Yeah so I’m done with SFIV until console release for various reasons. Someone else will have to direct that game because I’ll be taking over the director duties for 3rd Strike instead.

on a side note, if nazir doesnt want to host the GGAC tourney coz he can’t make it, i’ll host it… given that there is enough interest, although i don’t see how we’ll pull it off if even ALMIGHTY ME doesn’t come lol

Is this still going down? The posters for the previous tournament were still on the cabinets last Friday. If the games and formats are going to be the same each time (in the foreseeable future at least), what we could do is design a poster that can be reused, such as having multiple spaces for dates, and the dates can be crossed off and added as required. That way there’s always sufficient notice and the boss wouldn’t have to take them down since it appears he doesn’t like doing that regardless. It’ll save paper too.

I was going to address this after I got back from SBIII but that really isn’t fair to anyone else. I have no interest in running this tournament at Lovegety. I frankly have no interest in Lovegety at this time. They have one game I gave a damn about and it turns out that it’s shit. They have two cabinets that could house CvS2 and they don’t bother because apparently an empty cab makes more money than a game than rhetorically makes no money. I drive an hour to play on 3S cabs that not only don’t work for one reason or another but are now not worth the time of a guy who used to really be on the ball. I don’t even know if Marvel is working.

I’ll be frank in saying I’m exploring running this tournament at Playscape. I’m waiting on confirmation of a tech being available and as soon as I have that confirmation I’ll be changing the venue. I’m also in contact with Playdium managment to ascertain the status of acquiring SFIV. Should they elect to pick it up I’ll be moving all GTASF related tournaments back to Playscape. There is little to no cross game played from the GGAC players and as such I will leave them to run their GGAC and/or BlazBlue tournaments as they see fit at a time of their choosing.

You’ve ran a few tournaments at lovegety now, if i recalled correctly, the manager was always there to fix button problems/refund eaten coins/whatever. Tournaments ran smoothly because the game with most entrants (3s) has 3 cabs to play on (although there is that version issue). People who actually did cross play games can do so because every game but cvs2 (actually i think cvs2 was there once?) was there.

You got fucked over at a casual session because either he really is becoming an asshole or there are communication problems or whatever, and you decide to boycott getty, whereas (im assuming, since it happened to gg players) orbit has fucked you over more than enough times during tournaments, during casuals, etc for the past years you’ve been there. I’m saying orbit because i don’t know how playscape is now since i’ve never been there, but im assuming its similiar.

I see people playing 3s and mvc2 everytime i go (after your issue), meaning the shit is fixed. Maybe he really was busy that day with something else, who knows, he can’t explain himself in english and nobody was there to translate, but all i know is everything is working fine now and the arcade runs with people constantly playing.

I really don’t see why you hold this grudge against geyty for something he fucked up once during casuals, when you go back to orbit/playscape even though (again im assuming) they’ve fucked up multiple times in casuals and tournaments. I think its mainly because he doesn’t have CVS2, and SF4 sucks (which isn’t his fault). And its a bit further than playscape or a less convenient location than playscape.

In all fairness, i don’t know how orbit treated you guys, maybe they just leave gg alone coz it doesn’t bring them money, like how getty manager ignores cvs2 because it doesnt bring him money.

I think the empty cabs are broken btw, not just empty coz he doesn’t feel like putting things in. Im sure if they were working he’d put in random shit like puzzle bubble or whatever, because those theoretically make more money than CVS2. I don’t even know how the getty manager treats you guys when im not there, so im just saying what i’m seeing. I will say that if theres any reason why hes not repairing those broken cabs (if they’re repairable) its because hes lazy and doesn’t know what to put in (which will make money worth his time)

But regardless, you’re the host, you can do whatever you feel like. I really don’t care because only getty has games i play. It doesn’t seem like any other game has interest as of now at getty, so its probably better off at playscape.

i just had to get this off my shoulders because i honestly don’t think getty is as bad and shitty as you say. I’ve been going there for 2 years now and i’ve been seeing quick repair services unless its some bigger issue.

