I can see Fox shitting out an animated movie in a desperate attempt to hold on to the rights. They don’t have their own animation studios anymore so they would have to outsource an animated project.
I actually watched this last night. First bit wasn’t bad, as you wonder where the movie could go. Then it goes nowhere.
Nothing says excitement like several scenes of Thing in the dark, having discussions with random military assholes. Or endless shots of people walking down corridors.
Like 90% of that movie was filmed indoors or in front of a green screen.
Was somebody in a cave for the past 12 months? All the signs had pointed to the fact that this would be a stinker.
The only way it could have been more obvious was if Uwe Boll was directing.
begun the blame game has lol.
I think both sides are guilty. Fox hired a scapegoat director then handcuffed him. Trank fucked up by acting like a man child throughout the ordeal.
From the article, Fox only handcuffed him when it became apparent what be was producing was absolute shit.
Yeah but Fox only made what he was doing even worse so they’re not exactly saints either.
Either way, shit was a disaster from EVERY goddamn angle.
The saddest part of that article is this quote:
I don’t think Fox can salvage this either way. No actors or actresses or directors will be willing to attach their name to yet another reboot, and fans won’t trust em.
(It doesn’t mean that Fox won’t try to keep the property though, especially since their idiotic desperation to do that is what sparked this abortion in the first place.)
The article that d3v linked to basically confirms what I thought in that both Fox and Trank were both at fault, even if Trank himself is arguably more at fault for apparently being himself since it sounds like his bullshit started before Fox “neutralized him by a committee”, whatever that even means. Still, given horribly Trank seems to have self-destructed, I have to wonder if it was because of drugs or mental illness or if he’s just an asshole who couldn’t handle the pressure provided if it’s not some combination thereof.
They’ll be less desperate if it isn’t making them money. At least the first two movies made them money.
It seems to me though that the only reason why Trank was doing what he was doing was because they weren’t letting him make the movie he wanted to make, so because of it he decided to make the movie as bad as possible. That’s not really the right attitude, you should try to make the best with what you’re given, but I can’t say I don’t understand. It’s not like Trank isn’t talented, he did make Chronicle what it is basically, I really just feel like the conflicting ideals led to the fallout.
Would love to see Marvel pick this up and re-hire Trank to put in work as a fuck you to Fox. Oh the lulz.
trank is losing cred (if he had any to begin with) by the nanosecond this pile of shit is on movie screens.
would be surprised if he can make another movie in the next few years. chronicle is the only thing that has gotten him noticed and fant4stic might be what seals his fate into obscurity. typical one hit wonder, imo.
Dude is barely 30, wrote a couple of episodes for a tv show, had one movie under his belt and was given one of the most important Marvel properties to make into a movie. I reckon his actions will have a significant negative impact on his career no matter how much of this mess is Fox’s fault. M. Night Shyamalan at least made a few well regarded movies before going full retard on sets.
that’s how i see it as well. he may have cracked under the pressure of trying to create great content but in the end, he was really lacking in talent/inexperienced.
also, marvel studios wasn’t involved in making the movie. lololol.
I keep hearing different accounts on how this movie went. Some folks are obvious bandwagoners who I ignore as soon as they say they haven’t seen the movie. Then there are a few friends that cared about FF that said it wasn’t without potential. Then there are the folks that just like movies that said basically the same as the last group. I’m gonna see it to get my own opinion, but are they right? Is this movie just kinda bad or decent at best?
drwill, I hope you like needlessly dark stories that go nowhere whatsoever. Cuz that’s what this is
