Freedemonia in East bay!

Jeebuz Zaku you’re amazing with that! O_o why weren’t you playing Viper again? o.o I’m fairly sure that Viper (Seismo) Tron (Gustaff) and Morrigan (Gauge thing) would be a pretty awesome team! hint hint hint.

Jesus that’s crazy. Has anyone been doing crazy stuff with Chun yet? I’m trying to get her meterless BNB down but it’s been fail so far.

GGs to everyone from sunday. I’m starting to get my execution down pretty good for doom and skrull, so I’ve been working on ammy the past couple of days. The more I use her, the better she seems to be. I’ve found some cool things I can do with doom missile assist and rosary. I can Hit forward hard and assist at the same time and then combo medium ice shots outside the corner or go right into super for ~350k I think. Also if I hit assist and then hit with ice shots in a certain window of time I can combo another round of ice shots and can go into super from there or just skip the second round and go into super. Also found some good ways to go into her lvl3 which does good unscaled damage. Oh yea and if you airdash forward you can set up a pretty ambiguous crossup with reflector j.c, or you can cancel early and stay on the same side. You can do it with glaive too, but it’s slower and you have to airdash around the apex of your jump.Another thing you can do with glaive is jump and then airdash upforward asap and then instantly cancel with j.c. It should come out and hit and then you land right after. It’s not incredibly fast but I find it good for pressure and is easy to combo after, and you can go for a surprise low with c.b if you’re close enough. With the reflector ammy seems to have a pretty fast overhead with airdash downforward j.c, it goes pretty fast and is easy to combo after.

I think I am going to start more matches with ammy on point. Doom will still be my main point character, but ammy seems to do particularly good against a lot of zoning characters. She can just walk, crouch, or c.b under so much she’s so damn small. Also she has the projectile reflector that I was completely forgetting about, that would make the arthur/ryu matchup a bit easier. Wow it seems like she would counter arthur/ryu/wesker pretty good actually since she walks under bullets, and then with the missiles, that seems pretty good. Of course that isn’t how I handled it sunday, I just cried when doom couldn’t throw anything out because gold arthur beats it all with crossbow lol so then I just ran into everything. Thought it was pretty lame at the time, but it seems like it has counters.

One last thing, I’ve been wondering about this record feature, I can’t seem to find it anywhere. Could someone direct me as to how to set it up?

Alright my new strategy against viper will be to get on the left side asap. That vid should be on the frontpage, everybody is completely sleeping on viper.

@Demonninja: Chun’s amazing in this game, treat her as of her MvC1 form when she was still GDLK. When doing her combo after crouch roundhouse make sure you have enough of a pause between the air Bs so that you can link a 5A once you landed after the air S. Also remember any time you hit lightning legs on the ground it can go into 214AA for a high damage set up.

@Ric0: Green reflector beats all of Arthur’s stuff aside from normals fire bottle and potentially sword, AKA she wins that for free. As for record, you set it up in the button config area, you set a button on your stick to record then press it for recording.

I’m still, STILL trying to get hop loops down. Just one rep in a real match, that’s all I need! :crybaby:

I always end up doing :l::m::d::m::h::d::db::h::b: Curse this game and it’s lack of negative edge for non-assist buttons >_<

Other news, X-23 is impossible to play online without autopiloting, she’s becoming more and more like Cammy.

On the plus side, I’m starting to like having Trish on point more now. I’m having more confidence going for unblockables with the X assist and I can now convert air traps into semi-decent relaunch combos. Trish is pretty good at building meter, so my current gameplan is to have Trish build meter and soften up the other team. From there, I can get X-23 in her killing range safely either through an DHC, aerial exchange, or more commonly a blood harvest/raw tag mixup. Ideally, if I can kill the opponent easily enough, I’ll have enough meter to setup the invisible unblockable on the incoming member .

I have to know more about how autogaurd works in this game, particularly, with Trish’s Blood Harvest / raw tag trick. When I attack an opponent who’s actively blocking something, will they always block the crossup automatically? Does the same pertain to high/low mixups as well?

I can vouch for this working; you just have to push A when you hit 9 (so, essentially, you’re feeling out the corners of the gate).

Good find, Zaku.

Now to practice and canvas the entire screen with seismos…

EDIT:

I also cannot do it on the right side…

All credit should go to Ken for finding out the inputs. With minimal practice, every viper player will be able to do this in no time. There might be a weird trick to doing it, but it works pretty easily. You don’t actually have to do it that fast. The timing is not that hard, but you can still get undesired stuff from time to time like thunder knuckle and jump.

It’s easy to do on the left side…

Can’t get it to work on the right because of how awkward it is to hit the stick corners from that side.

damn exams are kicking my ass, havent played any game in weeks :grrr:

I can only do it on right side, lol. Maybe it has something to do with me being left-handed…

I can do two seismo loops into the ender without dropping it, like the Doom loop. I like it because it looks cool and it builds hella meter. Now I just need to learn the TK cancel link and real combos.

Also, contemplating whether to head to the Anime V/Gadouken tourney this weekend. On the one hand, I’m still salty and broke from last weekend. On the other, it’s also nearby and might be a confidence boost without Ryan/Alex/Chris/the rest of Evo top 8 etc. there to body everyone.

There’s gonna be a small Gamestop MvC3 and SSF4 tourny at Serramonte this Sat. I’ll get more details if anyone’s interested in it.

Do we have to play on pad? I hope FChamp doesn’t know about this, lol.

