Kind of dissapointed how the scientist who escaped the neurotoxin isn’t in the game, besides more of his graffiti and bloody messages. Thought maybe since he was in the comic, he’d be in the game too.

But mainly on topic, I will say that I was very entertained watching someone beat the game.
Didn’t play it myself, walked in on a friend who just started playing against the last boss. Looks like an interesting game (never bothered with part 1).
One of the best games Valve has ever made.
Co-Op is the best part.
Decided to go through Portal 1. I’d ignored it and played though Half Life when I first got The Orange Box. I was like “This stupid, and make Ugg feel stupid. Ugg save world.” I mean seriously, I got the portal gun, but was too dumb to know that the orange portal is the destination portal, so I was basically stuck on the second portal gun puzzle (orange portal beside exit door, but seemingly no way to get to it) for…almost 3 years. Now I’m on chamber 18, and this shit’s fun (easy as hell, too. i only died twice). Uh, how long is Portal 1?

Oh, holy crap, did things ever change! Man, what a tweest! That song at the end was cute…and a little passive-aggressive…and a little disturbing, once you realize that the computer’s futue plans* are not referring to YOU, but others who are doing what you were doing at the beginning (those poor bastards). So, part 2…is that whackjob computer still around? She said she’d still be alive, even after you’re dead. Does this game take place during HL2?

Portal 2 takes place an unspecified number of years after Portal 1 but it seems to have been a very very long time judging from the state of the Enrichment Center at the beginning of the game, and yes, GLaDOS is back. So is Chell for that mater. Thats all I’m gonna say tho, it’s way better if you don’t know much about the story and events that transpire. Portal 2 was just sweet.
And Rhio as far as Portal’s relationship to HL2 it’s… well we don’t know. We know even less because of Portal 2. With only a glimpse of the outside world in Portal and Portal 2 who knows when Portal takes place.
Interesting comment from GLaDOS: “All I know is I’m the only thing standing between us and them…well, I was.” …“them” being the Combine? And with “was”, is she referring to her imminent shutdown, or is she aware that she is no longer the only defense against the Combine? I’m pretty sure her current role is an artificially intelligent wartime tool for developing weapons (with the many tests the human test subjects go through as a beta field test). I wonder how many people she killed to perfect the Gravity Gun.
Another cool thing I heard that relates to the Portal storyline, though not a HL2 related thing:

Ratman, the guy who set you free to test in the first place, and who later on saved your life after you killed glados by putting you back into incubation. The schizo who talks with companion cubes in his head. He’s the one with all the weird rooms you find in both games hidden.
Sure seems like he’s managed to make his way to the moon and be free. Remember when you get the first portal gun in Portal 2? theres lots of strange drawings of you and other things. Looks up. See the phases of the moon? He was tracking the moon in the sky. See the open sky?
Why is there a portal gun here anyways? And why is there an orange portal just sitting on a wall?
Ratman. He made it to the moon. The orange portal was left there, and the blue one on the moon, then he took his companion cube and went through. He’s presumably living on a secret Aperture Science moon base. Remember the chatter from Cave Johnson about the missing astronauts? They’re obviously involved in space travel, so it’s not unfeasable. Also all the surfaces that you can put a portal on are made from Moon Rocks, just like the white gel, so they must have had a way to get a bunch of those rocks.
Further proof is from the Final Transmission achievement; if you take the audio that plays and run it through an sstv decoder, you get this:

Is the Gravity Gun an Aperture Science product? Aperture is kind of abandoned by Portal 1 isn’t it?
Well in Portal 2, your portal gun acts like a gravity gun when you carry stuff around, whereas in portal 1 it didn’t. So I’d say theres good evidence to suggest the Gravity Gun is an Aperture product, or at the very least they were trying to copy a Black Mesa Product (we already know they were trying to directly compete with them)
well at one point in the game doesn’t cave accuse black mesa of stealing aperture inventions? it’s something along the lines of “copyright infringers can kiss my broke ass!”

A better game than the first, only flawed because the “surprise” isn’t one anymore.
