Free poo poo trash garbage tier team!

  1. I never said any of the games you just mentioned are garbage, the only time I’ve mentioned Tekken 6 Rage mode is when you complained about Ultra combos being some stupid comeback factor that rewards you for getting beat up. Rage essentially does the same thing, but it adds depth to the game, you can end combos early to avoid putting your opponent into rage, or you can put them into rage and bank on your Oki/life lead. Tekken is a good game, I’ve played Tekken since Tekken 2, I don’t play it seriously, it’s not garbage.

  2. Melty Blood is a good game, I don’t have a mem card hack otherwise I might play it more often. BlazBlue is a fun game, it has more problems than the previously mentioned two, but most of those issues are fixed in CS2 and I will be playing it again in the future, the current incarnation of BlazBlue is not a version of the game I wish to play in tournaments any longer, it is not an ass game, it’s still hella fun to push buttons. I am currently not playing to break muscle memory with Hazama in order to re-learn him when CS2 comes out on consoles, all of his BnB’s have changed.
The Alpha series was amazing (points to post above about forming own opinions). Guilty Gear is God Tier. Fist of the North Star is an interesting game, I have no interest in playing it due to no real attachment to the anime outside of laughing my ass off at Kenshiro blowing peoples heads up. The only times I’ve ever bashed on a game is when I was being facetious.

  3. K groove is from Samurai Showdown, not KoF. Don’t target me when saying people don’t like SNK games, I’ve played KoF competitively in the past (2k2 and 2k3 era), and will pick up KoF13 regardless of net code shortcomings that will inevitably be in the game due to SNK Playmore having 2 programmers on staff at the moment. Also, I played CvS2 extensively back between 2k2 and 2k6 (which is when I stopped playing fighters for a while).

  4. X-Factor is a roman cancel with a damage/ability buff attached to it, duration of the buff is dependent on how many characters you have remaining. If you don’t want to die, don’t get hit.

  5. Hulk now can combo in MvC3, please note, it’s MvC3, it’s a new game, live with the mechanics, push buttons, have fun.

  6. You’ve been so damn negative recently it’s been getting on my nerves, nothing personal, you just need to cut out the negativity, you were at one point a “community organizer” if i’m not mistaken, the statements you’ve been making do nothing for building a better fighting game community, it hurts it more than anything else. If I were a new player and came in here and saw your last few posts I would automatically assume “people here just hate games.”

final edit: Oh and because I might be behind when the game launches I shouldn’t attempt to have fun with it? Other’s also shouldn’t attempt to learn it either? Your logic escapes me. If people shouldn’t play a game because others are ahead of them already, how would the scene ever have grown in the SF4 era? I mean hell, by those standards Valle, Choi, Wong, Ortiz, Daigo, etc.'s existence should have told everyone “hey, you shouldn’t learn this game because you can’t beat these guys.”

“ok i lied this one is really the final edit” edit: Also, many games I don’t actively play because I don’t have time to really play Tekken, BBCS, SSF4, CvS2, MBAA, GGXX, MvC3, AH3, KoF13, and MK9. I have a regular life outside of fighting games, be it working freelance (as I am right now) or full time, and spending time with friends (yourself included) and women. I’ll pick the few I really want to play, and play those, which currently isssss…:
SSF4, MvC3, BBCS2, KoF13, the others I will likely continue to play on a slightly more than casual basis should I feel the want to play them at the time.

Hey, I’m all better and not contagious and free to play any time at all this week. I literally have nothing better to do.

You don’t need to lecture me about Guilty Gear, Guilty gear was my first fighting game and will always be my favorite.

Before I get into breaking down specific things, let me hit some basics:

  1. Don’t judge this game off of its gameplay videos. No one blocks on those videos. You could probably count the total blocks in all of them on one hand. Those are also just primarily simple chain combos, they are in no way reflective of what might the game become.

  2. Guilty Gear, Blazblue, Melty Blood, Vanaguard Princess, etc. All of these games exist in similar frame to MvC. Should MvC have recieved constant updates, I assure you that the inputs and other new ways to perform combos would likely have been added. Things have changed since MvC2, and MvC3 intends to change along with it.

