Fire Emblem thread: Now with more permadeath!

There’s already a European release date for it so it would be incredibly silly for it to not be released in the US.

Oh damn, I may consider getting myself a 3DS just for this game. Sure I didn’t enjoy 8’s story as much as I did 6 and 7’s, but damn it, I loved the branching classes. :lovin:

They had better…>:(

I’m still sore that Nintendo has no plans to release New Mystery outside of Japan.

Honestly, as far as I can tell nothing of value was lost. It and Shadow Dragon were both just cheap cash ins and the originals were pretty mediocre compared to the rest of the series. A lot of what makes Fire Emblem good wasn’t implemented until Genealogy.

And once again, Nintendo finds a way to scum me out of my hard earned money. Gonna have to buy a 3DS just for this game, goddamit

I didn’t think Shadow Dragon was bad at all…then again it was my first entry into the series. New Mystery pretty much remedied the main problems fans had with Shadow Dragon (lack of character development, most of your units being crappy due to having poor personal growths and pre-promoted units not having their stats adjusted to compensate for higher stat caps, difficulty being a joke once you get the Warp staff, having to either suck really bad at the game or deliberately kill off your characters for side-chapters).

So Fire Emblem Awakening is coming after all… :smokin:

Still going to buy this game. Not quite as hyped for it do to some… questionable design decisions (what the fuck did they do to you Micaiah) but despite my complaints with the visuals it still looks like it is going to be real good.

 Matthew has been my favourite character for as long as I remember, but I keep hearing that Legault is the better thief/assassin.

What is this list for though? Link Arena or Story Mode? Because in Story Mode, my Lyndis was beasting with that high Strength, Skill, Speed, Luck, and Resistance, not to mention some supports for that increased Avoid and Critical.

That tier list is centered around the best possible way of achieving a “S” rank in HHM, so yeah I guess it is factored along with the story mode (and not just Hector’s story, but Lyn’s as well because you can early level some characters). Simply put, Lyn can’t take many blows in HHM (possible 2-3 hit KO by lances or unlucky RNG). In a “S” rank play, she cannot be utilized very well because the game ends when she is defeated (which stresses the player to protect her even further than I would say Guy, who pretty much has the same caps but better statistical manipulations with killer weapons and HHM bonuses). Her quickest supporting option, Florina, is a mounted unit which means the player will have problems keeping them together (especially in maps where you HAVE to send a flyer out to cover ground). Supports in general do not utilize the tactician rating very well and prevents the player from achieving the S rank due to the number of turns it takes to support with many character dialogues.

Matthew is better thief because he is the only character that can steal the Silver Card from Aion, and since the Silver Card cuts prices of items in half he solely solves the funds rating for the S rank play. I have made both into assassins and I can honestly say Legault is the better one, but that shouldn’t effect anything too dramatic seeing how Assassins are limited to swords and are very depended on the OHKO in order to be effective in some situations.

Been pretty much playing Sacred Stones on my 3DS for most of the day. I was fully expecting Ross to be shitty especially since I had to keep bailing him out of trouble even when he was around other people and he ended up getting my archer killed but he made some kind of quick turnaround after he got to level 8 and I turned him into a Pirate afterwards. Now he’s just serving people KO’s without even blinking. This man could feels like he could be close to Hector status if I keep working with him.

Does anyone know if I should bother trying to work with Amelia (Female recruit with a slim lance who you talk to with Ephraim and turn her over to your side)? I sent her to go kill a healer to get some experience and her animation looked like she could barely hold the lance and nearly tripped landing in a crit and ended up killing the guy…I was amused lol.

Ross as a Pirate is the way to go. Promote to a Beserker and watch him one shot units to death with his crit boost.

And IMO, all three “baby” units are worth raising. They usually end up being one of my strongest units due to them having 10 extra levels of growth IIRC.

And GBA games on 3DS? When was this?

Oh and I just checked out some FE3DS info on Serenes Forest and man does it make me wish I have a 3DS. A Vita for a P4G and a 3DS for FE3DS, looks like I got some money to raise. :shake:

Marcus Served a purpose? Drat.

My Party was always fucked up anyway.

Vaida for life Canas for life Matthew forever. Jaffar for the cool factor. Fimblevetre Nino etc. etc.

Fire emblem 9?

Nephenee. Nephenee NEPHENEE.

She is your Goddess and you will give praise and sing hymns of her glorious southern belle accent.

Yes get her up there. I really enjoyed her as a mounted unit.

Man I played the hell out of fire emblem…

But man FE feels like so much random to me now…

@SonicHuman

I upgraded to general… better stat gains in defense…

Make sure you level her up as a knight all the way up to 20 before promotion…

Her stat upgrades are mad dumb… she’s the fastest armor character in the game…

However that speed increase slows off during the next promotion…

As a great knight, her constitution is mad low…

All weapons she uses will slow the hell out of her…

Formula goes like

Constitution - Weight(of weapon)…

If you get a negative number, take that away from your speed…

Great Knight will limit her choice in weapons…

I got 10 GBA games as a part of the ambassador program for being one of the first people to purchase the 3DS before the price drop and Sacred Stones is among the 10.

Berserker eh? I will definitely keep that in mind.

And there’s a third ‘baby’ unit I gotta be on the watch for? Aight. So far Amelia has been doing pretty well even in her weak state right now…she’s starting out better than Ross did cause I was about bench his ass.

Thanks. If possible I want to turn her into a Pegsus knight so I can have a trio of units that can go wherever the fuck they feel like regardless of terrain.

Jaffar was cool but I never really utilized him well mostly because it was hard at the time to turn him without him either killing a unit or damaging someone enough that ended up throwing a wrench in my gameplan. So far though I’m liking Colm way more than any thieves I’ve used. He feels like a solid unit that I can send out on his own for a moment and get results. Him with Neimi support right now is what’s up.

IMO, you made the right choice to turn Ross into a Pirate. Despite not having as much vision in fog or darkness as Thieves, Assassins, or Rouges, he can still see a bit farther than ordinary units. And ultimately it’s up to you where you want to promote Ross from there. Either a Warrior with Axes and Bows, or a Berserker who solely uses Axes but has a CRT boost, extra vision in fog and darkness, and can cross oceans. But note that Ross has the last two abilities as a Pirate and promoting him to a Warrior will make him lose these abilities. And this is just my personal experience, but my Pirate -> Berserker Ross was fast enough to dodge sword attacks a good amount of the time, but his moderately low defense warranted me to give an anti-sword axe since swords can still hurt Ross a bit when they hit. The point I’m trying to make is that it’s best to give units who only have one weapon they can use a weapon that reverses the Weapon Triangle.

Also, spoiler alert, the last “baby” unit you get is named Ewan who is an apprentice magic user or something like that. He can either turn into a Mage or Shaman which then branches off into Sage, Mage Knight, and Druid and Necromancer respectively.

And I thought Amelia can only turn into a General, Great Knight, or a Paladin.

Yeah I"m just finding out that it doesn’t look like I can promote her to a Peg Knight…disappointment. And considering that Ross is the only land unit that can cross the water without worrying to death if he’s going to get tagged by some ship with Ballistae I think I will just promote him to Beserker when the time comes.

Someone actually found this thread? Awesome!

Yeah, Awakening is pretty much forcing me to get a 3DS as well.

They’re making a Fire Emblem for 3DS?

But I don’t want to buy one :frowning: Sad days ahead for my wallet.

I bought a 3DS in anticipation of this game. :U
