Wow what a boring nothing of a movie. There was no real good parts everything at best was just meh and was completely anti-climatic. Casting was bad, script was bad, acting was meh the only good performance was by the dad. There was no real family connection at all. Doom was terrible. No redeeming qualities at all. 3/10

I don’t think Fox is planning to give up on Fantastic Four yet. What if next time they try to actually set the franchise in X-Men universe? Whatever, I’m pretty sure this new version is 100% dead by this moment. The cast was strongly linked to Trank and it looks like they hated the experience just as much as him. I don’t think Fox has even considered asking them to reprise their roles.
I think they will try to link F4 to the XCU. That will be the best shot they can get, like ever. Even if that version bombs too, at least that will keep them circulating within the X-Men movies, even if their roles are cameos and that, until the moment is right, also all the rich Fantastic Four mythology (alien races, entities like Galactus, sci fi high concepts like parallel dimensions) would end up linked to the X-Men mythology for all decades to come.
I have said it once and again, the key for Fox to be able to make Dark Phoenix saga, and the Shi’ar and Starjammers stuff is the Fantastic Four license. Those could be great crossover movies. They better get their shit together and start adding alien references to X-Men: Apocalypse.
The next F4 reboot could follow up the discovery of Apocalypse ship and deal with the creation of SWORD, we could have guest characters like Nicolas Hoult’s beast, a space travel, the opening of a dimensional portal where they discover Annihilus and they must stop the invasion, etcetera. I’m just throwing ideas, but yeah, If I was Marvel, I would be taking the chance of getting the F4 rights, like RIGHT NOW.
They aren’t going to link F4 to the XCU because they don’t want to put the XCU at risk by trying to prop up a failing franchise or them.
(…Except that there was a post two pages ago where Fox explicitly said that Fantastic Four wasn’t going to be tied into X-Men (now). Also, you act like Marvel already wasn’t trying to get the rights back.)
Anyway, the strangest thing about that old school Fantastic Four is that I think the same thing happened in comic books with Reed Richards also “defeating” Magneto with a wooden gun there too.

I’m sure they are gonna give the rights back. This talk of connecting the universes and background characters and whatnot is their attempt to sound like they are in a position to bargain a better deal with Marvel. Trying to save face and whatnot
Fox has to do it. They have no reason not to. Simply put they’d make more money doing it the Sony way. Then again, maybe Marvel won’t be so benevolent as they were with Sony. At least Sony and Marvel had been on good terms already.