I hope with your revival of playscape, you’ll keep the getty thread and toronto thread separate, since there WILL be 2 arcades instead of 1 :wonder: Really like you said, players who visit each toronto don’t cross play games and theres no reason to put them together anymore.

I agree with Pui Spam, better to leave how things were before at least more ppl can actually make it to playscape rather than trecking to LG, and i think one of the reasons our community as a hole has taken a hit because of location convinience. Same thing applies to the tekken crowd, there was alot of FL players who are just stranded now, moving those set amount of games back to playscape would resurect some faces.

Its a fact CvS2 @ ghetty is never going to happen so lets live with that. At least playscape has random ppl playing it every now and then so why not just work witht that. and yes i agree with the idea as well of leaving the forums alone for LG and toronto .

I figured you’d write and I don’t mind debating/argueing with you because it never really gets out of hand. See your impression is slightly skewed so let me give you some perspective. Let’s say you go to Lovegety three times over the last six weeks (its what I did before I blew up). Now let’s say you burn $30 before you’ve walked through the door (that’s what I do every time I go to Lovegety in gas). Now add an hour drive each way. I say YOU Pui because you’re very economical with your money. I say YOU Pui because you’re not willing to show up at your favourite arcade without a ride. Now Pui, put yourself in my shoes and tell me how’d you react when GGAC didn’t work properly each time you went.

The comparison between Playscape and Lovegety changes depending on the person involved. See I used to hit up ORBIT a lot. They’d have busted up cabs, and either Ky or Simon would fix them if they were there or they wouldn’t if they were absent. I didn’t hold the chubby idiot responsible because he didn’t know how to fix them. See if the chubby idiot (now that he’s trained) or Ky or Simon looked me in the face and said “no, I’m too busy” after sitting in his office doing nothing for 10 minutes you’d better believe that I’d have exploded. But they never did that. The ones trained fixed my cabs upon request. It’s the reason why I’d make sure a tech was available at ORBIT before I locked up a tournament date. I don’t have blind faith because I can’t afford to have blind faith. The chubby idiot fixes buttons now that he’s trained to do so. The scant few that have popped into Playscape over the last few months have all said that the cabs work great. The chubby idiot was trained, the chubby idiot fixes them. It’s all I can really ask for.

He has a 400 in 1. He refuses to fix it. He refuses to remove the HK on the 1P side. He’s essentially duped random people into playing on a cab that isn’t working properly. Is he lazy? possibly. It’s not acceptable for an arcade to run that way. To sit back and not take the basest of responsibilities for your services. He has a CvS2 board sitting in his backroom or wherever it happens to be collecting dust. He installs it, gives it a limited run, of which it’s broken more often than not (we’ve been over this) and then removes the board. The one tournament he gives us a shot to use it the cabinet never stops being used. 3:00pm - 2:00am we played CvS2. He has two empty cabinets. To give you the benefit of the doubt, they could be broken. However, when I asked about CvS2 he didn’t say “the cab is broken” he says “it makes no money.” See people will always look for the easy way out of an arguement. If he could definitively end it with “the cab is broken” in whatever fob english he’s capable of he’d have done it. He didn’t… it tells you something.

I don’t have a grudge against Lovegety. It takes me just as long to get there as it does Playscape (one is North of the 401, the other is east. I could care less). What it doesn’t have are games that I actually enjoy playing. It basically drew me in with Arcana Heart and then got rid of it. I loved going back to play Alpha 3 and then the cab broke. I love playing CvS2 and it’s been there exactly twice in all my very expensive (for an arcade casual) visits. But hey, the manager was a good guy and I’m picking up 3S so it’s all good. Except the manager was an asshole. My 3S cabs were broken. My waste of money time with Marvel was shot.

Make sure you spend two hours on the road. Take a lighter to $90 and have someone call ahead to make sure the games you play are fucked over.
