Friday June 15 2012. UMVC3 and SFxT. Sign ups start at 6pm. Tournament starts at 7:30. This is the first tournament in our Summer Tournament Series.
Summer Tournament Series
[SIZE=4]Friday Night Encounters will be hosting a series of tournaments running bi-weekly from 6/15 until 8/24. Two games will be run each tournament night (with possible side tournaments TBA) and entrants will earn tournament points. 1 point for entering and 5 for 1st, 3 for 2nd, and 1 for 3rd. The player with the most tournament points at the end of the season will win a Qanba Q4 arcade stick with the Link quick release shaft and custom artwork provided by Phil “Phatal PHD” Hudson.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=7][SIZE=4]Entry will cost $10 per tournament. This price includes a $2 venue fee. All tournaments will be double elimination.[/SIZE]

Hello Lehigh Valley players. Revyfan187 here. Every other Friday we hold an offline fighting game session at a comic and game shop called The Encounter on Union Boulevard in Allentown.

I created this thread so all information pertaining to our Friday night sessions will be in one place and easy to find. I will be updating this initial post regularly with information about upcoming events.

The Details:

We get together every other Friday starting at 6pm. We play until they kick us out. Also, there is no venue fee for our casual sessions (Shout-outs to Oliver and Terry for that. Thanks guys!!!). Every fourth session we hold a tournament double header with a $10 entry fee per tournament. The games played will be whatever has the most demand.

We have four setups now. Two PS3 with four quality aracade sticks, 2 laptops with SSf4AE PC and an X-box 360 that we can plug into one of the laptops. We only have 3 Xbox 360 sticks so if anybody can bring sticks and/or if you play on pad you are encouraged to bring them.

Also, there are plenty of restaurants and convenience stores in the immediate vicinity of The Encounter so you guys won’t go hungry.

If anybody wants to bring their own setups please let me know. We have plenty of room for a fifth setup if anybody wants to bring something.

One last thing. This thread is for discussions about the Friday Encounter sessions. All other Lehigh Valley community discussions should be kept in Phatal PHD’s wonderful Lehigh Valley thread

Hey guys, Thanks to all that showed up tonight. And big thanks to Jermburn and his crew for keeping the night alive by coming out when everybody else was packing it in. Hopefully we’ll have even more people next time.

I’m very interested

I live right across the street from the Sands Casinos and main in Juri Han. I won’t be able to make it this Nov. 5th but, wanted will try very hard to make it to the next session.

Thanks to everyone that made it out tonight. We had our biggest turnout yet. 12 people!!!

We may be starting up ranking battles in the coming weeks. Also, some of the guys have been talking about doing the Encounter sessions every week. If that sounds appealing to any of you please let Carmen know.

Good Games to everybody that came out last night. We had quite a few new faces so I’m glad to see we’re picking up steam. Jermburn, we’ll have to talk to Eronious about getting you days off on the Fridays that we do this so you guys can get out here earlier.

Can’t make it 17th goin to ac and prob wont be there new years eve damn a month without my biweekly sf4. I’m totally down for this friday guys if you wanna do it. My 2 buddies most likely will too.

Yeah 17th is the next scheduled date. I’d be cool with this friday tho, we just need a tv and console and maybe a few others to show up. Anyone else interested?

That’s understandable, I think we all could use a break from fighters for a bit. Speaking of break, I’m thinking of getting into some more fighters. Tekken looks like a lot of fun, you think it’s a good alternative? Want to get away from SSF4 especially Cammy, who will be a completely different char by the time the AE is out x(

I was complaining man, I want to play some games now lol Seems no one else wants to play :frowning: Uhm Tekken is good for keep your reflexes sharp I think, its tiring though lol if you want to play me and laughter would be happy to help you through the ropes (and Christian who is pretty good for someone who doesn’t even play)

Oh ok that was fast lol. I’d definitely be down for tomorrow. Maybe those two posters above could make it and bring their friends but they probably won’t see these messages in time.

Tekken seems like a fun game to play I’d definitely like to try it. Sometime tonight I might look up beginner guides or tutorials for it to get a taste. It can’t be worse than ST, or is it xD Just feel like I spend too much time on SSF4 and I’m missing out on playing all these fighters.

Yea man its like my last memories of Lehigh Valley will be NOT PLAYING ANYTHING which is far from ideal :sad:

Lol its hard to get worse then ST… though I don’t know if you’re “missing” anything by just playing SF, I mean you’re getting really good (I mean I’m not in much of a position to judge but from what my SC friends were saying about you the other night), so if you’re enjoying it theres nothing to feel bad about!

I’ll bring anything, just no TV either. That’s depressing =( We really need to up up our scene here but how can we get more people interested and more serious? It seems that no one posts on the forums often so it’s hard to tell if they will show up or not. And then they will show up and then disappear later x( We should try to come up with a way to form a more solid group, but how do we go about doing that?

I’m enjoying, just want some more variety. Nothing to get too serious into, just something to have some fun with if that makes sense lol.
