Hey, I read about what happened. Sorry to hear about that. I was going to donate, too. Is there still a chance I can get in on the beta?
Any updates soon?
when is the actual release date for the program? and if possible can I become part of the beta testing group?
Even though you guys haven’t been updated in a while, we are still working on it! The reason for that is multifaceted so please excuse the long post following!
We’re currently talking with Capcom USA and creating a proposal to get Frame Trapped 3 officially licensed. After the cease and desist on our IndieGoGo campaign they gave us appropriate contact details and encouraged us to talk about the project openly in a more official context. This was fantastic and we contacted them saying we were interested in finding out more about the official process for getting an application licensed.
This is all rather new so there is nothing confirmed yet at all, and to make sure there is no misunderstanding: Capcom have not said they will or won’t officially license Frame Trapped 3 - what they have done is helped us find the correct channels to see if we can license it through them. They have been fantastic with their communication and I have the correct contacts to talk to regarding movement forward with the project. I am incredibly thankful for their help, it really boosts my esteem in Capcom. This level of contact also means fewer “ifs” and “buts” (should we get a successful go ahead) and we’ll have a clearer understanding of what we can or cannot do.
This a great opportunity for both sides, so I don’t see much of an issue myself, but there are many things that need to be decided so that remains to be seen if it goes into negotiations.
Should the Frame Trapped and Capcom relationship grow (as I hope it will) it would mean a better FT3 than we had previously imagined, a new experience for PC players and an extra platform for Capcom to show their community they care and are listening.
The reason the Frame Trapped team have not published anything yet is that Capcom have been kind enough to allow us to run a closed beta (nothing publicly facing) while we sort out the nuts and bolts of any proposals. That way everything can be squeaky clean if it goes ahead; we won’t have stepped on any toes and still have the chance to develop from bug reports on our beta list.
Overall, I feel positive and we’ll see what the future brings. We’ll try to keep you updated, regardless of the outcome. Although I may not be able to talk about certain things, please feel free to ask questions.
tl;dr: we’re talking to the Capcom bros. Chill.
Congrats on the possible license agreement. but no matter what decision is made, I know that TF3 will be amazing no matter if its licensed or not. I’m an avid street fighter. I go to local tournaments, regionals and the occasional major. I would love to use this program to better myself and my community, we are almost like family. so please keep us posted on any updates with Capcom. Good luck bros!
Hi Tom, how are you? I hope you are doing well.
Can I kindly ask you: how much is going to take for frametrapped 3 to be released? Is it going to be this year? or do you guys don’t really know (testing and fighting against some bugs??)
I appreciate a lot your effort with this my friend, I can’t wait for start composing some deadly combos and learning them trough rhythm!
BleSS!
Hey @SebastianZ,
I’m doing well! The Christmas crunch time is upon us at my workplace so it’s a busy time of year. Time for a wall-o-text update:
First and foremost: It’s not going to be released this year. We sent our proposal to Capcom USA to see if we can get it officially licensed and I talked to Matt Dahlgren earlier this week. He said not much can be done this year (understandably as they have a busy Christmas too) so to hold off on any development, this of course doesn’t stop us from working on it though.
We’re reconvening in January to go through the proposal but it’s likely Capcom Japan won’t let the project go through and they will tell us to shut it down. So we’re at a bit of a standstill with what to do. We want to give the fighting game community this application (for free mind you) but we’re also not wanting to piss off Capcom now that we have their attention. With that in mind we’ve also been trying to give Capcom the opportunity to be part of this process, to make changes so their brand is represented respectfully, and to benefit from collaborating to show the community they care about giving them good content on PC.
I can’t see how this would not be beneficial for both Capcom and Frame Trapped so I will keep on fighting to try and make this happen. If you want to help, let them know that you want this: tweet out to @CapcomFighters, tell them you would love to use it, any positive exposure that shows them you guys want this will help us immensely. We need to let Capcom know that this is great for their gamers, that this will help their image on PC and that it’s a great opportunity to grow their community and player-base on the PC platform.
Any updates on the project? Really hoping this gets a green light from Capcom.
@Shwig I’m talking with Matt Dahlgren on Friday, however he’s saying it doesn’t look good. As to the details of what the means, I’ll find out on Friday but it could be more than possible they want to shut us down.
That’s terrible : / I was really hoping for things to go well. What you’re trying to do for the game, and the community, is a good thing. I can’t imagine what they have against the frame trapped project. Fingers crossed.
Can I suck your dick? I was waiting forever for this.
@Xeolleth Thank you so much. I’ve been playing around with FT the past couple of hours and I’m in love with it. The sound cues really help. My only question is, where do I find the character library?
I made some scripts for FT last night. There should be relatively common/useful (I hope) combos for about half the cast in this file.
(The file is on my site for now.)

We’re glad to hear that you like it! The library is not included in this release, unfortunately.
I’m messing around with cody and no matter how close I set the timing I can’t get it to FADC forward (or backward) after criminal upper. It just causes a lvl1 focus attack to come out. Any ideas?
It’s hard to say what the problem may be. Try adding some wait frames before you press MK and MP. Try adding some wait frames between MKMP and the dash. You can also try holding MP and MK while dashing.
Here’s an example. This script does Criminal Upper -> FADC in 2 different ways. I’ve not tested the script against a whole lot of characters, but it should work on Ryu.

You’re probably inputting the dash too soon. I’m guessing you’re inputting the FA during the start-up of CU, then the dash before the buffer window for that even appears. That’s usually my issue when doing it.
@lullius That did it, thanks a lot for the help. I’ve never really worked with frame data up until now.
