Finest KO Relaunch Preview (w/CvS2 Bible Question)

Finest KO is not dead. It was just in limbo for a lot longer than I thought it would be.

When I get it back up once and for all, I’m going to have frame data up for a few characters. Although you can get the exact same information from places like justdefend.com (bless them), I intend to corner the market on frame data information. Here’s a rough, early idea of what you can expect when I put the site back up next month:

Here’s some of Maki’s data. I’m basically going for the same style that is seen in the Famitsu CvS2 guidebook, but all translated and such. I was also inspired by Namonaki, while there was CvS2 frame data on that site. Unlike other frame data sites, I’m going to have the frame data for EVERYTHING, instead of just the normals, specials and supers. This includes dodge attacks and taunts, just to name two. Every character will have a full profile to boot. I hope to relaunch the site with 10 or so characters, adding a few more every week until the beast is completed.

If you’re wondering what those question marks down in the special move boxes are, I am too. The question, as promised in the topic, is that I can’t really make out what a box is in the guidebook. I grabbed the scan that’s been going around, but there’s a few things I can’t make out completely/don’t quite know:

The box title is “____ center guard” or something like that. I don’t recognize the first Kanji or the two characters also circled there. If someone could tell me what those mean, I would appreciate it.

Anyway, I still have video from three or four tournaments from April-June, and those will go up once I get my bandwidth raised toward the end of the year, as well as the video I will be taking here in SoCal now that the tourney season is back in action. Lots of video will be available by next year, I promise this.

I’ve also got a few ideas for articles kicking around in my head. Two, actually. One will make its debut with the relaunch (it’s a secret for now), and the other is quirk about being in a non-neutral position after the round is over. What are they? You’re going to have to visit the site when it’s back up to find out!

If you have any questions or comments about the site, especially the frame data setup, don’t hesitate to speak out!

The kanji are “kuu” and “chuu”, air and mid, respectively. The katakana reads “guard”. Put that together, mid-air guard! That cell in the chart refers to whether the move is air-blockable or not. The first move (maki’s run-stop) has a dash because it’s not even an attack. The second (the slide) isn’t air-blockable because it’s a ground based move… even though I’m having trouble picturing somebody air blocking a slide. The last move (the hop overhead) is air blockable.

edit: oops, didn’t read wraithco’s post above. -_-

i’d REALLY like to kno how people do jumping CC’s after a KO. i’m sure it has something to do with crouching animation.

if you can do infinites in A3 you will know…

well it depends, u can just usually just follow it up in the corner with hk/hp.

you can do jumping attacks by canceling it with a low attack after the K.O and jumping with a followed attack.

Well, that’s easy. They just hold up before the KO comes out, and continue holding up while attacking. A CC after a KO will continue as long as the joystick remains away from neutral as long as there’s meter left.

I think.

But no, my article won’t cover that, but rather, something slightly more useful.

And thanks to Wraith and Buk for helping me out with that box in the bible. Wraith, I did piece everything else together using both my Japanese reading skills and common sense, it’s just I didn’t realize what that single thing was.

I’m really happy about how my frame data pages are looking, I think once I get things going people will be looking forward to me updating them with new characters.

Keep an eye out for them, yeah?
