Final Fight: Double Impact

Yo wassup

I never understood the appeal of Final Fight/Streets of Rage type games.

Or Alien vs Predator, Cadillacs and Dinosaurs and Captain Commando.

you won’t unless you play it in the arcade, paying for each continue

Oh, hey there. Guess what: after a couple weeks, you will never touch this game again.

Replace Capt. Commando with The Punisher, and I’d support that. I never got into Capt. Commando, it’s too slow paced.

So. That’s good compared to a lot of other games that cost 5 times as much.

Capcom VP Christian Svensson has pretty much stated that those are out of the question since they’d have to actually port them and not just emulate the SNES.

Last time I touched a Magic Sword cab was maybe 15 years ago so my memory of the game may be a bit off, but does anyone else feel that there’s a lot of input lag in this release?

(cut & paste)

What kind of bullshit is this? I can’t play this game by myself without connecting to the internet first? There’s only an ONLINE single player function? What fucking sense does that make? And this is a PS3-only issue no less.

I understand that this is the digital age and everyone with a working life should have some sort of internet connection, but my issue has to do with location and service. Where I live, we can only connect via satellite. That means no Cable, DSL, FiOS, T1, etc…and my particlar satelite connection involves using a PC card that is plugged directly into a computer. This can not be used on a gaming console. I had to go to a friend’s house to purchase and download the game so I could take it home with me.

I own SF2 HD Remix, Marvel, and Puzzle Fighter, and none of them have this stupid issue with HAVING to connect online just to play your game alone. Final Fight Double Impact was a game I was very very very very excited for, and now it’s become a gawdamn $10 letdown and now I want my money back. I dunno if it’s Capcom or GGPO’s doing so I know I shouldn’t be pointing fingers so quick, but somebody should definitely look into this issue. That is just plain stupid, and it’ll be the last time I buy any Capcom/GGPO related media if they keep this up. You fuckers play Marvel, right? Then you should be familiar with the phrase “Do your job.”

Apparently, it’s an issue with the security option that Sony gave Capcom.

Then just have it on WiiWare, WiiWare has fucktons of NES and SNES on it. Granted PS3 and XBL owners would be missing out unless they have a Wii, but it’d be nice for those games to resurface again.

…and I agree with the person who brought up the Online single player thing. It makes no fucking sense what so friggin’ ever.

They’re already on VCA, albeit without online. Online would take too much effort then Capcom is willing to put into it, since it means that they’d actually have to make a SNES emulator that works on the Wii and has GGPO and not simply port GGPO/FBA to XBox and PS3.

Thanks for the info. I’m really bummed about this.

Magic Sword is too good man!

Just beat it again for the first time on psn, used to love playing this back in the day. Game is still hard even with infinite continues. Helpers are just as crucial as ever, thief/knight/ninja only for me.

Hahaha, final fight is THE BOMB. I already own about 3 versions of it already, it’s super easy mode button mashing gameplay, but it’s completely worth 8dollars to beat the crap out of literally thousands of mad gear douchebags, and the online co-op looks like it will be sweet when i actually get around to playing it. Capcom yet again succeeding at selling us a trip down memory lane…

BTW, as already posted, the 8 dollar pricetag is also a good way of supporting the use of the GGPO licence and letting capcom’s developers play around with it and learn it’s foibles before they put it in a “serious” fighting game release. Capcom licensing GGPO from ponder was the most promising development in fighing game netcode since HD remix, and it’s good to see them learning how to iron the bugs out of it and actually use it, rather than letting it gather dust somewhere, even if it’s for the sake of future games.

After all, 1 or 2 frames of input lag give or take is not going to make that much difference in a game like final fight, it’s hardly guilty gear or HD remix in terms of move execution, but I would much rather see GGPO working properly in a game that actually needs good code a year down the line, after they’ve given it a couple of test runs.

wow, you can’t even play this game without being connected online? a re-release of a 20 freaking year old game and you have to be on the internet to play it? Even though PS3 already has a system in place that limits the number of consoles that can share psn accounts to begin with… the plot thickens.

Are you serious?? I would’ve potentially bought this shit, went home to mash alone, and spazzed the fuck out.

Why would they do this? It’s a 20 year old beat 'em up, not Warhawk.

Idiots.

7 months later and still no more titles for console using ggpo netcode
