I have a question about your custom Ball tops Numbski.
In the case of the colored ones such as Emerald or Ruby, do you use actual gemstones carved into Balltops. OR is it simply colored glass sort of like rhinestones?
The reason I’m asking is if these aren’t as durable as the standard plastic ball tops this is a concern of mine so they don’t get chipped or cracked overtime for using them and such.
Obviously if these were actual gemstones I’d expect the price to be quite high, so I’m assuming it’s colored glass to look like gemstones in the case of green (Emerald) or blue (Sapphire)

I don’t think Numbski is active here atm. I did PM him but didnt get a reply yet, hence my question. Does any1 here know another seller of custom ball tops? I’m looking for two specific ball tops, one brushed metal/steel, and one cherry wood. I would also love washer rings to go alongside them to fit the joystick shaft.
I’m around, but not making new tops at the moment. In fact I’m not sure I ever will.
The problem is pretty simple - although I own a drill press, it’s too slow. I need one that will go about 3 times faster than mine does. At the speed mine runs, the failure rate on the balls is just too high, and takes too long. At last look, a new drill press that will go fast enough costs anywhere between $300-700. A used one for under $100 would be interesting, but so far I’ve not found one.
Being winter, I can’t make any more anyway. I was sick almost all summer this past year, so that wasn’t something I could do.
So I’ll put this out there - if a stick builder with a sufficiently fast drill press would be interested in buying my current stock off of me and my custom bit for making the tops, PM me. If you know of someplace I can get a good, fast drill press on the cheap, also PM me.
Sorry for ignoring people, but I really didn’t know what to say. I’d like to make more, but the process requires so much time and finesse for so little product that I couldn’t justify it. I was selling them for $15/each, and felt for a time that I needed to sell them for $50/each to make it worth it. That’s just too much. No one is going to pay $50 for a ball top.
