IP laws actually protect for parody so those “pissed on” graphics are fine, as well as your hentai example. I also had those art classes talking about intellectual property infringment…
If he did redraw his own artwork then it would be less frowned on, but photoshop and reprinting is something that these companies frown on. They live and die by their characters in the games. Using them as sales incentives are probably the key issue. when you use it for personal use like your name id tag they probably encourage that but to stick it on a product for sale is the key issue that has probably drawn their attention here.
You all could probably get around it all but just reprinting it yourself and then put it in there.

yo, i think it’d be coo’ if you used the capcom artwork as long as you gave 'em credit somewhere on the stick. just like, in the bottom right corner, in a very discrete spot, put “copyright of capcom”.
maybe that’ll wave the legal bullshit. 'cause on websites, if you use their artwork, as long as you give 'em reference, then it’s all gravy.

In about a month or two I’m going to be in the market for a stick. You still going to be doing them at that time or are you stopping? I like your designs and I have a few ideas for some custom artwork that’s not even game related. I’m looking to get a dualshock controller set up, not 3rd party, a p360, flat buttons and I’d like them arranged like they are on the dreamcast green goblin. Is that possible? Let me know. I appreciate it.

I still want eight face buttons. Will that work as well? I want to use this for fighting games and for my emulators. What would I be lookin’ at, price wise, for all of that, and a converter for the DC and Xcrate?
