Forgetting Everything (SSF4AE)

So I’ve been playing UMVC3 for probably the past month or so and I fired up SSF4AE again just to see how I would do because I missed that game. Turns out, I suck. Like a lot. It feels like I’m starting out day 1 for some reason. I keep jumping in, I’m not patient, and I’ve lost all sense of spacing because UMVC3 made me think all about rushing down all the time. :stuck_out_tongue:
The worst part is, I know what I’m doing wrong, and it makes me feel even more scrubby lol.

Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else before and how they got over it because this is one of the most discouraging things ever haha.

I’d imagine that this is something that will simply return to you after some extended play?

Yeah, I’ve come back after a good while of not playing and have felt the same way. It’s probably harder for you because you’ve become accustomed to one system.
I worked my way back up and I’d like to believe I’m better than I was. Kicking the jumping habit and regaining patience were probably the main aspects of adjusting again.

It’s about relearning the match-ups as well, not just your character. I started to dread seeing Evil Ryu, for example, but all it required was a bit more patience.

Happens to everybody. You just didn’t play the game enough where you’re able to retain most of your skill. Spend some time practicing and you’ll be fine.

Practice, practice, practice, is the answer to 75% of people’s questions.

Thanks guys, totally the answer I was expecting but not the one I wanted to hear
Hard work to regain what I should have had before… haha ah well, I guess it’s not how badly you fail, but how quickly you get back up after you fall down.

Won’t take as long as it did the first time. It’s like riding a bike after several years. You’re a bit rusty at first, but you’ll get the hang of it in no time.
