I started doing this a couple weeks ago. I’ve done 4 whopping characters (Chun, Rufus, Rose, Dan), roughly in order of characters I feel like playing. Basically I’m just playing as characters that I want to learn basics of, and I learn the basics in Ranked, while losing often. I play ranked when I only have half an hour or so to play (if I have more time I just play endless with Chun, my main).
1 round 30 sec is the fastest way. Yes it does piss some people off and you will get some hate mail, but it works. It doesn’t really thin out your player base since the game is new, there are a ton of noobs online right now who don’t care about 1 round 30 sec. All it does is teach people to search for the parameters of a match they want to compete in. Noobs don’t care what they play in.
If you don’t work on getting it now, I imagine it will be tougher to get later on when the noobs move on to Killzone or whatever the next big shooter game is.
Simply do the arcade fight request for 1 round 30 sec. With 1 round/30 sec it will take about 35 mins to get a character up to C on average.
It’s quite entertaining seeing the messages I get. If the message is actually serious and isn’t cussing me out, I’ll give my reasoning. If the message cusses me out, I simply respond with “I’m sleeping with your mom”. Then I put them on my block list. lol. I emptied my block list after I got the trophy though and went back to 3 rounds, 99 sec.
And that’s why i secretly love you broken emo *******, because nowhere else can i see such a trainwreck of perspective. Just the way you say “tell them my reasoning”, as though you honestly believe you have any, is really a treat simply because nowhere else can normal human beings see people getting past 3 years of age while still somehow believing the universe revolves around them.
“Moooooooooomyyyyyyyyy! MOOOOOOOOOOOMYYYYYYYY! I am a self-absorbed prat who refuses to consider any perspective but the one baked up in the mental abortion i call i thought process! Why, then, will no one take my perspective seriously?! I JUST DON’T GET IT! MOMMY, WHY DID DADDY LEAVE?!? LOVE ME!”
Someone’s really salty today. =\
Set rounds to 1. Set your region to some obscure country and get a friend to do the same. Find him using custom search. Beat him up till you level up, then switch. This is the fastest way. It’s still pretty pointless though. I did it for one char as a favour to a friend but then never again. I think it’s possible to have automated boosting matches if you tape down the X button (or whatever it is on your controller) if you’re the host. So after boosting off someone you just put turbo on and tape down the button then you go to sleep so that people can boost off of you. Never tried this yet though so there’s probably something I’m overlooking.
That last insult seems a bit autobiographical. Did you ever find out why your dad left?
Good thing tournament mode rolls out tomorrow…
LOL, NO U
LOL im clevar
Remember learn your anti air, you can get to c with just that.
Me and a friend got this trophy together about a week ago. (He already got the platinum, I’m only missing 2 Trials and I’ll got the platinum too!)
I’ll copy and paste a post I did at ps3trophies.org with some tips we learned while doing it:
uhhh… why are you so unnecessarily mean?
DERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRP, can i haz b00sting and wasting evry1z time as though everyone on the planet played the game specifically to cater to my worthless emo ass?
plz dunt be mean, i do nothingz rong
I"d usually be the last to ask, but can we ban these fucking scrubs already? They’re clearly not here to learn anything about the game.
So you are here to do that right, kid? Thanks for derailing a perfectly fine topic.
actually there is nothing wrong with the topic of this thread and I fail to see why it matters to the above poster what they are posting here. Most of the people are saying to do 1 round matches with friends… and the only way you are going to accidentally play this person in a 1 round match is if you aren’t looking through your matches/match making carefully enough before starting a match. And for that matter, if he is just playing a random character trying to level them up, you should be getting a free win… On top of that, getting your character to 1000bp is hardly boosting as you can’t even lose points until 1000+ bp and nobody but yourself can see your win/lose record so it doesn’t matter AT ALL. Seriously though, are you just really really REALLY bored and use talking on online forums as a way to take out pent up aggression from a dead end job or getting bad grades in school? What gives?
I 'm doing the C to shinning C because I hate playing my mains online (yay lag) so I play as characters I know the basics of till they are at 1000 so I don’t get irritated when I lose a match because there is a random lag spike every 2-3 seconds. Otherwise I play endless. Doubt the new mode will keep my attention unless it removes lag (lol), but who knows.
I get this feeling too. It must be a byproduct of simple, casual play. When someone wins a fight with a random reversal, or random ultra, I go fuck I shoulda blocked that shit lol gg. Instead of when I’m on my mains I rage and throw my controller at the wall for losing to a random ultra.
So far I’ve leveled up almost 10 characters to 1000BP, and for the most part I only started yesterday. I guess I’m good at beating scrubs or something but I’ve been winning most of my matches.
Another tip, take a quick glance at your character’s frame data and look for possible tick throw setups. They’re usually off a jab or short or something. Helps a ton with characters with weak rushdown games or playstyles you’re not familar with. And considering most scrubs have no idea what a tick throw is, it’s usually a free throw. Obviously this won’t work against dp mashers, but I found if they mash dp once, they usually mash it all game.
I won’t send you hate mail. I simply mark you as avoided and put your name on a list I have. If match making pairs me up with you, I will leave. If you ever join a room I’m hosting, I will kick you. Congrats, I hope you enjoy your trophy.
Serious question, how exactly do you look carefully enough to not accidentally join 1 round matches? I usually use “Quick Match”. I use this because the mode that lets you search for a list of people almost never works. By the time it finds a bunch of people, resolves what bar they are, and then I select someone and click join they are already in a match.
And yes, it should be a free win. But here’s how it usually goes down for me. I usually try to feel pople out at the beginning of the match in order to gauge what kind of crazy I’m up against. I toy with them a bit to see how I should proceed. What happens is they hit me with a few random things and then run away for a bit and I go Ok, I think I got this guy figured out. Then all of a sudden Time Out! Game Over! You Lose! I look up and see that this douche set it to 1 round 30 seconds. Great. I now feel like a couple minutes of my time (including searching for match, character select, etc) has been wasted just because some tard wants to boost up some meaningless online points.
To me, this is far more infuriating than playing a legit match with a scrubby, mashy player. At least they are just ignorant. While getting nailed by random ultras or them causing lag spikes during my strings by mashing is annoying, I also get it. They don’t know any better. They’re just trying to have fun and are playing to the best of their limited ability. But the people whoring up points know exactly what they’re doing. Which makes it far lamer to me.

EDIT: If you guys actually enjoy this game and do want to get better at it, you could use this achievement in the spirit I assume it’s meant for, which is to gain a better understanding of all of the characters. You don’t have to become a pro with Gen, or Rose, or Makoto, etc. but learning how to play them a bit will make fighting against them easier since you’ll understand their strengths and weaknesses better. Why not actually try playing them, in legit matches, with real tactics while you earn this achievement? Something to think about…
Well, there are people who want to learn the basics of other characters (if only for well-roundedness and to get a better feel for match-ups) and are trying to get the achievement using normal 3-round 99 second settings.
lol just saw your edit. raises hand there are some of us out there.
You guys are so weird, wanting to boost for this achievment(or boost for anything…) this achievement seems like the most fun one there is!
Uhh if anyones going to be banned its gonna be you.
Seconding this, I’m actually having fun learning new characters as a result of this achievement, and it keeps things fresh. I never truly realized how braindead-easy Balrog is until now!
I can gurantee that I’d never pick El Fuerte if it wasn’t for this achievement. Ever. For any reason.
