Wow. You were about to close your register? Big woop. It’s an easy ass job.
Ok, let me make this simple for a simple person. I cannot break a 100 right before I close my register. A 100 messes up the contents of the register so that I cannot close. I have to refuse the 100, I’m told to by management. So, yes I was correct in doing what I did in that situation. I love how you don’t fully understand the situation, but you assume, assume, assume.
I wish I could, but I didn’t want to lose my job.
I never implied that it was a difficult job. I just felt like venting about an annoying customer. I deal with many and I just wanted to write about it, try fully reading posts or don’t post please.
The job is fine, I enjoy it, but no, as I’ve said many times already I could not take the 100. It’s just how it works, why do people act like they understand the policy of my store more than I do? Again, I could not take it, I have to close in a very specific way. Management is very anal about it and tells you you cannot take big bills like that. There was another cashier their that could do that near closing.
Yea, I’ve worked retail for almost 5 years at two different places. Annoying assholes will be annoying. I try to remember that most assholes probably just hate their life and are really sad people. It can get to you though over time.
So is this thread about people that don’t know how to handle a customer service job while working customer service jobs?
He was right about absolutely nothing. The fact that I couldn’t take that 100 is the law of the land, you don’t know better than I do about the situation people so just shut the fuck up please. I couldn’t take the 100, do I need to say it 1000 more times? He ignored me when I said I couldn’t break the 100. He tells me to get the scratch off, regardless of my inability to break the 100 even though ONLY HE knew that he only had 100’s to pay for it. Then gets mad at me for his idiocy. I remain calm and courteous and handled the situation correct like the professional person that I am.
Followed management rule and store policy. Check.
Politely turned down the customer. Check.
Stayed calm and ignored insult. Check
I handled it fine based on the rules, no one can expect more for the shitty pay I get there.
No, I handled it perfectly. This thread is about people who are illiterate apparently.
I don’t know, because you shouldn’t be closing your register until somebody else has their shit open; or because a lot of us have worked register long enough to know that there is a lot of information that makes your story hella suspect. So answer a couple of questions so that we may understand your ordeal better:
Were you the only register in the store?
If not, were there other registers open?
Was somebody relieving you of your register (as in, you had to close so the other person could open)?
Was the store about to close?
If it wasn’t, and you were the only register, why were you closing it?
If it was and costumers were coming in, why didn’t you just say you couldn’t take any money PERIOD?
Lastly, why did you bother a manager if its that much of a pain for them?
So you see, we are not stupid, we are not Sherlock Holmes either, but we are definitely going to take a sob story at face value especially when it all points towards you being a cunt. So please if you could just provide us with a little bit more information before people start liking my post as a way to neg yours; and more importantly, before we throw you into the loving arms for plenty of SRK GDers waiting to tell you to: Man the fuck up and do your damn job, it ain’t hard.
Welcome to SRK, we have plenty of stupid people, but we don’t play no bitch moves.
This thread is a big deal to me.
Here’s why: For years, I’ve been saying that it is almost certain that many people call convenience stores “convenient stores” and do so regularly because they’ll never be called out on it. The reason being, they sound the same.
By the way, I work in retail foods. I eat less shit than any of my co-workers. Be mindful of how you carry yourself, on the clock.
It’s cool when people give me 100’s in any other situation than the one I mentioned, it’s a pain in the ass, but no problem for me. I take 100’s all the time from mexican workers who like to come into shops like mine. I just couldn’t do it then and that man inappropriately responded to me because of it.
Old people that work at retail places definitely don’t trust kids under 16. It’s just the way it goes. The people I work with will make you put your backback at the front if your young, but not if your old. Sometimes they get a little ridiculous with it. Kinda lame that they just assumed you were trying to steal a dollar though, wtf? Really, why would they think they’re trying to steal another dollar from them?
Yes, wishing to knock a guy out over some petty shit is REAL perfect. Also you didn’t handle it perfectly, you could have broke the bill you just didn’t feel like it.
Ok, now you’re getting ridiculous. Hella suspect? Are you a detective that’s going to take me to internet jail? Lol, I had my manager on an open register right next to me that answers almost all your questions. Either take it or leave it, if you want to think I’m fruading, then please do and leave.
