Ok guys, some friends and I are hoping to actually try and make this Kakuto Chojin remake ourselves using the Unreal 3 Engine and Blender. Right now we’re delving into game ideas, character redesigns, music, all that good shit. We want this to be the most hardcore, grimdark, badass fighting game ever.
So far we found a really badass song we can use for the intro, let me know if you like it. This song is really hardcore and really reflects the vibe of this game: dark, gritty, underground, grim, hardcore.

Here is art of the original characters, so you can compare to what some of the new redesigns will be. We intend to revamp all these characters and make them into the most kickass, hardcore, grimdark motherfuckers around. These people will make Tekken and Virtua Fighter characters run for their lives.

He’s still gonna have leather pants and his body and face and hair will all be just like the original, but he’ll also have a kickass looking jacket like Shenlong from Bloody Roar, and kickass boots to boot. He’ll also wear red shades now, like K’ in KoF13, and a gold chain. His fighting style will be a mix of Jeet Kune Do, and Shenlong’s over the top kung fu stuff. he’ll even have Bruce Lee’s chest stomp complete with crazy screaming. Motherfucker is gonna be way hardcore.
Ok, Vittoria’s redesign will be very very cool. She’s gonna be reworked completely. She’ll now sport a look very similar to Baronesss from Rise of Cobra, like a dark haired badass chick in leather with guns. Like this:

Yes, She’s gonna have twin pistols in this game, with a special stance she can go into. This stance will cause her to draw her guns and use a gun kata type style in addition to her kicks(think Equilibrium). She’ll have to reload her guns because they will be able to go empty. not to worry, her gun stance won’t be broken, think of it sorta like Devil Jin’s lasers in a way. Also, if attacked hard enough the guns can be knocked from her hands, although she can pick them back up, much like Vega with his claw in SF.

Crusher Ramirez won’t just be a wrestler here. He’s gonna be a full on MMA/UFC badass. Think of Bayman with all the crazy ass limb and back breaking shit, and Marduk with his mounts. This guy is gonna be one big, angry ass motherfucker. Here is what his theme will be:

Brock Lesnar’s badass theme is perfect for a hardcore bastard like Ramirez. Both are huge, angry ass hardcore motherfuckers that cripple their opponents in the ring.
Vegard is gonna get some changes. Still haven’t decided on his new attire, however his mask will be changed to look far more terrifying. Think of Diablo’s face in the new Blizzard art, and you should get an idea. He will also have claws(no, not like Vega from SF), and will fight using TKD as well as have an extra stance in addition to his TKD stances that have him revert to a more beastly attack style(fighting really brutal like a wild animal). He’ll have some very very nasty kicks as well, like curb stomping your face nasty.

Sabre is currently being reenvisioned. He’ll still be a kickass karate guy, but he’ll have some more unique moves(In the original he was literally a Kazuya clone, even had the spinning uppercut as his unblockable). He won’t be like that pussy Akira from Virtua Fighter, this guy is gonna be one mean, nasty son of a bitch. Here is his theme, hardcore and badass, for a hardcore badass:

This remake will have some very interesting features. Ever play Tao Feng? This game will have large, fully destructible interactive arenas. You can swing off poles and shit. And like Doa and Tekken 4, they won’t just be flat floors. There will also be multitiered arenas. Imagine fighting on a rooftop as it’s pouring raining during a heavy thunderstorm, and you knock your opponent off the roof, they fall down below to another lower level rooftop, and you continue the fight. Or knock them off a balcony in another stage, and now you’re fighting in the street below. Even fighting in an Aquarium and knocking people into tanks and shit. Also, some stages will have deathtraps…
Oh and guess what? This game will have a very very special fatality system…
The fatality system is gonna be something never done before. This is how it will work. When your opponent is low on life, you will be able to connect with a special unblockable attack that each character will have, this attack becomes available only when the opponent is at very low health. If the attack misses you lose your opportunity to do it again. If it connects however, the following occurs:
A special meter will appear as you enter “Death Mode”. This is the death meter. You now have 2 options. You can either input special motions to do your character’s fatalities, and of course the death bar will be full immediately and your character does their finisher. However in Death Mode you can choose to brutalize your opponent instead, and you will now be able to viciously beat them with as many insane combos as you want, as the majority of your attacks will be able to be linked together much much easier, allowing for you to basically beat the living shit out of your opponent hardcore style for a time. As you beat on them, the death meter slowly fills up, and once it is full, the final attack you perform will kill your opponent and they will collapse on the floor; a broken and beaten mess.
Characters will have very gory and brutal fatalities, no silly shit like later MK games. Want an example? Here’s 2 of Vittoria’s finishers.

She kicks your legs out from under you and forces you on your knees. She then pulls out one of her pistols and shoots you in the head, splattering your brains on the floor as you fall over.

She whips her guns out from a bit of a distance away, and proceeds to OK Corral shoot your ass full of lead, leaving you riddled with bullet holes as blood sprays everywhere. After you hit the floor, she walks over to your body, steps on you, spits in your face, then shoots you point blank in the face, ending you.
Hardcore, don’t ya think?
Now currently we are very much concerned with the playstyle of the game, we have a lot of features in mind that we want to add, but are unsure just what gameplay style we want to go for. There’s Tekken style, which is a button for each limb. There’s also DOA style, which is the 2 button attack style with the throw and counter buttons. As far as gameplay, we prefer a more DOA style, that is, the juggling will be fun and look cool, but not as bullshitty and over the top as Tekken has become(Tekken 6 BR looks fucking ridiculous). We want our game to have more realistic physics than the nonsense in Tekken. We intend to use a ragdoll type engine much like what was used in GTA 4. The original Kakuto Chojin promised such a system where every attack will cause opponents to react differently as opposed to canned animations, making for very dynamic and exciting fights. They failed to deliver, so we shall do what they did not.
