From C to Shining C

If you don’t care about learning the character at all, walldive spamming beats a lot of new players pretty handily.

I have only 5 characters left for the trophy and tbh Dan suprised me a lot, Dan is actually pretty solid.

I had easier winning with Dan then the most other characters.

Light Dan kick is an amazing pressure move and air to air move, I enjoyed Hibiki San a lot!

The person having Vega issues.

Cosmic heel -> throw should get you to rank C.

I’ll try that then. Thanks.

I got this achievement a while back and thoroughly enjoyed it; anyone who is boosting their way to get this or isn’t bothered about trying for it at all should really reconsider. I started working from top left to bottom right, though gave up on that at Makoto and took a more choosy approach. I picked up Bison as a secondary along the way, and he was my first ever charge character. I never thought he’s be so fun to play. The last character I did was DeeJay, because he never appealed to me at all, and I ended up becoming really fond of him, to the point where he may well be considered my main now. I was really surprised at how much I ended getting out of some of the characters I never cared for.

I’m now working on the completely made up Covered In B’s; I’ve got Rufus, Bison and Dee JAy ranked up to B, and I’m at 4k with Dan now. It’s great fun.

I’ve been toggling between Guile and Dhalsim, they’re at about 350/700 BP respectively. I like the keepaway shit. It’s super satisfying to annoy and keep people out.

Just go to sleep I think you’re trying too hard.

The achievement itself has the right spirit but getting up to C with every character was too many matches, imo. I would be fine with “win 5 ranked matches with every character” or get everyone up to D+ (500 BP). Like I said, at about a 57% win rate combined, it took me about 1100 matches to get everyone up to C. That’s just way too much grinding and a lot of the potential fun of the achievement was lost because of it.

On the plus side, it was very satisfying when I finally got it, and I did have fun playing most of the cast for ~30 matches. It was also a lot more fun to play when I ran into players who were also going for the achievement (I met at least 3 while playing) and not a bunch of 10k BP turtle Guiles that you know you won’t be able to beat with a character you don’t play often. Some nights it felt like that’s all you ran into.

So far, fuck Makoto and C. Viper, any character that takes a lot of knowledge and execution to do well (and luck in Makoto’s case) is not really the best candidate for pick-up-and-play online IMO.

Dee Jay and T. Hawk were surprisingly fun though!

Got this last week, saved zangief for last. I’m not sure what I hate more, playing against him or playing as him.

Only recently started doing this trophy myself. I had Cody, Sak, Cammy and Chun over 1000 anyway, Chun being my main, Sak a secondary and the other two I was just messing around with alot when Super first got released. Since starting the trophy I’ve also ranked up Blanka and Honda, and I really enjoyed it. It’s insanely easy to beat people with Blanka online, lol. I HATED Blanka, but man, he’s fun to play and I can see myself using him more often in future, same with Honda to a lesser degree. I recently started ranking up Ryu… not enjoying it half as much tbh. So many mirror matches… and I just find him boring as fuck but I’m trying to get the ‘easier’ characters up to C first.

I may completely give up on this trophy when it comes to Mak/Sim/Hakan… I’m gonna struggle.

But yea, it’s a good way to learn stick without giving a fuck that I’m losing points left, right and centre lol.

I got to about 700 with Makoto fairly quickly, then the last 300 took several hours. It was torture as all I seemed to be able to find were hordes of 5000 point Ryus and I kept falling to pieces trying to get in.

Vega was surprisingly fun though.

Got Rufus, Abel and Viper all sat at around 600 so they’ll be next, I think.

That would be me. And thanks. I will.

As are achievements, though I imagine if you care about one chances are you’ll care about the other also.

Well designed achievements are the game manual of the 21st century

C-Shining C is not worthless; it forces you to play each character for a reasonable period of time building your basic understanding of that characters strengths and weaknesses, making you a better player!

If you don’t have from C to shining C you should never use 'I didnt know the match-up as an excuse for a loss because you clearly weren’t trying to learn match ups at even a basic level!

this achievement has done just that for me.
my understanding of some parts is at least ten fold what it was for vanilla.

You could learn to play as every character to some degree in endless, the achievement itself means as little as bp/pp - I mean the achievement’s even based off of bp, so if you want to argue that bp’s meaningless, then this achievement must also be.

The achievement itself is a nice pavement to keeping track of characters to play with/learn with for me really. I just want to “complete” the game more. I’ve definitely gotten plenty of fun and value from my $40 spent on SSF4.

I must be halfway through this, and to my surprise, two of the characters I dreaded using the most (Hakan and Dhalsim), were maybe the ones I had more fun playing with.

Especially Dhalsim, because it forces you to approach the game in a very different way, it teaches you a lot of patience…
