That sounds awesome. I am really interested in coming. Everyone on board for the marvel hype train. Seriously haven’t been this excited for a game since Bayonetta. Can’t wait to dive in and start kicking some ass.

Wolverine is good if you can catch the other person and they don’t have something like Haggar assist or fly. He needs cover to get in but once he’s in he can slide, dive kick, beserker slash, instant overhead, and I think if you do it right his drill claw can cross up (didn’t test that for some reason). His dive kick can cross up if you’re between a character away and close and you sj. dive kick immediately. He has a relaunch combo into super for decent damage, I forget if it was like 60 or 70? You can throw in crack mode to make him faster too, just cancel into it and keep going like Makoto.
Wolverine needs something faster than rocks or sentinel drones to get in on fast fireball characters. Maybe Magneto plasma. Ryu can fill the screen with fireballs pretty much and keep him out at full screen. LP fireballs fly fast as hell. Stephone kept me at the opposite side with Ryu and Akuma fireball assist, couldn’t slide, couldnt dive kick over, and the chip damage is insane. He can beserker slash through the fireballs but it’d only be good if you’re within range. Maybe if I felt comfortable using Mag I’d pick him and sentinel for cover. Don’t know though, might let you guys do that if you want.
Ryu’s tatsu will cross up if you do it right, sort of like in the other games (Stephone’s find)
He thinks Ryu is a lot better than people (ahem Keits) thinks and I was starting to think the same when I was messing with him in training mode I was doing 70-80 with just the basic stuff he still has. If you can land a hit with Ryu and do whats left of his TvC stuff you can do easy 50+ with donkey kick into shinku. DHC into other stuff and you got more damage and maybe even keep going. If ANYTHING (tatsu, assist) hits and they’re in the air you can shinku after and it’ll land.
Lariat apparently drains Haggar’s health? (Stephone) It kills damn near everything though. I’d be crouching beneath it and touch a button and get hit out or juggled or something and it hits hard.
Trish is retarded in a good way. Not a very mashable character like Dante or X but her moves hit behind her and she has a good pressure and runaway game. She can do whatever she wants when she wants with cover pretty much it seems right now.
Edit: Just watched the trag videos. They teach you some of that in challenge mode. When I was playing Odell yesterday I just got into a habit of drill claw dive kick B C S jump B B C drill claw dive kick (or replace those with S) come down and you can call an assist then super or do M H relaunch for the last set of drill claw stuff into super. The problem is getting in and staying in.

Hey guys i am a year and a half new here to pittsburgh(in grad school). Finally dropping in and posting on SRK and in the pittsburgh thread. I am originally from MD. Back in MD I know all the spots to grab games early. I have been trying to hunt down similar places here. Anyone have any suggestions? I did notice that a cr.lk was able to land on Haggar during his lariat assist. It’s still beast though. I’m thinking I’m going Captain America, Thor, and Sent.
Gary, I got your message a day late again. Buy super. AE won’t be available for a long time. Or you can just wait and buy mvc3 and put all of your focus into that.
As for tonight. I’m have a meeting at 2, then I’ll aim to get to Aaron’s before 5. I will then talk him into driving to Adam’s, after a few games are played of course (how do you feel about a first to ten?)
As for marvel 3, trish is strong, Dante is stupid good, I think sent is too slow to be effective in top level play (god knows I’ve been wrong before though), and ryu may end up at mid tier, but nothing higher (you can qoute me on that one). Mobility is such a huge thing in this game, that or running the funk away of course. Ryu can’t zone with just fireballs and dps, this isn’t that kinda game.
Cool side note, Trish can do cr. lk under Haggar assist! Suck all you Haggar assist abusers!
I picked it up and MvC2 last night along with an extra pad. I won’t be home until 11ish due to work. So if you want to battle royal tonight and whoop up on my Ken then let me know. I’ll call you or something unless you think it will be too late.
Haggar’s assist high only properties does limit the fuck out of its usefulness, but yesterday I figured better to block low with no worries than face a mix up…course poor little arthur was fucked once mix up resumed. Chun’s works better for that purpose, but skrulls is a raging piece of shit despite how it looks.
X-23’s basics seem easily abusable due to fast normals, but her best damage options are higher on the execution curve, nothing extreme just takes some practice. Got some time in last night, extremely satisfied with her and Doom (100% doom combos ftw), I just need a 3rd, ideally someone with a good AA and a good hyper to DHC into…maybe X-23 with AA assist and just a good DHC character who can hold their own too? Need to test 23’s AA assist’s invincibility, didn’t toy with it much.
Also, characters with a cancel-able dash can cancel a back-dash into a forward dash, resulting in shenanigans. (me and Jesse discovered this last night, x-23 looks like she can dodge out of range of character’s pokes due to the speed and distance of her backdash then dash back in in time to punish, also dash canceling with heavy attack lets her cover more than half the screen for a hit confirm)
Spencer has some really neat tricks but has a speed issue, also I need more time with him to determine anything about his mobility because I don’t know how to do his “zip line” around the screen yet which could fix some of this issue, once he hits you though it definitely hurts, also the fact that he can pick up a full combo off of any grapple is great.
That’s about it to report from last night aside from confirming Jesse’s “Felicia seems legit” comment, she definitely has the juice and some neat little work arounds for projectiles, just lacking in the overhead department. We mostly just sat in mission/training mode with Felicia and X-23 and toyed with stuff there…not much to report other than stuff regarding those two.