Because things like 5’s and 10’s generally will still leave me with enough money to close. A 100 wouldn’t. And yes, If I didn’t have the proper drawer contents I would have to turn down even smaller bills and direct them to my coworkers register.
Lol, basically I showed you that you’re wrong. You get salty and come make a big internet detective post accusing me of making up a story. Then you tell me to man up and do my job because it’s not hard.
Welcome to English dude, do you read? I said the job ain’t hard, and I handled the situation politely and based on my best understanding of store policy. End of story.
I’ve already explained why I can’t break the bill in detail, try reading for once in your life. Also, there’s no policy on not thinking certain things, this isn’t 1984 and there’s no such thing as a thought crime, bud. On the exterior I was polite and handled it by the book.
I’m probably gonna start putting the trolls on ingore, so don’t be mad when I don’t respond.
This is why being self-employed is nice. Customer service is important to me, and I do have to stay political sometimes when dealing with stupid customers, but I at least enjoy the discretion of being able to tell them “Sorry, I don’t need your business that badly” when I need to.
And OP: I’ve been there. You did right by your corporate masters, however you should get out of retail as soon as you possibly can.
What the hell happened to no swearing in the titles?
I’m out of retail probably forever (heh hopefully, but maybe not) at the end of December.
Is that against the rules? Should I edit?
I once had a credit card issue at a Red Robin. There was a very minor dispute, and the waitress ended her next sentence in *SIR. *You know, saying it as if she’s holding a lot back … as if it’s the most sarcastic thing in the world … as if “sir” = “you fucking piece of shit.”
That shit drove me up a wall.
But you didn’t handle it. At most you were given a minor inconvenience and at best, like 3 minutes worth of hassle. If you were closing your register, you wouldn’t be accepting any transactions period. You never stated that your manager was next to you; you didn’t state much of anything. You could’ve directed the costumer to your register, you could have told him that the next person after you closed was going to handle the transaction, when he came in you could’ve told him that you could no longer take sales because the register is closed. There’s a million things that you could’ve done to prevent him from calling you an idiot yet you did none of them. You got called out by a customer for being shitty; everything in your story, especially if there where other register open points to you fucking up.
Sounds like a bitch, now she shouldn’t have done that. I would have tried to fix your problem and then apologized for the trouble.
I think your problem is that your an addict dude! making excuses to take more drugs is a fuckin sign of that shyt.
I use to have a friend like this that would complain about little shyt at work, like doing his job for instance, turns out he was hooked on adderal and OXy and became an avid liar, stole from the company, and kinda lost his mind. (happens with drugs, they miss guide you to get you take more trips until you realize you way of thinking is the wrong one, something bad happens, or you realize that drugs open to a worm hole of chaos… gettin high is gettin high right
Why do big bills fuck up the count? lmao
do you need a certain number of bills or what?
Well, most kids at 16 do try to steal shyt cuz they are still under the impression that it might be cool, they NEED an item (convince themselves), or trouble makers.
not all kids steal, but if it happens enough, they fuck it up for the rest !
Some dude at U-haul came in while I was cleaning another truck, by the time I turned in the ticket and he came in the store, it was 7:00pm and we were closed so he was charged a late rental
He tried to like scare me and run me over… I saved his address, name, everything incase I wanted to kill him
My co-worker also charged his credit card up the ass.
don’t come in at 6:58 and expect smooth sailing assholes.
Lol, you fail to read yet again. I did not know that he only had 100’s to pay. People ask me if I can break 100’s plenty and most of the time I do, but when I don’t they usually have another method of payment. I assumed that he did, I was wrong. The other register was 2 feet away, he has eyes correct? Upon hearing that I couldn’t break the 100 he could have immediately gone to the other register, correct? He didn’t, and that’s on him. If he had specificied that he only had 100’s to pay with, then I would have directed him to the other register as you say. He even took out a 100 and then put it back in his wallet after I said I couldn’t take it like he was gonna pull something else out he could use. Really dude, if you read my posts most of this info I’ve already gone over. You lose, please leave.
Lol, I was more or less just kidding, man. Zoloft is an anti-depressant that I took for a month and quit a while back. You shouldn’t take those kind of drugs if you don’t really need them and I don’t, so I quit. Psychiatrists generally will always put you on something even if there’s nothing wrong with you.
