Has anyone else noticed the amano influences nomura is putting on all the characters. Everyone is dripping little flourishes of bead or extraneous sashes. Good stuff!
I think this game will feel a bit rough when it comes to the actual combat. Thinking KH2 or something, Ergheiz at worst, but what can we do.
I for one love to see FF2 getting some rep. Emperor Palamecia is still the most disturbing character in gaming. Can change genders at will, morbid glam rock appearance, something about ruling the palace of hell and befouling heaven after his ‘death’. 100% legit actions imo.
So far I have seen a lot of discussion about characters, which can help draw people to a game, but not much on how Square is going to make it work, which makes people want to keep playing it.
Square has made three fighting games that I know of: Tobal 1,2, and Ehrgeiz. Tobals aren’t popular. #2 didn’t even make it to the US. I remember it had a ton of characters.
Ehrgeiz was a good game but was killed due to its massive learning curve. Including Cloud and Tifa didn’t do much to boost the popularity, and this was the heyday of FF7. For the PS release Square added several other FF7 people to make a buck off the thing.
I’m skeptical until there’s more info on how this works. I mean more than the text we have on brave and EX burst and stuff.
Tel me about it I would love for the ff7 hero to be Cid or Baret just for square-enix to do a shit on all of the fanboys and girls. fo real I would be so happy a chance to play another charater that ain’t vincent cloud of sephiroth or tifa u get me
I agree bruv and it don’t help that when square enix did a hip hop influenced game “the world ends with you” next to allthe characters where white the fuck man square enix need to get real the whole world ain’t white and japanese don’t have blonde hair and wear rocawear. Hell I demand that the villains in final fantasy be black guys with kl abilites and fighting skills in suits instead of just giving them black skin and a perm or braids.
Japanese naturally don’t have pink, blue, green, (insert obscure color here) either…The World Ends With You was IIRC supposed to mimic the Shibuya district in Tokyo. So none of what the characters were wearing in that game had anything to do with ‘black’ or ‘white’.
I’ve also done a small bit of study on ‘anime’ in general and a lot of times when they draw characters they don’t really intend it to be any race in particular unless they specifically make it clear. Often times they just assume that you believe the character is japanese.
Because he is being voiced by Kenji Utsumi aka RAOH of Hokuto no Ken. And “if” he loses, he better raise his fist to the sky and turn to stone, but none of that, restoring the world’s light bs. He needs to drain that shit dry.
The official site now has sections for all 10 represented games, though the sections for 5, 6, and 7 are empty. The Cecil and Golbez profiles are up and the FF4 section has lots of new screenshots. Still waiting for the FF6 stuff.
Also, in the movies section is a high quality in-game movie of a battle. The player is Garland fighting the Warrior of Light. I didn’t feel as confused watching this fight as much as the Onion Knight vs. Cloud of Darkness vid posted some time ago. Anywho, this new vid is awesome. Maybe this will actually be a decent game instead of just a vehicle for people to play their favorite characters?
