I wanna organize a tournament in pittsburgh. I’ve wanted to for awhile. At Duquesne. But I don’t think anyone would want to pay for a hotel or parking. They have enough space, just cost and interest in the event would be the 2 main factors. So I don’t know where we’d have it. But I think it’d be fun.

N+ is fun for the first hour or so. Then you reach levels that are just stupidly hard. I don’t care how much of a badass, ninja-type character you are, homing missiles are better than you.
Portal: Still Alive just came out on XBLA too. I don’t know about N+ because you can play it for free online, on DS, on PSP (I think) and on XBLA. Just… weird.

bit late to the party here, but i’d like to ask:
- how do get-togethers for pitt fighters usually play out in this thread/the last one? is there a regular gathering on weekends, do people mostly just hit each other up one-on-one or in little groups in each other’s pads as they feel like it, what’s the scoop?!
- what games usually go down? i know people are gonna be bringing whatever they want to the table but a good idea of what games usually get the most hype and what systems they’ll be played on would be grand
- probably stupid to ask, but is anyone here particularly close to washington, e.g. on the W&J campus or near washington city?
- really stupid and i apologize if i sound like an asshole but what sort of crew can i expect to meet playing with pitt?
- are the peanuts salted, honey roasted, plain, maybe even cashews?! world’s gotta know
You’re about an hour south but if there’s a bus that comes up then you can definitely either transfer on the system or get to Oakland and walk. As long as you can get to pitt or downtown and catch the 71A you should be able to reach where we usually play. Sorry its vague but I ain’t givin private info out in the open thread.
We tend to meet at either my place, in Friendship, or Nate’s place in Shadyside, both are relatively close to Oakland by the Pitt campus. Me and Nate play the most since we live closer.
Here is a list of the games we each play:
Myself (Jake), MvC2 (I will beat you at this game) CvS2 (I can do a piss poor job of roll canceling but I mainly do top tier turtling with C groove) Guilty gear (all of us play this game at a very high and competitive level). I can pretend to play third strike, but I can only stomach it for about an hour at a time.
Nate, Guilty Gear (He is our best player at this) Trivial Pursuit (he will rush your shit down, you don’t even know) Super Turbo (he’s got a mean DJ) He also has the best reaction time out of all of us, so no matter what game he plays, except for MvC2, he blocks it all and breaks the throws.
Kyle, Mains Guilty Gear, also play arcana hearts, Melty Blood, and Kof. He is highly skilled at these three and he is prolly better than Nate at Guilty Gear, we just don’t give him credit for it.
TJ, he is very good at both Guilty Gear and Street Fighter, but he plays low tier characters, meaning he would be the best of us, but chooses not to be. TJ used to be a third strike master too, but he gave that game up once we told him that it is the worst game ever made. Oh yeah, he also plays hokuto no Ken (fist of the north star) he is just a bit out of practice.
Stephone, he plays a very talented game of low tier marvel. He is good at rival schools, super smash bros (all of them), mvc1, and other random games that no one else plays anymore.
There are a couple of other people, but getting a hold of them and getting them all in one room at one time is actually impossible, so I am not going to list them.
We play guilty gear, cvs2, and street fighter AE on ps2, MvC2 on DC.
The lot of us are fairly lot back. Nate is a graduated Law student who just recently passed the bar exam. He likes drinking beer and watching sports. TJ is a graduated high school student, he enjoys hockey and beer, he works at a staples is one hella of cool guy. He also lives near the only Sonic in Pittsburgh. Stephone is loud, but very funny.
And the peanuts, they are whatever the hell Diddy Kong throws in Smash Bros, since I haven’t actually seen it, someone else will have to verify the type for you.
Typically games are fit in whenever we get a chance, which is like once a week, but typically not with everyone present.

Also, don’t underestimate Nate in MVC2. He plays a mean Chun.
