He’s a meter user usually. Anything can dhc into proton cannon and the last hit of proton cannon causes fly state meaning all hits up to that last one are dhcable. He pins people down with repulsor blast hardcore considering it hits with considerable durability.
Hey guys I have a few questions about the actual style of play that Iron Man benefits from…
For a rushdown team like wolverine, mags; is the unibeam or the repulsor blast a better option to approach with?
I have a question about the movement that regular iron man players do, do I actually dash on ground to approach ever? What percent of the time am I triangle jumping? How often are aggressive dash ins done?
In the guide, Buktooth describes Iron Man as a keepaway character with the option to be aggressive. How exactly is this done? What kind of approach mixups are needed?
Are tre any videos to showcase a general idea of his movement/approach?
Iron man isn’t fast enough to rush people down mercilessly like mag, wolverine or storm so you have to set things up to get in. If you’re playing an IM team, you usually need a team to cover teh bottom and upper half of the screen. So for example, if you have mag and sentinel, you just covered your low with EMD and your high with drones. If you’re keeping people out, you use unibeam on teh ground and drone assist to prevent jumping and when you do air unibeam, you have emd on teh ground to keep them out and to prevent wave dashes.
If you’re looking to get in, you have a few routes. For one, throw a unibeam to cover sentinel, he drones for you, and then you have an avenue to wave dash into c.m. If you’re going high, you can triangle in off of an emd assist you covered with unibeam or repulsor blast. Also, do not forget about air h smart bombs. You can cover sentinel, have him drone, you super jump in and do low to the ground h smart bomb which you can air dash behind for a mixup. Usually you jump in with d+h or m because m is hard to block and h is completely invulnerable past iron man’s hands. Once you’re in, you can do things like square jump over the person, call magneto or sentinel then go high or low. For low, you go c.l, c.m and for high you go flight, s or u, df+ab, m (triangle jump).
If you’re mix-up gets blocked, combo into repulsor blast with a qcf+h follow-up to get them out of your face or dash back.
If you want to be a lazy assist spamming whore, choose doom hidden missile assist, cover doom with a unibeam or repulsor blast, and proceed to get in for free because all retaliation except for a few supers will get knocked out by stupid missiles that come out of fucking no where. Cold star with ammy is also godlike and so is chun-li leg assist which seems to lose to fucking nothing. Other broken assists that work well with IM are dormmamu bullshit (dark hole/purification), doctor doom rock shield and akuma spam me till it works hurricane kick.
Hey so I took ur advice and I can now do the combo against sentinel; however, I can’t do it on normal to small sized characters i.e. dante, viewtiful joe, etc.

Hi Samurai Drew, after a lot of matches with Ironman his tri jump pressure is effective with the right assist. I usually use Sentinel drones but my main strategy is to knock them down and fly while the drones are about to hit. You can pressure them with FLY 5H, 2H, 5S if they are crouching, or if they are standing and block the 5S overhead you can unfly and go 2M 5H fly L,L,M,H,S, Unfly 5H, Proton Cannon. if they are catching up on this mix up just tick throw for bombs and proton cannon. You can do a lot of mix up but I rarely move in with just tri jumps alone I am usually flying a lot to get around their assist, or if they are using an armored assist snapback that assist in and range or rush with fly/unfly mixup. I would love to record this but I do not have a capture card. Hope this helps!

Does Iron Man have anny invisibility frames on any of his assists? And or moves?
I can not do this combo after an hour and a half of straight training mode practice with ryu set as my dummy, i can’t seem to connect the second hit after the unfly I can connect the down H after unfly but when it comes time for the double jump and the neutral H ryu is way to low to the ground for me to hit him any good advice, timing etc?
It’s not hard, after your first :hp: activate flight mode and just hold :d: you can fly down a bit before hitting hope that helps.

im totally a noob in this game,have played mvc and mvc2 but no in a “tecnical” way just smashing buttons XDD gonna try some of these combos cuz i really want to use iron man as one of my mains
any suggestions of basic combos or some easiest one a new player can do to start with?
also im using ps3 controller cuz here in my country i cant get an arcade stick, i feel confortable with the ps3 control but im having trouble with the smart bomb/shoryuken/tornado claw/etc etc comand some times it works but sometimes just dont and trying to use it in a combo is a real pain when it doesnt work any tips to that?

if you want an easier combo than the one i posted midscreen you can unfly then addf, down H land then do the rest of the combo. instead of doing unfly falling down H, dj H, down H
doing it this way does like 675,000 so you dont break 700,000 and i havent tested on every character yet but i think it should work on everybody. also didnt know if people knew but in the corner you can get a full combo off his throw or air throw you can almost get 500,000 damage.

what does j. and dj. means? and land is the launch botton isnt it or launch is S?then waht is land? cuz if it is launch how can we throw them into the air and then hit with crouch M.?

j. is jump, dj. is double jump. Land means you touch ground after being in the air.
If you do a repulsar blast assist right as the last doom missile leaves the screen, then it will completely negate the missiles if you stand under it. If your point character has a projectile you can then capitalize on a spammer expecting you to block. Probably would increase Ironman’s use of an assist if Doom remains relevant.
Ugh, i’ve been working on iron man but it feels hopeless. His specials take so long to come out and I’m having a hard time with spacing and when to use which normal. I’m basically lost every time he moves in, nothing feels natural. All I seem to have a handle on is staying in the air and throwing smart bombs. The timing on his air combos seem to have a lot more variables than other characters (ie harder) and getting a launcher in the first place is more difficult. Anyone using him really effectively? What’s the secret?
Proton Cannon auto-corrects AFTER the first hit. This means we can reversdal cross-ups with PCanon and still pick up proper DHC’s & X-factors.

Well let’s look at it like this, you should be using the H unibeam ONLY if time and space permits, AKA you have an assist helping you.
The more I play with IM the more I realize I want to be in the air, on the ground most of his normals put IM at a frame disadvantage (his slow dash cancel is something of nuisance). In the air you have the option to j.dH/j.h/j.m/smart bombs/unibeam/and even j.L. In the air you can poke to death some characters with his H’s, and if you’re good at hit confirming then you have a combo. He can kinda triangle jump but quickly makes up for it through his long range attacks.
His entire gameplay style leans on creating openings through making them approach you, catch them on a mistake and then you have something show for it.
While I don’t agree that he’s an overall hard character to play as, he is difficult in the sense that you can’t play him as you would play keepaway Dorm or Sent or rushdown like Mags or wolverine. It’s like he’s right in the middle, and I’ve seen Paik say it before, “the swiss army knife” Nothing amazing but nothing terrible.
I’m starting to change my mind on IM, what do you guys think would be a good replacement? I keep using his Unibeam assist to approach with Mags? Doom w/hidden missiles?
I got this down pretty good now but after I relaunch them at the end of the combo they reset so fast in the air that I can only get a j.M, j.M, j.H, .S in the air and then of course Smart Bombs > Proton Cannon. Any tips on this? I figure it will be even harder if I open with c.L, c.M instead of just c.M as well.
Never mind I got it now. Had to be faster than a motherfucker.
