Oh and while we can’t use the lab this weekend. There have been some… developments… within the department. Gary Messick (The Dean of Software Engineering, among other things) has been talking to the head of Buildings and Grounds.
And boy, has it been interesting. Turns out, he knows you guys aren’t Indiana Tech Students, but he just doesn’t give a fuck. What he does give a fuck about? He has noticed that the lab has never looked better, that we always leave the place cleaner than when we found it. That we have never destroyed any piece of equipment in the lab. So I must say, kudos and thank you to you guys for just being you. I’ve always appreciate it, and when a Dean says that, it’s something to be proud of, so pat yourselves on the back. He also knows that unlike the rest of the school, we payed for all the computers in here ourselves, and that we hang out in the lab a lot. Therefore, he’s just glad that the monitors, projector, computers are getting use.
Anyways, he sent a proposal to the head of B&G basically stating: Look, either tell Securitas to leave my students alone in our room, and let them do what they want, or: take us off the “lab” status so that Securitas doesn’t disrupt our students. Either way, things are looking good…And, in my personal opinion, idk if you are the head of B&G, if a fucking DEAN of a program tells you to make your …“lackeys (bad choice of words, but I can’t think of a better term at the moment)” back the fuck down and leave these people alone, you fucking do it. I’ll keep you guys updated with how the situation unfolds, but I hope for the best.

also it is weird that the higher ups of your school feels strongly in our favor of something like this. it will be a nice day when the guards no longer need to check in on us and honestly i’m sure they will be happy too as it’s one less thing for them to stew over.
Bad news, we can’t use the lab anymore because you guys aren’t students basically. I don’t know how the head of B&G won, but we lost. I don’t know the details of how this transpired, but all we can do is hope that the Securitas gets shitty with the Software Engineers sometime and then allow us to be ourselves. I’m really sorry guys. I don’t know where we can play now, but the organization and hosting of our weekly gatherings are no longer in my control.
