And lastly, here’s a new one I did of a new personal character I’ve done called Shade. I hope the link works because I’m trying to use the devart url.
It’s been forever since I updated this and I usually like having something to show for myself when I do come back so sorry for the late replies everyone!
Good question. I needed to look up the word Imp and she’s actually very close to that definition. Honestly, the creatures and characters I make are of my own design and they often share similarities with folklore and what have you. She has blue skin, a forked tail, pointy ears and has a quick healing factor. Beyond healing, she can manipulate how her body either repairs or grows and can become more dangerous when injured, although she is missing an eye. Any sort of physical repair is hard enough but when healing organs, it takes even more effort and concentration. You got to know what your healing, otherwise it’ll just heal over as skin and bone and that can be more troublesome than the actual wound by itself.
Hahaha, it would be even more long winded of me to explain in detail everything but in short, different world, different populous, no humans (myths as far as they’re concerned) and more steam-punk middle ages with a monarchy setting I’m thinking. The steam-punk may change later but I might keep it as well, ya never know. I’m just throwing all my interests into one big pot and cooking up a coherent story around it.
Setting actually sounds pretty interesting as is Shade’s method of healing. Curious and looking forward to hearing (and seeing) more developments about this.
great stuff!
i did notice that you’re often cutting your characters around the waist or ankles. just be cautious about that. i love the last image. the background really makes it stand out among your other pieces. i also love the line weight you’re using on the abel drawing. keep it up!
I’m glad you find it at least a little interesting. I’ve devoted a great deal of time and effort in refining my story and characters to the point where I am almost ready to make the comic happen. Now days I’m just scripting some stuff out and getting used to the comic format.
haha, I swear, it’s not on purpous. Sometimes I just set myself a defined space to draw and to get the details I want, I make the drawing bigger than the page can handle. What if I do a bunch of feet and leg drawings, that would make up for it, right? One of these days I’ll get some nice big 11 x 17 paper to draw on and I won’t have any excuses then, haha.
The last image was something I really wanted to get right. Backgrounds are still an issue but I’m not going to improve if I don’t do anything about it, right? So I put it in my mind that I’ve got to make a compelling and well done background with as much effort put into it as I do my character drawings. Next step is going to be coloring it.
