Based on what my female friends told me, Japanese girls prefer being called cute over sexy. I mean they do like being complimented, but they don’t like it when guys(besides their boyfriends or whatever) talk about their figures or sexiness despite a lot of them showing off their figure/legs/etc…unless they’re specifically fishing for those types of compliments.
I dunno, it’s complicated to me too, so I just took the safe route and called them cute if they ever asked.
Sounds like women just with a bit more “stupidity” in this case but thanks for the heads up.