So I was watching those jwong winter brawl money matches and it got me thinking. He was really abusing that tron assist, its so gdlk. So I’m thinking that someone should snap her in and see how he does without her. Then prbalrog does exactly this and gets her to pretty low life and lands a jackpot. Then he dhcs to ice storm and it doesn’t quite kill her. I’m thinkin hey man you gotta kikosho now but he doesn’t and jwong tags her out and regains his crazy good assist.

So now I’m thinking that was a terrible move because even tho he would be out of meter jwong still has 2 characters and prbalrog would need to spend the meter anyways to snap her back out. All of a sudden I remembered that naked tags aren’t safe, you can block them high and then punish with your best combo. So if you snap in a good assist character that your opponent really wants, then you can put him into a position where if he doesn’t naked tag, he runs a very high risk of getting his great assist getting mixed up again for the kill or just getting chipped out, and that fucks his whole plan right there. So you’re essentially very heavily baiting a naked tag and letting him keep his assist in exchange for killing a different piece of his team.

@chrisis thx now I have many things to try out

@tastylumpia I was actually looking at zero and I think I now understand what you meant by 8-way mixup. He has so many different angles he can come from and so many ways to turn his offense into a guessing game nearly impossible to block. Just remember the 8-way mixup before you drop him for viper. On the other hand, I haven’t looked at viper that much, so maybe shes just that amazing. Fighting against her certainly feels daunting until I land one hit lol

Honestly I dread fighting taskmaster more than viper atm*_* those arrows… maybe I can reflect them

Taskmaster owns Zero’s soul. It’s one of the reasons I’m thinking of picking up Viper. I might have them together because their chemistry isn’t bad, but that’s two glass cannons on one squad. ATM I have like 3 main teams that I’m barely competent with. The good thing is each team revolves around one character so if I can get optimal conditions it should be a sweep, but when that character dies I’m free x__x.

This can be interesting and convenient, since I live near that mall. Hopefully it’s BYOS/C.

Man, I sat through Network again tonight (first time in a few months?) and I remember how much I like movies:

Shit is mad hype.

I’ve got The African Queen in the PS3 as we speak…

========

That said, I’m kinda settled on doing Ryu and Arthur (powered up Fire Bottle is amazing; I’m surprised I haven’t spammed it more)… might switch out Wesker with She-Hulk, but I need to sit down and formulate more gameplan shit.

JWong’s She-Hulk was too good: it’s like he knew where the opponent was going to be every time and was able to land command grab or air throw.

Actual Wesker wall-bounce combo is hard to land consistently, but it’s pretty cool.

hey guys, my birthday is thursday march 3rd. i am going to go out and either go to a restaurant, a bar, or an ice cream parlor. i get out of class at 4 oclock. so if you guys want to hang, then meet me at my place. my place will be a HQ. i will be playing marvel untill around 6 or 7, then as people come, we will go as a group to a place of food, drink, or sweets (or maby 2 of the three). so if we decided to go to a bar, then be aware that people underage cant attend. but they are more than welcome to play some marvel. anyways, if you guys want to come, then come and enjoy some fellowship. if any questions, then call me or message me for my number. (most likely, we will vote on a place to go)

Zaku and I had awesome games tonight, one of them he did rapid fire Seismos and took my cornered Arthur down half of his health before I was able to get him out.

After posting that hypothetical team for Zaku I tried it out and adjusted it. Viper + Ammy/Morrigan meter building assist is pretty stupid, and this is in practice not theory, she can choose to burn meter and murder characters herself, but I tried it with Phoenix. My phoenix is pretty cruddy at the moment, but being able to get Dark Phoenix when the clock is still in the high seventies (Or on my best attempt 86) is insane. Viper pressuring and spamming Ammaterasu or Morrigan builds gauge very quickly, but with Either Viper/Ammy/Phoenix or Viper/Morrigan/Phoenix your team has a combined life of less than 2,300,000. Morrigan’s health is much higher than I thought it would be or what it likely should be o.o 950,000.

@Ric0 and Tasty: Viper has mix up as well but it’s completely different from Zero, I’m still learning how to do it correctly. :frowning: However she has continuous high low throw mix up for every hit of a string, but it’s hard to actually do this. >.< She can do things like Zero’s pressure strings where you’re constantly under attack but hers are high low each hit instead of at certain places. Her left right game is nowhere near as solid as Zero’s however. :frowning: Throwing with her is incredibly good, it leads into high damage and/or a reset. Her health is 100,000 higher than Zero in exchange for her pokes that aren’t Seismo having some pretty craptastic properties. Her damage output and ability to build gauge are both vastly superior. Both of them together with a good pressure assist have incredibly scary mix up and shadow Hadangeki is a beastly good assist for her. Zero’s left right game benefits from assists more while viper’s solo feels stronger.

Other findings:
Teams that build a lot of meter and have Tron in them are scary Viper Tron Morrigan has a DHC for over 450,000 unblockable damage any time they get 4 meters that Viper can set up while rushing you down.
Tron’s boulder assist is good for combos and high damage.
You can only summon a meter building assist once per combo despite it not hitting it won’t say assist okay until your combo counter vanishes. If this weren’t the case Viper Morrigan would be able to build too many meters per combo and also during pressure.

@Worf Jostar: Flunk democracy it’s your birthday, tyranny should reign don’t take a vote on where we eat/drink/rot our teeth! Just tell us your favorite place in the area.

zaku - Your rapid fire seismos look awesome. Thanks for posting the video. Now I gotta try it!

hmmm, that is true chrisis. i like all three, thats why i was going to do a vote. but i will make a decision now. we will meet at my place for marvel, then eat dinner at in-and-out, then venture to ghaiedellis square to pig out on ice cream. i know that some people are underage and i want to hang out with as many people as possible. besides, i can drink anytime, but binge eating ice cream is rare
