Free Comic Book Day May 1 2010

Next Saturday is the best day of the year. No not Christmas! :arazz: That only rules when you’re 12 and don’t have to buy anything for anybody. When you get older all you get is socks and clothes that you will never wear again. :wasted: I’m talking about FREE COMIC BOOK DAY!

Here’s how it works. Walk into any Comic Book Store this Saturday and they will give you FREE COMICS! Every store does things differently. Some will only give you one comic. Some will give you 2 or more (the most I’ve ever gotten in one store is 8). Some will stick to the comics designated “FREE COMIC BOOK DAY” and some will go off the list and toss in a few random comics from their store. So visit as many stores as you can that Saturday!

Now for what’s most important. The books you can get FOR FREE!

Get some free comics on Saturday! It’s on me! Don’t say I never gave you nothin’!

I’m going for the Lady Gaga comic alone haha.

Had to edit my initial post slightly. It seems that Iron Man is coming out next weekend, May 7 and not this Weekend. So this is the first time in years Free Comic Book Day is not coming out alongside a comic book movie debut, that’s been happening every year since at least Spider-Man 3 as far back as I can recall.

Oh well, at least there are still 2 comic book movies in theaters now with Kick-Ass and The Losers that you may want to check out on FCBD if you haven’t already. I haven’t seen The Losers but Kick-Ass is AWESOME. Seen it twice now.

Mouse Guard and Fraggle Rock crossover? My mind just assploded…

Went to my local comic store today, since they’re actually closing. Picked up an Ultimate X-men Storm Bust for $25, which was a great deal since I love storm. Also picked up a trade, a variant, and a couple of other loose comics to try and see what I’m getting a taste for, comic-wise. Going to be getting a job next month, probably, so I wanna try to see if there’s a series I might be interested in

Support FCBD!

I was able to pick up 5 free comics, but I got there late, DAMN WORK!!

But I did picked up Salem’s Daughter 2-3 (I love Zenescope Comics), Power Girl 10-11, Return to Wonderland #2 for 1$.

Same as every year I visited 5 comic book stores and picked UP close to 30 comics heh heh! :lovin: Some of the books were from the FCBD list and some were not so it’s a big mix of stuff.

I got the Heroclix War Machine figure. He’s up on my shelf of statues and toys fighting against the Heroclix Iron Man figure I got a few years ago when FCBD fell on the same weekend Iron Man 1 came out.

The Fraggle Rock / Mousegaurd comic was very cool! Half of it was a Fraggle Rock Story and the other half was a Mousegaurd one.

The book full of comic strips from the Library of American Comics is excellent! I’m not much of an Archie fan but you do get to see the very first time that Archie met Veronica in the strips. And there’s a Blondie strip that took place way before she married Dagwood. I had no idea Dagwood came from a rich family before he married Blondie. You learn something new every Free Comic Book Day.

My favorite read so far was the G.I. Joe comic. Lary Hamma picks up right after he left off after G.I. Joe #155 and will continue his original run with G.I. Joe #156 coming soon!

Iron Man / Thor story had nice art but it sure was strange. :looney: The Iron Man / Nova book was cute. The Superman book convinced me to buy War of the Supermen so mission accomplished. :clapdos:

Oh yeah I did get to check out The Losers movie yesterday too. It’s alright and had its moments but nothing special. A rental at best. Kick-Ass movie is WAAAAAY better. Iron Man 2 next week!
