The June 25th tournament of the Fresno Ranbats has been canceled

I regret to inform everyone that the tournament, at the very least the first one is going to be canceled.

It turns out that the GM that I had set everything up with at boomers was fired, I went the very next day and talked with the new GM that would be replacing her and was told things should still be okay. A couple days later I got a phone call saying that we weren’t going to be able to hold it at boomers because the corporate marketing guy who was training the new GM felt it wasn’t a good idea. In addition to that I haven’t been able to find another venue that we can use for this first tournament.

I was told that it might be possible to have future tournament at boomers after the GM has settled into everything, but this first one just isn’t going to happen and no venue is going to just let us hold a tournament a week from when we tell them.

I’m very sorry for the people that were planning to come, when we hold another tournament here in Fresno I’ll be sure to let everyone know and I’m going to get the reservation for the tournament and venue signed in contract to prevent something like this from happening again, once again, I am truly sorry that its not going to happen.

Fresno’s very own ranking battles is starting up once again for season 2 (there was a season one?) for street fighter 4! Come one come all, we are trying to make this even better than the last one and even better with each tournament.

I will keep this thread updated with each tournament so keep checking for new info on each new tournament! We will have one tournament a month, with players that place within the top 6 earning points. Players will accumulate points throughout the season, and at the end of the season there will be a final ‘playoff’ tournament of the top 8 players competing in a round robin format to decide the winner.

Here is the info for the current upcoming tournament. We will be holding our ranbats at our local boomers.

Pot Distribution:
$5 goes to the tournament pot that will be split 70/20/10 to 1st/2nd/3rd
$4 goes to Boomers for hosing our ranbats
$1 goes to the end of the season playoff pot

-Hotdog and 22oz drink for $4
-Personal pizza and 22oz drink for $5

Consoles:
Games will be played on xbox 360 as well as ps3, we will have setups for both. Bring your own controller
Rules:
The tournament will be double elimination
- Games will be 2/3 matches, finals will be 3/5 matches
-Games will be 2/3 rounds with a 99 second time limit
-Random stage unless both players decide on one
-The loser of a match will be allowed to switch their character
-Both players will be able to switch ultras between matches

2nd - 7 points
3rd - 6 points
4th - 5 points
5th - 3 points
6th - 1 point

Yeah its really unfortunate because everything was set in motion and then I found out the day I finalized everything. . . . the GM got fired =/

I live in San Luis Obispo CA, which is about 1 hour and 45 mins away. Myself and a few friends are trying to build the scene here (central california), and we were planning on going to you’re tournament. anyways now that its not happening, we have a internet cafe here that wants to help by holding more tournaments. its got everything you’d need to hold a nice size tournament and i was thinking maybe one day we could work together and set up some kind of central california ranbat or something. love to here what you think.

That sounds like a great idea if we can get that working. I know that the sales guy I talked to at boomers (I used to work there so I know him) said that after things settle down with the new gm we could try to have the Fresno ones again. We could even try to make it a central Cali based ranbat that everyone would be more than invited to attend. Pm me any other info you have and we can see about starting to make something happen
