Freedemonia in East bay!

If you’re looking for Tron Doom teams I can only say a few things:

Zoning Vipah team: Viper’s BK sets up unblockables with Doom’s ability to thwart advancing guard. Start Viper on point and depending on who you’re more comfortable with she DHCs fine into either Doom or Servebot’s master. The general premise of this team however does not revolve around combos, you use Seismos and hidden missiles, any time they get in you summon Tron, then Seismo them back to max range again. It’s execution heavy but it destroys everything without air mobility in a very brain dead way, and beats things with air mobility with some thought involved.

Tasty was playing Sent/Doom/Haggar but the same theory can be applied to Sent/Doom/Tron Zone with missiles, then when they get near you Tron and kill preferably 2 characters.

I like team building, but it’s interfering with me grasping the fundamentals so I’m going to focus on my Trish/X-23/Dante team for a bit longer. I think the synergy is there, what are your guys thoughts? Be honest!

I watched Cool World very recently, it’s not as good as I remembered, it’s actually pretty bad…

I’m remember reading somewhere that the animators just made whatever they want and someone was put through the misfortune of editing together everything to resemble a movie.

Fire and Ice is gdlk, and its the best work I’ve seen from Ralph Bakshi.

Shoutouts to me only being able to seismo twice. I wonder how useful it is for Dante to double seismo in his combos…

Has anyone upgraded the 360 harddrive with a regular hard drive or know if it’s bannable from live when done?

I’ve seen hard drive mods done without the Xbox having any issues, I think you’re only limited to certain brands though. I don’t have the facts with me atm.

Team building can be useful for learning other aspects of the game not readily apparent from your main team. Week 1 Marvel I started using a Phoenix team but felt it held me back since I couldn’t use supers and relied too much on mashing and “DODGE THIS DODGE THIS”. Now I use a Zero team that mainly rushes down but I’ve learned that it can zone surprisingly well, however having all that ridiculous priority on the beam saber kind of encourages to press lots of buttons. One way to get better may be to pick a really shitty character that lacks a lot of tools compared to your mains, forcing you to play a different style to make up for the defects.

BTW Marvel fundamentals are “find the most stupid broken shit and exploit it to the best of your abilities”. Haha, but on a more serious note, Marvel fundamentals as opposed to general FG basics are to get used to blocking high because of trijumps and to be able to call and counter-call assists. Just watch Justin Wong play MvC2 or MvC3 for a perfect example of this. He doesn’t have the best execution or combos but his fundamentals are perfect for the game(s).

Seismo chaining for Dante isn’t that useful since the beehive style cancel is usually preferable and easier to do.

I’m about to head out to the Dragon Lounge in SF for some casuals. Shoutouts to illness, hangovers and procrastinating HW!

On a completely unrelated note, shoutouts to Som for teaching me some Tekken. I didn’t know how gdlk you were. Top 8 at Evo in '08? Good shit.

I think Trish/X-23/Dante is good, you have 1 hit kill combos for 2 gauges with X-23 Dante, and I feel Dante’s assist is good for Trish on defense while X23’s may be useful on offense. As long as you don’t mind it being squishy I think it’s a decent team.

Ahaha, no no. I don’t mean anything when I said my inputs were getting blown up. You guys are so nice, it is hard to think you ever meant to be harsh.

At first, I really hated how X-23 have so little health and damage. Then I got better with my execution with her loops, so I brushed it off along with the wesker DHC glitch. Then the life part came in to play, seeing how quickly see dies and how few mistakes I can afford with her. Then I saw CHRISIS play 23-wesker, None of that mattered! I couldn’t hit her so the factor of low life was never a factor , so that was why I was so salty after that match LOL.I guess it is just good understand of what to do etc.

I like the loops, hitting loops makes me happy cause its like OH SHIT COMBOS! Another reason I like mags cause of the FIERCE combo ahah shit is so sick.
On play styles, I wanted to play keep-away/run-away before the game came out. With arthur in the beginning, then I wanted to play X-23 so that stuck. Now I guess I want a good rush down team.

I should just try other teams out, and such.Maybe it make me appreciate my first team a whole lot more or even less depending.
I actually tried viper cause of CHRISIS, and I only hate her cause she is always in my face.
I’ll try my best to figure something out, I will ask you guys for help, if I get ultra stumped. I just need more experience that is all.

Som you are allowed to format usb drives for use on a 360 console. Maybe an external can work, it’s been a while since I’ve done anything like that. I know that you can connect it to a computer because it’s just a regular sata cable. After you get rid of the casing on the xbox HDD. I dont think it’s ban worthy unless there are pirated games. Here is a link. http://www.gamerwok.com/main/2008/12/7/diy-how-to-upgrade-your-xbox-360-hard-drive-poor-mans-editio.html [FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY]. I need that disclaimer just in case. HA. edit: The licensing is a blurry area, so you may or may not get banned. Try hooking up an external and formatting it on the xbox.

@VII I reformatted a long time ago in Jan. So I dont want to do it again. Ill buy a new one and try to ghost everything, then use the old one in my ps2. HAHA.

Some really fun rush down teams I enjoy:

Viper/Ammy/Task: My team, enough said.

Viper/Mag/Task: This team has great rush down and zoning, Magneto benefits from either Seismo or burn kick and can rush down hardcore with Task arrows assist. Should run as either Viper on point or Mags on point, never start Task for this team unless you feel like zoning.

