I have never had one and I’ve been playing for years 0_0
Blisters are not good! Maybe its just because I apply such a light touch my thumb never hurts

Your’re doing it wrong noob!!!
see what i did there
and my pad of choice will always be anything made by nintendo.
If I’m awful when playing with the analog stick, I should forget about the Neo Geo Pad right?
just cant get the same type of precision with an analog stick as i get with a dpad. hold forward on an analog stick and suddenly start jumping forward because its slightly tilted upwards. slap myself in the forehead everytime something like thats happened. knock down, walk forward for overhead but instead get fw jump MP and get wake up shoryu’d!
thats actually how i feel about the 360 controller too. i didnt mean to offend when i said i hate that controller before but i didnt have the words at the time to describe my dislike. more power to you if you can make it work but years of playing snes sf2 and psx alpha, a solid cross is more of my thing. im ok with the saturn though… even though its sort of the same type of circular dpad as the 360.
get the neo geo for that strangeness and exclusivity. its an interesting and fun controller. or get the pdp, that ones kinda cool too
You’re an idiot.
DS1/2/3 for me; I put a lot of hours into fighting games on the OG PlayStation. I’ve tried going back to six button pads but since I actually hold the controller in both hands, there’s a lot of area to cover with my thumb, making it impossible to play with any level of proficiency.
Maybe it’s because I didn’t frequent arcades much (growing up in a small town, we had one and I went maybe once a week), I learned to play my fighters on the SNES pad. To this day I still prefer a gamepad over the arcade stick. That being said, I’ve really been digging the MadCatz fightpads. I have a Chun-Li pad (which I bought on launch day with SFIV, which happened to be my birthday. Great gifts there) and a Cammy pad I picked up when Super came out. When I got SFxT on day one I bought a Chun/Cammy/Julia/Bob pad and really dig it.
I know a lot of dudes are talking good stuff about the Hori Fighting Commander, but it looks very unappealing to me. The same with the PDP line of controllers because of their analog stick.
I’ve played on the PDP, Madcatz fightpad (original), 360 pad, ps1 controller, dualshock 1-3, snes pad, 360 upgraded dpad pad, saturn pad, genesis pad, and a logitech rumble pad.Out of all those, the dualshocks and the saturn pad are tied for top. Call me crazy, but I like something about the dualshock D-pad better than the saturn one. Doing chun-li dash-ultra1 seems easier because the d-pad is divided up. In general, I like that feel better than the disk-type pads.
I think the fighting commander or something like it would be my ideal pad, but I’ve never tried one. Maybe one of those franken-fightpads would be good too (but they look so unwieldy) Maybe if those SD fightpads go on sale again in the next month I’ll pick one up to try out.
Get the Fighting Commander 3 Pro, you won’t regret it, it has some flaws, but it’s still the best fightpad made specifically for the PS3.
Im a stick player but my lil brother is a pad player… he used to use the sf4 fightpad but the diagonals sucked so we modded it and it was okay or a few months but now the diagonals suck. He’s tryna play VF but he has no pad to use.
We’re looking for a good 360 pad that HAS DECENT PRECISION!!
Im thinking of gettin him the sfxt fightpad…does that fightpad come with the same problem? If so what are your reccomendations?
Try maybe a Hori EX2 Turbo pad.
Or if you really love your bro, build him a stick (using the Fightpad’s PCB)
do they usually sell those in gamestop or is it an “order online only” product?
My DS1 broke down, the rubber contact thingy tore up, best pad I’ve ever used for fighters, now I have to use a DS3 which doesn’t have a nearly as good dpad However I discovered DS3’s use the same type of contact rubber thingies as DS1, so I can repair the DS1 if I’d sacrifice my DS3, just going to have to buy a new one I guess. Or I’ll get a Hori Fighting Commander 3, which I’ve also been considering, that thing any good for real?
Also may I ask…is it wiser if I jus purchase a ps2 to 360 converter and buy a ps2 pad? And if so what are the good ps2 pads that are not Dualshock
I don’t really prefer them, and would want a stick.
But the best controller period, in my opinion, is the PS2 stock one.
It’s thick, has nice weight, durable, the buttons push easily yet firmly, it wraps all your fingers in the exact places they need to be.
Oh yeah, fuck Sony for messing with a good thing with those pullshit paper controllers for the PS3. All over some gimmicky Six-Axis feature that no one wanted or uses.
It was also partially because there was a patent dispute over the DualShock technology.
Didn’t know there was one, can you explain?
MARKMAN Why are madcatz fightpads(sf4, Brawl, sfxt, etc.) soooo inconsistent when it comes to its D Pad quality. For some the diagonals are great, for some the D pad is busted out the box. What gives?
what do you mean by diagonals suck? never used one of them before so… yea
i think dualshock rumble technology was patented and sony never paid for the patent while other game companies did and sony got their butt sued. something like that.
the hori fc3 is actually pretty good. i haven’t used a pad for fighters in six years and bought one for my friend who uses mostly pad for fighters. we were testing it out and it’s amazing. great dpad and you can angle it so that it’s in a more natural position. reminds of those keyboards that are supposed to help with carpal tunnel. you can raise or lower the dpad as well and all six buttons are on the face and are big so you can play your right hand sort of arcade style and your left hand like a regular pad.
