Hi, I have a question about safe jumps. I’ve seen people posting about discovered safe jumps, but I have no idea how to do it myself! I know how to find frame traps, but it seems difficult to find safe jumps. Do you need to know the number of frames in jump and wakeup? I hope someone has the answer. Thanks!
im assuming you mean in sf4. you just get a feel for them. Longer reversals are easier to safe jump like bison’s ex pc while faster reversals are harder to safe jump like guile’s fk. You can set it up in training to see if you’ve done it properly.
If you can find frame data for knockdowns and jumps, you can actually calculate the amount of frame advantage you have after you score a knockdown and find a move (or moves) to whiff for timing the jump. I’ve thought of doing this myself but I haven’t been able to find a good source for knockdown recovery or jump length data…
This has jump frames https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ArS1JTWz7Q_CdGVHalRVZklyX2ZJOF9Cdm5UbnozSGc&authkey=CJSI7oII&hl=en_US#gid=0
knockdown data is generally trial and error because while a character’s wakeup animation is the same length normally how long it takes them to get there is variable.
Finding a frame perfect meaty setup then reverse engineering the safejump is how I normally do it, but there is probably an easier way.
Hi. Can you explain the last part of this answer a bit? I have been playing around with Juri to find safe jumps and while I was able to find it by trial and error, I wasn’t able to implement the jump and wake up data.