Magneto/Wesker/Akuma: IFC Yipes’ team and is for a reason, incredibly high damage, very good rush down.

Zero/Magneto/Phoenix: Builds lots of gauge and aids in rush down play for all 3 characters, you need to hit an opponent once before 2 of your characters die in order to earn yourself the Phoenix meter.

Zero/Doom/Sentinel (Drones): With missiles and drones Zero has godlike mix up for left right and decent overheads

Viper/Trish/Doom: Once your pressure gets into full swing you should simply win the game with this team, I’ve been theory fighting it in my head and want to try it out as well, I think it’s potentially completely broken for moving people to the corner then unblockabling 3 characters. =/

Magneto/Storm/Psylocke: Not in the game, but playing them in Marvel 2 teaches you good rushdown theory which you can then apply to the majority of the cast in Marvel 3. XD

hey guys, i am recovered from the gaming, so i post now.
any luck with finding a venue guys? and what is this 21+club at taraval?
demon ninja, since we have like, 4 to 5 dojos left at sfsu. we can attempt a small 1 dollar tourny, to test the waters and stuff
and silis, your post is good. if you want to get better just ask us at the dojo. we are cool guys and we will tell you stuff. i asked chrisis help on making a competive team and he said i should do chris/task/phenoix. i tryed it out, but got owned by rushdown peeps, so i subbed task for haggar. so yeah ask.
oh yeah, havin people critique is also good, so just ask peeps on what their weakness/strength are. btw chrisis, i am liking my team of chris/haggar/phoneix, but i feel like its lacking something. so i want to try to work on team b which is viper/something/ something…any suggestions for a ranged viper or should i just stick with chris?

I wasn’t really asking about how to do it but rather if it’s bannable from live.

And after a couple hours scouring forums it seems to be in the gray area where it’s technically bannable but it has not been enforced… yet.

Thanks for the responses. 360 here I come. maybe.

Chrisis how can you not forget Mike Z’s team? That is all rush down, because one mistake you’re done. Juggernaut laughs at Hsien-Ko/Zero. He’s like don’t you know who I am? Ha. Then does power up and tags in Tron/Doom.

That was my original team in Marvel, but Cable and his low risk high reward was more appealing. HA.

@Som, my bad. Yeah just a hella gray area.
@Worf pick up Ironman or Doom.

I think Chris is fine, but should you choose to go to Viper…

Viper/Task(Horizontal)/Doom(Hidden Missiles.): Execution heavy but keeps people out incredibly well, you may want to actually start Task Master as if you bring in Viper already having gauge you can randomly throw in EX seismo in your zoning for bonus chip and invincibility. Task doom missiles is amazing and I only fully appreciate it after playing against HanzoGonzo.

Viper/Dante (Jam session)/Iron Man (Unibeam):This is more of a traditional air and ground control team, lots of chip damage from assists that hold them away from you with Seismos to compliment.

Viper/Task(Vertical assist)/Phoenix: I’m kind of reluctant to say this team but I feel it’s one of the best teams in the game at everything. If you play it super lame the only time they should get near you is when they do an invincible horizontal super, in this circumstance you either DHC into counter, EX seismo or block depending on the situation. Note: Despite this being a keep away team it can also rush down, on top of that it doesn’t want you full screen, this team is optimum when the enemy is between just over 1/3 and just under 3/4 screen away.

Viper/Haggar/Doom: Scrub mode + sophisticated mode, 2 incredibly brain dead options to supplement a thoughtful one, seismo and missiles to cover pushback holes all day, in your execution fails and they get in Haggar, kill on hit, push them back out on block.

Team Z doesn’t teach Marvel rush down fundamentals, it does teach about team chemistry, but a significant portion of team Z is being super patient and waiting for your enemy to screw up thanks to how many weaknesses the team has.

At least that’s how it needs to function IMO since there are so many areas where other teams just dominate it and I give Tron very little respect when rushing her down. >.>;

QFT

No intention of blowing anything up. I want everybody to be able to level up at the dojo and if anyone is having problems doing so they should speak up.

Sorry to tasty and chrisis, hope you guys feel better soon! If you’re having problems with phlegm you should eat wasabi. Hurts like a bitch, but it’ll clear you out good. As for chest pains, I don’t really know, but if it doesn’t ease up soon you might wanna see a doctor.

Yo its my birthday on the 24th so I’ll be bringing some Cake during this week’s Dojo. I’m deciding between a Strawberry Cake and a Mocha Cake which one would you guys prefer?

@Ric0: If I don’t recover doctors are expensive as frick… So I better just recover. XD

VII: Happy upcoming birthday! Most things involving coffee are godlike but that’s just my 2 cents. >.>

I didn’t get to play against any Phoenix teams on Saturday (at least I don’t think so.)

Along with 3S, I wanna get back into Marvel 2. Mag/IronMan/Sent let’s gooooooo.

GET HYPE FOR 22 MINUTE MK9 PATCH DOWNLOAD; OH SHIT.

That said, meaty sweep and meaty throws are all the tools needed to beat scrubs; lawlz.

Also, no, JOM infinite doesn’t seem to work anymore because there’s either a less ridiculous frame advantage on that move or because the move whiffs on crouched players now…

I’m not sure.

EDIT:

Un-skippable low-res cutscenes FTL.

This is lame because it takes too long to unlock shit as is.

How am I suppose to go to training mode with a clean conscience if I haven’t unlocked everything???
