I think maybe my problem is with Captain America/Steve Rogers. He just seems so bland, or at least, that’s how he was made to be in the movie. Batman Begins had Bruce Wayne and his fucked up brain, Iron Man had witty, cocky, sarcastic, addicted to vices, genius Tony Stark, etc. It just fell a bit flat with me; they should’ve spent a bit more time with the Howling Commandos and Captain America building that camaraderie instead of the montage we got, I think that would’ve been a great opportunity to flesh out Captain America a bit more and delve further into his desire to serve and lead.
I’d rather they’d made it feel sad and gritty. I liked the film, but I was hoping for the other.
I did like the amount of time they spent with Steve pre-formula, and I suppose *that *was supposed to be the time that I got emotionally involved with the character, but his motivation was so bland and one-dimensional that I didn’t really care once he got juiced.
Cap has always been that reserved boy scout so i can understand him coming across as bland. It could’ve been worse and we could have gotten the douchy Ultimate Captain America.
I agree with this. I enjoyed the film but it was totally there to tie shit together. It had an agenda other than “stand on its own,” which is problematic.
yeah but Captain America was always the piece of the Avengers. So it having to tie into The Avengers isn’t really problematic. I mean this movie wasn’t like Thor and to a bigger extent Iron Man 2, where they were really pushing the Avengers thing.
Yeah, seeing an actress that isn’t 90 lbs. was nice for a change. And DAYUM she filled out that red dress nicely in the bar scene.
Movies have to stand on their own. Captain America almost kinda-sorta did; it could have improved that area without losing either its silly charm or its other movie canon tie ins. Though I will admit it isn’t “problematic” as I originally claimed. Movie did well and really was enjoyable.
Dat Red Dress that SRK keeps talking about.

Movie was alright. Nothing spectacular, but nothing terrible.
Y’ know, I thought it was nice for a change to have a hero that just felt compelled to be a hero and do the right thing (I don’t think that’s bland), and not another gritty / dark fucked up in the brain dude that certain circunstances puched him to be a hero / vigilante, I liked this movie to say the least.
red skull’s death was so random :wtf:
I dont follow any of the comics. no idea what I am comparing it to. whatever alright movie no complain. unnecessary 3D as expected.
3D is always necessary! Either way, like most Comic movies I felt disappointed.
Man not even that screencap of Atwell in that red dress can really do her justice! Seeing her in movement really was a feast for the eyes!
fluffy boobies
If you saw Thor, I don’t think for a second that Red Skull is dead. Would be nice if they did like the comics and have him sharing a body with someone else like he was with Lukin.
