Flash Ads Overlap Navigation (Chrome)

The flash ads that appear on the right below the user navigation menu overlap the submenus links in Chrome.

It may just be a chrome problem because the exact same thing happens on youtube (ads will overlap videos viewed higher than 320p).

Ninja Edit: Someone had the bright idea of setting the container for the ad to z-index: 1000000
that’s why it overlaps everything. It just needs to be set to 1 and the navigation will work perfectly.

Same with me (using Firefox).
Also when it’s the civic ad, it automatically expands…even though I don’t mouse over it.
Kind of annoying.

same as IE

This is getting to be beyond annoying!

I have the same problem

yea that Honda ad (no pun intended) is making me wanna slap my laptop, like a hundred times. (ok pun intended)

It’s really pissing me off. It wasn’t happening with the other ads but now that stupid honda civic ad is on every banner on this site now. I think that’s a bad place to put an ad anyway, especially when the site code wasn’t designed to work around the flash ads.

The ad won’t even change. Please fix it. Will I ever see no ads again?

Typical for ads. :frowning:

But yeah, get rid of that z-index forcing it on top of everything.

What? I thought premium members didn’t see ads… even that’s changed?

^_-;

As bright as day my man. Been seeing ads since they took away Darkness a while back

this is ridiculous. earlier the ENTIRE front page was a link to the honda civic ad for me. like, i clicked on text of an article and it opened up the honda civic ad. also, my “alerts” window is totally covered by the honda civic ad. and the bar at the bottom of the site is also annoying. remember when sites just had a couple small ads? browsing the internet is like worse than tv nowadays with all the commercials

Just had the same problem. The alerts drop down thing disappeared behind an ad.

shits annoying. having the same problem.

On IE9:
Issue is that clicking the ‘alerts’ option on the top right results in the drop-down menu going BEHIND the bloody ad.
I can’t see my alerts anymore unless i blindly click.

It’s the stupid Civic advert as all have said above.

its happening with IE too. cant see any of my menu options because of these stupid ads i have no use for

Yep, having the same problem with that Civic ad, can’t see my alerts at all.

this makes me want to never buy a honda civic

I too am having the same problem.

Not griping. Just adding to the stream of mentions that this is a problem for me too. I’m using Firefox 4.

With that being said, I love the rest of the changes.

I recommend adblocking the ads with adblock plus or a similar extension (right click ad, move slider, click ok). Adblock plus is on firefox and chrome. You’ll be ad free.
