connected, right above R30 on the right-hand side. Why is that?

Next, the il Eurostick has 3 connection points for each direction. Why? And How do I know what to wire where?

The last question is about wire and solder. I went to Radioshack and saw that they have a wide selection of wire: which kind do I need to buy, exactly?
Then I bought some .062 because it looked about right, but I’m not sure if I’ll run into any problems using it.

Thanks a lot in advance, guys. Almost done! I can smell the finish line it’s so close. Just in time for the local tourny, too. =]

The PCB is Common Ground.
So only one point is needed for everything.

Microswitches in the iL Eurojoystick have three Terminals.
One is COM (Ground), one is NO (Normally Open), one is NC (Normally Closed).

So what you do is this.
Daisy-chain the Ground Terminals of the Joystick together.

Daisy-chain is connecting all the Grounds together.
Like making a long line.

The Quick Disconnects for Ground of Joystick will have two wires in each.

You will only be doing the COM and NO Terminals.

That is example of Daisy-chain.
In that picture, it is of Buttons.

What I prefer is to use one Ground point for Buttons, and another Ground point for Joystick.
But you can Daisy-chain the Buttons and Joystick together, and use one Ground point if you want.

There are at least sixteen cool Ground points shown in that FS3 PCB you can use.
Just choose which one you want.

Do know that the PCB in Bomberman’s diagram may be different from yours.
There are a few spots that switch the Ground and Signal for Button around in the new PCB.

So choose a Ground point that is like for USB or something that is not Button.
You can use in the GRGDGLGU part if you want.

Thank you very much! Wow, talk about concise, intelligible directions - that’s amazing, man =]

Now the only questions I need answered are about what kind of wire I need to buy, and if .062 solder will work or not.

.062 is just the diameter of the solder in inches.
Yes, work.

Use 22 AWG or 24 AWG stranded wire.

Thanks again, man. Couldn’t have finished this without the know-how of board members like yourself.

Yeah I noticed that Board Layout is different. The L1/L2 and R1/R2 are switched. Might want to test it.
