nice vids bro. i like watching cantona too but those were some tough matches. i fucking hate blanka and those vids show just why i do lol. it looked like cantona was trying to kara ex-gh a lot but getting rh or rbg instead. at least that’s what it looked like to me.
Yeah, he was trying to kara gh with RH. Somebody should show him Renegade’s video. Then he’d know that he can just use lp~lp+mp. I used to get random RBG sometimes due to input shortcuts when trying it. But since I’ve switched to the lp version, it’s been much better. Even if I screw up, I usually just get st.lp or at worst, an ex SPD.

We had a release tourney for Super. Here’s my match in top 8 with Dagger G’s Guile:

I guess it’s obvious after watching, but I had a rough time. The matchup didn’t feel radically different until I’d look up at the stamina bar mid-round and see how much I was down by. That and the rapid sonic booms in my face.
The floatier jump will take some getting used to. One interesting thing that I noticed is that when you do the knee drop, you get to the ground quite a bit faster than the floatiness of the earlier part of the jump arc would make it seem. Mixed with short jumps it can throw off anti-air attempts or help you get to the ground faster than an airborne opponent. I was messing around with it that night and you can see it a few times in the video.
Any tips or match-up advice and experience would be welcome. Thanks.
Here’s some random online matches. I’m just testing out my capture card. Sorry for the no sound. I have to figure out why that is. I might have to change over the sound settings on my PS3 because I have to switch output to composite when recording. The TV doesn’t like to output video that comes in HDMI.
I have no idea on how to fight Cody or Makoto. I’m pretty sure they were just starting to learn the characters as well.

You can see in these videos I’m having a tough time adjusting to the cr.lk changes. A lot of dropped cr.lk combos. Plus, it’s pretty damn hard to connect 4 cr.lks now. I keep forgetting that. You can see me whiffing the last cr.lk in the bison match. I’d used to connect 4 cr.lks no problems on bison in regular SF4. Also, at the end of that Bison match. I’m pretty sure his attack would have missed in regular SF4. That seemed to happen on several occasions where I’d think that his air attack would whiff but he connects. Gief’s hitbox has definitely changed.
Any feedback is welcomed.
im guessing the last part was his HS right? the hitbox on HS is actually different since it actually happened with other characters like cody and guy but then sometimes it would randomly whiff as well its strange now

I lost this one to Wolfcrone one of the best Vipers in the country from what i heard he gave Diago a run for his money. I got excited that you almost beat wolf krone when I was watching you live so congrats, but you were relying on a lot of gimmeks when Gief has great combos that lead to ticks/knockdowns and you never landed one.

Ticks won’t work on wolfcrone good luck beating him with footsies and yes I was pulling every shinnanigan I could think of out in that one. I’ve beaten wolfs team at frostys so I’ve taken him out just using a random bullshit rush down style so that’s what I went with. Yeah it’s not how the Japanese play gief but I get alot of wins and yes I can play a slow defensive smart game but some time you got to let gief be gief. Come on 2 rbg In a row vs one of the top vipers in the us. I know there is more wake up games I can play with option selects and what not so I will try and learn those.
Just do a meaty cr jab OS sweep on Vipers wake up. He cant EX Burn Kick (whiffs then lariat), back dash (swept), Thunder Knuckles (block -> RBG), jump (cr jab -> combo)
If he just blocks then tick throw. If he is holding up and back (to avoid ticks as you say) then that lk is gonna hit and you just combo him. If he is mashing back dash in the block string then recognize that and stop attacking and wait for the beginning of the back dash animation and EX GH ftw. You can’t get gun shy because you are playing a top player. All of Gief’s tools still work, but you have to use them.
If you know what you are doing he will get ticked (literally).
