Force of Three- The Nova Teambuilding Thread

Yeah, dat shitty range. I like his assist with characters that don’t need the help with their pressure rather than Neutral. Nova’s Pressure is fine on it’s own. But then again, alot of assists do both. Like Task in his case.

I’ve never been much of a Task player, but shouldnt Hawkeyes assist be similar enough to Tasks to work in the same role? According to the numbers it’s the same durability but just slightly faster.

They are both very good and very similiar options. Greyhound is faster (which is good), Legion Arrow is a bit slower, but as a result, it locks them down for slightly longer (also good).

Personally, I like TaxMaster’s DHC’s with Nova better, but I really don’t know how to play him, so I can’t really talk about how he stacks up to Hawkeye as a character.

That’s what I figured. Was just wondering about the synergy of “Team Combofiend” assuming that’s the one he actually goes with. Seems like it may be very intimidating to face if you build some decent meter, since there is the big threat of Bionic Arm and Gimlet punishing the opponent, combined with how dead easy it is to fit in Hawkeye’s level 3 in to combos - I have not tested it but you may even have time to switch him in after a hard knockdown from Super Nova which is basically like giving Nova a level 3 hyper combo.

I’ve played around extensively with team ComboFiend (Hawkeye was my first choice for the Sentinel Slot), but I really like the utility that Drones gives Nova, and also, Hawkeye doesn’t do much damage, and having Gimlet as a DHC is always pretty weak.

However, knowing ComboFiend, he’ll do Nova/Hawk/Spenc, I had my config Nova/Spencer/Hawk for Combo reasons.

Yeah, Drones are good for anyone really… but having played Sent and Wesker all through Vanilla I cant force myself to do it very often anymore. I dabble with them occasionally but I felt forced all through Vanilla, and the majority of bad memories of Vanilla had to do with that. So I’ve been spending time with the alternatives in UMvC. If I ever feel I really need to go back to Sent I can, but I’m going to do all I can to prevent that since I just don’t enjoy the character.

Hawkeye does have a bit less combo/hyper/dhc damage, but the fact that he can combo from full screen w/o assists and the well timed use of Gimlet sort of alleviates that. Nova/Spencer can handle the combos for the team anyway lol.

Yeah, I hate the robot too. I’m working on a replacement, but I keep coming back to the Drones…

I play Nova/Task/Deadpool

Deadpool doesnt really fit in with nova, katanarama make me able to “extend” the combo for easy 800k damage but nova can already do this by himself, if i just stepped my execution up (but it’s a nice warranty to have, if i screwed the jS in the combo and dont have enough time for =>H)
With taskmaster it allow me to get a full combo from sting master wich is nice.

I might go to quick work tho. seeing as both task and Nova can quickly overheads, might make some nice unblockable setup, might try that this week.

as for the Nova-x23 comparaison…i dont know, x-23 was also deadly with the baby first mixup projectile assit + Mirage feint M, and Nova shouldnt go diagonally to much, seing as jS is begging for a punish. Also x-23 got zoned hard, try to zone nova = you get either the gravimetric setup + javelin (or super) or some centurion rush to the face.

x-23 had a safe spamm-this-until-it-hit sL and cL Nova…not so much.

Nova actually has plenty of safe normals, but you have to hitconfirm for real, none of the mashing 2A baby stuff.

Hello forum! I’m new to Marvel, but I have watched alot since february. I’ve decided to use Nova and Wesker, the thing is… I dont know my last character… any tips? Thanks guys.

Just FYI, Nova/Wesker doesn’t really do anything. The characters don’t benefit from each other’s assists at all and the DHC’s are pretty bad.

Yeah I noticed that aswell, but I love Wesker!

What team would you recommend for a beginner that has Nova in it. Something with Dormamu or Doom maybe?

Dorm not so much. Doom is a good option though, and I am a believer that Nova should always be played with Spencer.

Your going to eed a character with a good Get In Assist. Someone with a beam or Sent Drones

does spencer/task/nova sound like it could work really good together?

Yes, but you have the order all wrong.

It shoudl be:
Nova/Spenc/Tax (my preferred)
or
Spenc/Nova/Tax

Thanx but the order was not final. I just listed the characters, btw what assist work good between spencer and nova?

Spencer can get huge damage off the Aegis reflector assist, but I’m not sold on that because of the red life thing… So probably the overhead.

Slant Shot is amazing for Nova. It’s the reason that I keep referring to Nova Spencer as BFFs.

I’m trying out Nova/Spencer/Taxmaster and I love the team so far. I love how Nova can be patient and zone a bit and rushdown when needed, and Horizontal arrows are slow enough for me to combo if it hits. Is there any decent way to DHC from Nova to Spencer in the corner? If I end Nova’s combo with a grounded super Nova, I can DHC into Spencer easily, but I’m not sure about DHCs from an aerial Super Nova.

Also, I’m still missing the timing for a Nova BnB into Spencer assist and Human Rocket Punch crumple.

After :f::h:, what’s the timing for Spencer assist and Nova’s H cancelled into Human Rocket Punch? I usually hit my opponent while they’re still being pulled in from Spencer’s grapple and end up with a wallbounce instead of crumple.

I’m gonna put up my vid that should clear up the Nova/Spencer DHC thing tomorrow. Doing the last bit of recording tonight.

As for the timing, I call spencer a hair after Nova’s 6C hits the ground.
