Coinciding with the new Wolverine movie, this Saturday is Free Comic Book Day! Walk into a comic book store and pick up some comics, FOR FREE! Listing of books you can get this year -
I wonder if Borders does FCBD as well? I would love to get a copy of BN #0 and that Avengers story.
Though having Thor on the cover means nothing if he doesn’t do stuff in the comic itself, but then again one should get used to misleading comic covers:looney:
Still I would really like it if they would also release these FCBD issues as downloadable PDF files for countries that may not have FCBD
sweet!.. i was just about to go online and check to see if FCBD was this Saturday or next Saturday… i gotta go to my buddy’s comic shop and do a few signings… i got a small knot of fans that go there… and i promised him if he sold my comics in the store i’d come by on FCBD and sit around… for spark i guess?.. whoo!.. too bad FCBD only comes once a year… luckily it’s the first Saturday in the month of my birthday…
Every store does things different. Some give you 1 Free Comic - :bluu: - Some give you 2 and up. The most I ever got from one store was five. And some stores go off the list and offer other comics in the store they either want to promote or get rid of.
If there are a lot of stores by you then visit as many as you can. It’s possible to get all of them! I usually stop when I get all the books I want. :bgrin:
really? the W.Shat is goona be at your comic shop?.. well if you see him tell em that G-dub said ‘Rocketman just fizzled Captain!’… he’ll know what you mean…
Gonna be hitting up a new shop this year, so I dunno what their policy it. My old one allowed only 1 comic from the free list, and 1 shitty back issue they couldn’t get rid of (like crappy West Coast Avengers comics and the like). Hopefully this place allows more than 1 free comic, as I also want both the Avengers and Blackest Night comics. Maybe I can get the Jump special as well for dat ULTIMO.
Heh, USAgent used to crack me up in his mini when he said something along the lines of, “First they couldn’t handle me as Captain America and then they sent me over to those rejects and losers on the West Coast Avengers!”
Ah well it was nice to have a team that was not located in NY City. I even live in NY and I agree that we have too many Marvel heroes here… At least Thor and X-Men are in other states. There’s the 50 State Initiative thing but it looks like no one cares about them much… :wonder:
Funny but the second volume of Rumiko Takahashi’s (Urusei Yatsura, Ranma 1/2 and Inuyasha) FREE online manga called Rin-Ne will be available tomorrow too! First volume’s up now.
I agree that Blackest Night was indeed awesome. Made me get into Green Lantern pretty much. As far as Ultimo goes…I read that like ages ago, didn’t think too much of it…

I’ve read about half of the books. The Avengers and Blackest Night were both great. Dug the Aliens story in Aliens / Predator too. DC Kids was cute. John Stanley’s book was lots of fun.
I read Ultimo before in Shonen Jump so I didn’t pick up the free copy. Thought it was alright when I read it. Kinda funny that Stan Lee snuck himself into the story. I want Stan Lee in Jump Super Stars 3 for my Nintendo DS DAMN IT! :clown:
Really good selection of free goodies this year! :clapdos:
Don’t remember seeing it. Honestly doesn’t look like something that would interest me though. Not crazy about the art style really. To each his own I guess.
Just to point out that not every store offers every FCBD book. Actually not one store I visited had every book. You kind of get a mix of everything. On top of that, stores have limits to how many you can take. The most I saw, one store let you take 8, then the next was 5, and then it went to 4 or 2. So you wind up getting the stuff you want, the stuff that interests you, the stuff that sort of interests you and call it a day.
Perhaps saddened would’ve been a better word, but Atomic Robo’s writing eventually makes you open up to the art.
I still recommend giving it a read though.
Meh, nothing that exciting for me, but hey, they’re free!
But I was really psyched when I saw the Black and White TMNT stuff. I mean, wow, are they still drawing that? Or is it just re-hashed compilation books? I would love to pick some of that up if its coming out. Any info?