  3. Don’t listen to the internet. The fact is, every game is bad in some way. The sad thing about fighting games is that if you develop with one skill in mind, or add a new feature that adds a new skill, you are taking away from some other element of the game, there is nothing you can do about that. Every game has bullshit, SSFIIT, HD Remix, Third Strike, KoF98, Tekken 3, Soul Calibur 2, all of these games have faults. Every fighting game has something about it that is an issue. What time can do however is give the players time to develop ways past the bullshit, this is what we see in MvC2, years of play and development finding ways to deal with the horrid bullshit that game is riddled with.

No matter the game, you will find haters. No matter how good a game is, there will be bullshit in it for competative players to overcome. What seperates the lasting games from the forgetable games is if the game allows the players to find ways to deal with this bullshit, by design (Guilty Gear XX: AC) or accident (SFII, MvC2). New games seem to have more because they are underdeveloped within the community. A good game takes time, not by the developers, but by the community itself.

Now from there, I can get into more direct and pointed things.

You haven’t labeled me a single thing that is present in TvC that has gone over to MvC3 other than the buttlayout, which is not a major issue impacting gameplay. How the attacks are layed out does not really matter. Many games use this format, and many of them play differently. MvC1 uses a SF layout, but plays drastically different from SF, and Darkstalkers again uses the same layout, but again, plays drastically different form both SF and MvC. The layout has minimual effect on how the game will be played.

Hulk can only do those combos in the corner. If Hulk gets you in the corner, you deserved to be ass raped by him. He’s bulky, slow, and heavy, getting you in the corner is very difficult for him. That’s the only way he can OHKO someone.

MODOK isn’t anything new to MvC. Crazy keepaway has existed before. Cabel can do what MODOK can PLUS has the ability to play a dangerous up close game. End of the day, MODOK is nothing more than Cabel with a flight mode and worse upclose game.

MvC3 looks to have a similar learning curve to SFIV, except it focuses on different avenues than links and footsies. If you took the time to learn SFIV, you can take the time to learn MvC3.

Sorry but I have to come out of retirement after reading this statement. I agree with your feelings that reading the posts would give someone the assumption that you guys “just hate games.” But speaking from personal experience after 2 trips to AIP you guys don’t hate games, you just don’t play anything besides SSF4 and the occasional BlazBlue. Building a better fighting game community involves everyone being open to play all sorts of fighting games, not just the two most current/popular ones.

didnt you say last time that when someone started up hd remix, everyone left to go play it? why are you even posting? I thought adam sent you away with your tail between your legs

what games do you even play? you didnt play ssf4 or hd remix…I can see if some hardcore 3s player came to aip and was disappointed no one was playing 3s, but why hate on a game that everyone wants to play

You weren’t here when we had an actual venue to play at, the tekken community, street fighter community, and animu community could all play in the same room with little concern. AIP was not ideal, having to run games in multiple rooms created a disconnect between groups, causing less games to be played, and, since this is Shoryuken, the street fighter community chose to continue organizing events here, where as the Tekken community has branched off since personal schedules and venue troubles have caused difficulty in scheduling anything for any large group of people to participate in. Seeing as AIP is not even a valid venue anymore we’re even more limited in what we can do, being limited to individuals houses = we’re gonna play what the house is playing.

RJ and Guissep you’re both good to ride with me so that makes:

RJ, Guiss, Mark, Rock Steady in my car

we’ll figure out details on how I’m picking you all up later this week

All of the above statements are true. Do you guys have multiple set-ups or the equipment to have multiple set-ups at anyone’s house? Small CRTs can be found on the cheap on Craig’s List. Or if you guys have the money you can buy some ASUS monitors. You can get the ones used at EVO 2009 for around $200 including shipping on Amazon. Everyone has a console I’m assuming so you wouldn’t have to buy additional consoles.

All this talk about game mechanics, playing for fun, playing to win… fuck all that. I do it for the ladies. Also, will everyone calm down with their way too long post length. Way too much shit to read. With that said, ignore the aftermath of this paragraph. RJ, go to the bottom for shit pertaining to you.

