Som speaks the truth. I’m gonna steal your way of posting cause it’s pretty godlike.
Streaming:
I really don’t think we should be streaming the first two tournaments or whatever so we can get our feet wet. Not only that, by eliminating the streaming factor we get rid of a boatload of things that could go wrong. It also eliminates the need to earn money right away so we can get more equipment and become bigger.
People/Community:
We want it to be polished before we really open the gates to people coming from around the bay. I honestly don’t know how big serious fighting games are here at State because at RnC there’s like two people who live on campus that come down to play regularly. However if there really is a big scene there, this could be great.
One group we can potentially tap into is Starbase because most RnC regulars are well known with them so I can get their help to get some people down. They’re cool guys who most likely won’t do illegal shit if we ask them not to.
Brackets:
Yeah I get that right now brackets are plug and chug but that wasn’t what I think we’d have problems with. Learning how to control a crowd and keeping things running smoothly is something that’ll come with experience.
Also, to be serious, I actually don’t have setups to give anymore: I’ve sold almost all the community sticks and my PS3 stays in-house after the tragic loss of my XBOX.
EDIT:
ALSO, with regards to revenue, I think there was an issue about how we couldn’t do stuff like money matches at SFSU and that shit had to be free…
But I can’t remember how V explained it, so I think we need some of his input first before we start doing things.
(unless this issue was already sorted out earlier with V’s knowledge)
Also that belt could actually work as in the winner of the tournament gets free entry/seeded into the next one. Something along those lines to make them want to come back.
Well, we can’t assume that everyone is going to be free pot monsters. There are some very good players around the SF Bay Area, if not in the city.
My actual ideal scenario is someone comes and bodies everyone, but then respects our skills and decides to come again anyway. It’s always good to have someone better than you to play, to challenge and aspire to.
Well we can talk about where we want to go with this. My ideal is for a shit load of people to be down at the Dojo every Saturday to show that it’s a big thing for people and will definitely be good to keep around. I think it was called a legacy event or something here at State. One way to show up is to have tournaments with a decent amount of money at stake. Where there’s money people will gather.
I’ve actually found a good amount of stuff for virtua fighter 5 on the internet. Heres one link I remember, it has some goh stuff and some general stuff. Goh Notes Other than that I remember some tutorials on youtube and a lot of match videos.
Okay so theres a lot of really cool ideas goin on here. I think I’ll actually start working on a website where we can host the stream and have some information for newcomers. Maybe some pics, that kinda thing.
@tasty How u like yo eggs??? But naw, it’s really the video that makes that song. It would get preeeetty old as a theme methinks. Besides the mulan thing is perfect, just replace donny osmond with chrisis. Yes sir I’ll make a c. viper fearing man outta you.
Also the championship belt is gdlk I would show it off to all my housemates
Why are all you guys so godlike at this? Let’s make progress on it and the universe will be well.
I love how people just assume I’ll body folks when I lose plenty to Worf, Tasty, Ric0, Zaku, MaNoel, Taozen and many others. >.> This isn’t Marvel 2 where unless I fight Som at the Dojo my win ratio will be over 95% this is 3 or SSFIV etc where I will likely lose many times especially against many of our awesome dojo members, you guys aren’t free.
Oh my god, the VF5 wiki is EPIC: guard buffering FTW.
EDIT:
The character stance portion of the wiki is mind-numbingly difficult to process… so I’m to pay attention to my opponent’s feet positions relative to my own when starting combos?
Wut?
(though, this might explain why I’m only able to get juggles during some starter moves and not others… meaning that I need to be juggling with other moves that optimally correspond to the stance I launched people at…???)
