And akuma was doing a DP when Gief grabbed him, he was going airborne, and U2 has a ton of active frames.

Nope, it is at least a square imo. I was grabbing people with Cammy’s TKCS motion just to make sure I wasn’t stepping forward and the range is notable.

Sigh, the Zangief mashes lariat. I don’t know what you expect to learn from posting these videos.
0:40 - you have been focusing fireballs. if you are going to jump in you should probably wait until your life bar has recovered, as if he anti-airs you, you are going to eat more damage
0:55 - you punished a blocked SPD with sweep then whiffed green hand. Sweep is an untechable knockdown, so you had time to start some ambiguous mixups after the sweep. You already have two bars and you’re nowhere near getting the third so I dont see a reason to whiff GH. Depending on the situation, I would punish the missed shoryuken with either firece SPD or headbutt if I thought I could get stun. A lot of players will jump back after eating a headbutt, so you can quite often catch them with a standing hard kick after the headbutt, sometimes even two.
generally when both players are on the ground, ryu will do one of 3 things:
throw fireballs in your face
hit confirm cr.mk into fireball
standing hard kick
when you are within the range where you can punish fireball with reaction EX GH, you should be looking to land option select standing lk > EX GH. Time this right and it will stuff his cr.mk. cr.lp option select ex GH for the standing hard kick.
1.10 - you need to familiarise yourself with the timing of jumps for meaties or safe jumps. Ryu jumped quite early here so you should be expecting a shoryuken or a throw - he has no bars so a throw is more likely. He put himself in the corner against gief with no bars which is pretty stupid… what’s worse is he didn’t throw when he landed, he is just spamming cr.lp. You should be pressing throw here.
The second lariat you do here is basically a panic lariat after he does ex tatsu. Your lariat is way too early and you should be crouching to do a deep lariat, getting a trade into ex gh worst case scenario.
Round 2 - stop spamming lariat. He could punish your lariats with fireballs, sweeps or big jump in fierce punch/kick combos if he knew to.
Maybe you could offer some constructive criticism…?

at 0:55 it looks like in the inputs he was going for suplex but possibly mistimed K and got sweep. Too far out for suplex anyways. Great breakdown though. Hopefully I can get some vidyas from my next session and get some much needed input.
If you want to act like a bad ass go ahead, but I was simply pointing out that it’s probably a waste of time trying to help someone who mashes lariat.
That would mean that help would be denied to the people that need it most. That’s if video game tips could ever really be considered a “need”.
It’s not a waste of time if it helps him to not spam lariat.
honestly, that ryu was terrible. just watched the vid and not a single cr.mk-fireball attempt and only did one cr.mk attempt at all at 0:55. that’s pathetic and tells me he really doesn’t know the matchup or just sux-sorry for being so blunt. also like worstgief said, just way too many lariats which will get u killed fast against a decent opponent. pretty sloppy play from both.
also u hit him with 4 ex.gh’s in the match. two were off of lariat trades but the other two just seemed random/lucky. those would’ve probably been blocked and punished hard against a good player. at around 0:37, 0:54, 1:19 pretty sure u were going for jab spd’s but fucked up the execution so just get those 720’s down pat. thx for posting bro.

I can’t really comment on the spamming and random shit, because that just comes with being a bad player and you will have to kick that with experience and taking the game seriously, but I’ll offer advice on the tangible things about your play that can be fixed easily.

You need to punish with spd. During the video, you punish whiffed srks/air tatsus with sweep and lariat.

You need to improve your footsies. Less random fucking jumping, lariats, and ex gh and more st. mp, os gh pokes. Also, you don’t have to lariat every fucking reset, you can simply just sit and block or w.e, be creative.
Most important thing is the lariat mashing ofc. It’s painful to watch your inputs when you are mashing ppp like it’s Megan Fox’s vag. Practice being patient and inputting things once. Don’t do random shit-- you should have a reason for every action you take. If you played a half-decent Ryu you would have been punished harshly for your whiffed lariats and etc.
