And you wonder why people harp on you spending more time bitching about bad things than actually investing into good things? Go watch the damn Red Band trailer already.
(waits patiently for Marvel to announce that it has the rights to Fantastic Four or at least Doctor Doom back)
Speaking of Darkstalker, people, please remember that using the WTF “tag” too much will eventually bury that post (for some reason that Mr. Wizard or someone else really needs to fix). Let’s not do that to Darkstalker, especially given all the time he wasted and pain/boredom he endured for us.
Don’t be ingrates, guys.
I literally had to cover my mouth to prevent a reflexive spit-take from hitting my screen upon getting to the underlined part.
What. I…what.
That’s even more “what the fuck”-worthy than the apparently M. Night Shyamalan-“inspired”, poor-man’s Molecular Shield.
I knew this movie was shit ever since I saw the Human Torch was black and his sister was a white Invisible Woman. Even if they were adopted, why can’t Hollywood just stick to the comics when making these movies? Always trying to change shit for no reason… I guess I can save my money then.
The movie was shit just as i expected… i know i am the fool who still paid money with these expectations hoping to be proven wrong, but no. It was shit. I can’t believe i watched this shit. It was really shit. I mean seriously bad shit.
I recommend for people to just wait for it to be leaked online or something, i wouldn’t even by the dvd of this shit. I’m worried as hell for Deadpool. If they fuck Deadpool up then i will never watch any single fox-marvel movie again.
The race thing isn’t even that big a deal. I had more of an issue with the adoption thing.
The Flash has a black West family (though to be fair, the comics have followed suit recently for whatever reason) and it affects a grand total of zero other than getting good people for said roles (well Iris is kind of a bitch but I blame that more on CW writing, but when she’s allowed to act like a sensible human she’s fine).
Please, josh trank couldnt pull that off. Hey, i liked chronicle, but yeah, between him and max landis, oh god, what opinionated buffoons. Josh trank cant pull off a fun 80s or 90s f4 to setup some other dope ish. Hes all about the grit, and being as indie as possible.
Fuck you nolan fans, because i blame him for this shit. While i liked man of steel, nolans general influence on everything from tv shows to movies is barf worthy, and the thing is, the light hearted tv shows and movies do better. Well man of steel did great in the box office, but that was zack balancing out nolans faggotry with his own art direction.
I wont see this movie until it leaks. I’m disgusted by this piece of shit, and i havent seen it yet.
How a gritty f4 movie even makes sense, especially with two comedic actors is funny to me. They will barely make their budget back, and not because its F4, but because it sucks.
I should watch the first f4 right now to spite this movie. At least i can get some laughs, its brighter, i dont have to wait 75 percent in to get super powers, and i get to hear lloyd banks, on fire record again. lol
Don’t blame Nolan. At least he knew how to make the grimdark work. He also understood that humor and some mild levity does need to cut through the shit at times. That’s what these posers don’t understand. They see “ooh, so dark and gritty. That’s true cinema, we should follow his example” and then they miss the subtle shit that made what he did work.
Nolan also picked a comic book franchise where grimdark can work easily.
On a related note, he also had a character who’s origin story was one that is a lot more interesting to delve into, since Batman doesn’t have the traditional “get powers, become superhero” type deal.
Sadly, it seems that with F4, they decided to try to expand on the “get powers, become superhero” thing too much. The problem is that everybody already knows how the F4 got their powers. Even changing things from “space” to “altternate dimension” doesn’t really change much from what people already know.
Thank goodness Marvel aren’t doing the same thing for their own Spider-Man reboot.
(Yeah, it’s certainly not Nolan’s fault that almost every superhero movie spends way too much time on origin and pre-superpower stuff when it doesn’t really need to. Obviously exploring that isn’t always bad, but it just mostly gets in the way, especially when one [appropriately] assumes the worst about audiences.)
Similarly, as much as I think Nolan is ultimately overrated–and I say this as someone who really likes The Dark Knight–and doesn’t deny that he “started” the “grimdark” trend, he’s certainly not to blame for people being so lazy that they try to ape him even through “grimdark” and “darkly realistic” hardly works for most super-heroes as it is. If anything, then it’s basically just another sign of how lazy and talentless the writing for most of these failed (or poorly received) “grimdark” Nolan-esque movies are.
So, no, you don’t get to blame Nolan for anything that he isn’t actively directing or consulting on.
…Which Darkstalker doesn’t qualify as.
I’m well aware what it’s used for. I just wished it was labelled better or definitely because I’m pretty certain most people are still using it for functions other than what’s actually intended for, just like how too many people use the Flag tag for posts that aren’t bots but merely annoying to them.