Jimmy, I have to agree with Bobby on your issue with us just liking ssf4. During our stay at Duquesne, we were in fact playing a lot of games. Tekken 6, Blaz Blue, SSF4, KOF, 3rd Strike, Guilty Gear, Marvel, and whatever else the rest of the crazy kids played on mame. We even played pool, ski ball, and basketball for that matter. And we played even better games like who could eat the most chicken wings (I won this a lot), who can steal the best chair, who can talk someone else into getting them a drink (typically used to steal someone elses chair), and so much more. You came in at the AIP decade where we were bitter about losing all of those great things we had access to just weeks prior. The Melty community was slowly phasing out and we were also losing the opportunities to play as frequently as we had done just a month prior because most of us were meeting up at Duquesne on Wednesday and Friday, then doing house visits throughout the weekends. Because of the infrequency, we were burnt out on ssf4 and more willing to play it as the only game throughout the night. Those were good times. And I recognize now that I forgot to do this, but thanks are in order to Stefon for making those possible. It was certainly an easier time and a far better way to build a community.

However, that thanks should be misinterpreted as “I’m cool with all of your hate and gives you thumbs up to continue.” We are all entitled to our own opinions and I feel that you have certainly overused yours in this thread. There has to be a better way for you to channel your vast amount of hatred for your own personal reasons as to why we are a shitty community, why new games will fail, how there are no new players out there, and how the same people who are on top will stay there. Did you know that I am now beating Adam? Fancy that! Especially considering how badly he used to beat me in all of those Duq. tournaments, but I was kicking the shit out of him the other day. Aaron is able to beat TJ too, how on earth could that be possible if noone ever got better or noone dedicated themselves to get better. On top of that, we have gotten new players and without a proper venue such as Duq. even. We are all excited about marvel 3. Some more than others as we can see by your example of Stephone. Personally, I think it will be a fun change of pace. I’ll get to start rushing down again in a game that favors such action. I pray that you are wrong and that it stays popular, but if it doesn’t, I’ll be cool going back to ssf4. All those touranment winnings will certainly help me sleep at night and live with just how improper and piss poor our community building skills are.

RJ, I should be on Wednesday after 5 and Thursday after 2. We should find someone else who is unemployed and free to play super street fighter 4 and only super street fighter 4 with us cough Adam cough Or maybe Tstone. Cause that is a game I play for fun and not for the ladies.

yeh multiple set ups for ssf4 you fucking jackass. listen if people are going to take the time and drive to rjs house or adams house to play ssf4 than guess what? they are gona play ssf4, this is what happens when you are dedicated to something, you play it and play it and play it some more.

“if you have the money” youre a fucking nurse, you clean out shitty bed pans, you have a woman’s job. I doubt youre even a top tier nurse. I know people who work as a nurse in the trauma unit and they needed many more years of school. you make a fraction of what a real doctor does. so im sorry if you feel shitty about your salary while at work and you need to flaunt it on srk

please go back to the “im going to evo, i dont have friends so lets hang out” thread and figure out what games you wana go 2 and out in, and spend the rest of the weekend crying about why so many people are playing ssf4 at evo

I concur!

I think what Rock Steady is attempting to say here is that yes, we have multiple set ups available, the problem with inviting an entire community to someones house is more than settups and sticks, consider the following:

  1. Space
  2. People you potentially don’t know in your house, making noise late at night, consider that most people who live downtown have housemates
  3. Parking, parking anywhere downtown is a pain in the ass, let alone in the back neighborhoods of the south side etc.

just to name a few.

Also, Jake, I take offense to your post, because my name is not bobby and you’re clearly agreeing with me

i’m just glad you can translate a pissed off college kid’s angry typing into something i can understand.

Thats what I thought

Must… refrain… from argument… just… want to… play ssf4… with… friends.

Dice, sorry. You post so many funking times that I last track of who said what. I concur with your point and feel that it is valid and as I’m sure you could tell, spurred a whole post paragraph for me.

Far more important than everything that has been said is this: Can we all start calling Giuseppe just “juice?” We can spell it Guiss. Or maybe call him Goose?

I like Juice, cause then we can call him “The Juice,” although Goose is good too, then we can form Team Top Gun, I’ll be Ice Man, Guiss will be Goose, we just need someone to be Maverick

EDIT OF UTMOST IMPORTANCE: I don’t think we should call him Juice, because that draws parallels to Juicebox, GOOSE IT IS

also: as I’m sure you are aware, my comment about offense was sarcastic, as 99% of my posts are

I know that. And Goose is a great idea. Maverick… maybe Me, considering I get the ladies and I like to lead everyone to victory… who knows. Someone come up with a better reason why they should be Maverick and you got it.
