I’m willing to give this film a chance.
lol the amount of stuff their taking from the ultimates run is hilarious…and its pretty clear most of the people bitching about the age thing have never read it. theres alot to cry about…but the age thing isnt one of em.
You can say whatever you want, but it isn’t fooling anybody we can all see you’re just behaving like a typical butthurt nerd on the internet because we have such a shortage of those. “wahhhhh this company is doing something I don’t like so they’re wrong and my way is the right way”…yeah that’s a healthy and level headed attitude that lends credibility to your view point clearly.
I was just making fun of the fact that you see a 3 minute trailer and you’re judging literally the entire script already…that’s interwebs 101 doe lol, also a script and a film let alone the trailer are completely different products, but hey you’re free to lazily generalize if you want lol.
As @crotchpuncha said in the VGG thread you can whine and bitch and complain about something all you want, it’s your opinion you’re entitled to feel anyway you want, but the moment you start thinking that a creator of a product owes you something and is somehow required to do what you want them to do is the moment you start spouting conjecture. You can explain how you would like things to be done and why you feel that way and make your case of why your view point is in anyway superior or more logical or whatever to that of the creator who’s currently in control, but that’s critiquing and what you’re doing is throwing a hissy fit and making drive by judgements of the final product when all you have to go on is a 3 minute trailer.
EDIT: FYI there are a ton of reboots of film I love that immediately make me think “ugh film X was perfect the way it was, this reboot is clearly just a cheap cash grab with no respect to how or why the original worked as well as it did”…then I remembered it’s the U.S. people are free to do whatever they want it’s not my place to tell them how to do things, I have my opinions sure, but they are just that opinions, and besides no reboot of a film will change the existence of the original film that I liked it’s still there.
While space travel and interdimensional travel are fairly different, them being hit by cosmic rays can still be the same. It’s the atmosphere of a planet that blocks such radiation from bombarding the surface (and therefore us).
Rather than king of a country, they could have made Dr. Doom a prince or something. Still young, still powerful, and can still be geeky and cybernetic, and have the financial backing of a country. Then in the middle or towards the end, have his father die so he is actually the king.
Just watched second trailer. Still not interested. I wouldve liked more for a fun, brighter, fantastic four. Basically i wouldve liked the overall tone to be like the first fantastic four movie, just with a non shitty doom, and no jessica alba. The cast for that first movie was basically perfect except jessica alba.
Also, for those of us not currently in the 12th grade, or recently graduated high school, how many more times do we need to see doom. While i love doom, im not confident they will ever do him justice, and here he is again for the third time.
Aesthetically, i think the cast for the f4 is horrible this go round, minus grimm, cause who cares what he looks like. Doom we havent seen much of at all, but just know who his character is suppose to be, and it sounds mediocre compared to the egotistical, honorable, villain, that is one of the smartest people in the marvel universe, and also is a talented sorcerer.
When it comes to doom, i think they shouldve just tried something different this time. Like make dooms origin story be he saw some unexplainable shit happen that killed his mom, which took him down a path of studying the occult alongside becoming the rich genius he is to be. He could have last been looking into nazi occult shit before his incident that turned him into doom (if they still chose to go that ultimate route), which could later tie into some hydra shit for marvel, and introduce low level sorcerer doom. I dont know how they would tie that all together with the others, thats up to them. I’m just pointing out, finally introducing some magic to these “marvel” movies would be a breath of fresh air.
Magic is only slightly hinted on in Thor, and mutants are only allowed in xmen movies i believe, until that contract does whatever. So someone get some balls, stop trying to make realistic comic book movies, and toss some magic and aliens up in this bitch.
The new ff4 will flop because fox is the worst, and they dont wanna make something good. If they simply wouldve taken the first movie and tweaked it for the most part, making it a little less campy, adding in a new enemy outside of doom (preferably an alien), and a sorcerer/tech genius doom, along with a non shitty cast for the ff4, we might have had something going on. Instead so far i see this dark, depressing ff4 movie, that is so far about nothing.
None of this is shocking, considering the director of the chronicle is behind this movie.Yet another movie wasting doom. Doom was a genius, and mystic, who saw his mother get murdered by mephisto, and ran a fucking country. Now in the remake hes a programmer with an online tag of Doom. The nigga aint even at least a genius billionaire. Eh, whatever
Some of y’all clearly aren’t big comics readers. This movie is based on Ultimate Fantastic Four, and so far looks pretty damn faithful to that series.
I personally enjoyed the UFF, but can easily admit that it’s version of Doom sucks. It is too bad that we’ll probably never see the Doom we want on screen, however I can see that it would be hard to translate to a film. Part of what makes Doom great is that he is always out there and can’t simply be defeated like every other movie bad guy.
I’m pretty sure 90 percent of the people here know this is based on the ultimate universe, as were the previous movies. Its just that it looks terrible in general from the casting choices, to who doom is now (an antisocial programmer). lol
Is Sue half black now or did they take off the relation between Johnny and Sue?
Actually it is. Traveling to the negative zone is how they got their powers in the Ultimate continuity.

I believe she is the adopted sister to Johnny in the film.

I liked Ultimate Doom. The goat legs and Latvia being a hippie settlement wasn’t bad at all. Warren Ellis made that shit work. It’s shame that future writers undid all that and made him more like classic doom.
I just want Doom, Galactus, Annihilus, Uatu, and the Skrulls, back in Marvel’s hands…could give two fucks less about the actual FF
Here’s the movie poster

That poster looks generic as fuck… So sad they are sticking with bad art direction and the ultimate universe. Why won’t Fox see that these boring ass costumes didn’t work for GI Joe and they sure as hell don’t work for FF
This movie is going to fucking bomb
Could they find a more jewish looking asshole to play Reed? Like holy shit this movie gonna be banned in the ME.
Reed looks bad…
Johnny…no need to go there
Sue looks like twice the age of anybody else
Thing looks moderately better than last time
Doom looks like a cosplayer with a paper mache costume
this movie will do decent, don’t kid yourselves, but it’s got too many obstacles to overcome and the fans that the movie is being made for won’t like it. It’ll get like 100-200 mill probably, but that is nothing compared to the money Marvel makes with it, or would be willing to buy that shit back from them. I can see Disney having to fork out cash to just end this nonsense. And letting them keep X-Men, and pretty much abandoning the X-Men in comics until ???

I got no problem with drawing from the Ultimate universe as it has a lot of great material and it fits better with the modern age.
^for me it was really hit and miss and they seem to be only going for the misses
