Well I am a bit disappointed, but still voting Minette next round.

At this point, I will be happy with any character as long as it isn’t Minette. I don’t even know how she got this far.

I understand not liking a character (and I’m sure this topic has come up multiple times before) but what is with this virulent hate for Minette? Can anyone explain it to me without resorting to the already disproven “joke character”, "she doesnt fit in the story (Eliza who was supposed to make it into SG2 as the boss, just made it… sooo), or the equally annoying and misguided “waifu pick” argument?
Speaking for myself, my number 1 most wanted character is Minette, not because of her asthetics but because of her playstyle. I’m a fan of misdirection, haphazard, or outlandish fighting styles that defy the conventional norms. Thats why I’m 110% okay with Eliza (go back and check these threads, I’ve been voting for her through every round except this last one) making it, she fits that role to a tee! You’ll find zero salt from me on her inclusion. Her asthetic is awesome and her fighting style of risk/reward with the blood mechanic and Sehkmet will really be pretty sweet.
However, more than any character (even more than Aeon which if you look back less than 12 hours ago, people were still threatening refund requests if she made it in) Minette gets hate. Go check EH, check tumblr, check these threads here on SRK since Eliza’s victory everyone has become extra hateful towards her. Its one thing to be excited and another to have a competitive loyalty, but neither of those are reasons to hate. So with that in mind, can you explain to me (and everyone else who really wanted her in) why your hate is justifiable? Unless you have a cookie cutter opinion of “HURR DURR WAIFU SHIT” or “JOKE CHARACTERS ARE DUM LOLOL”,

I guess a large segment of FG players like to play actual fighters instead of dojiko waitresses? It really boils down to that. As far as I’m concerned, you can add the fact that LZ basically told us she wouldn’t be fighting as well. I guess, if it’s were Minette vs Stanley, I’d still prefer Minette by miles, but if the cast hits the 30 character mark and we start getting joke charas, plz let it be Yu-Wan. Triad Chef slicing his opponents into dishes (with on-screen animations too) is just plain cooler than any other dagonian at this point. Unless they decide to make Ottomo cool, then we might have a contender.
Thats fine to not like playing as a waitress, but that doesnt explain the level of animosity posed towards her. She would fight indirectly, not be an “unfighter” (Nor is Stanley) and who knows with her confidence mechanic maybe she’d start to bust out some more direct methods of fighting that Yu-Wan taught her? Its not unreasonable to assume that as a possibility since unfortunately we have to assume almost everything about all these characters.
Imagine this:
Your favorite fighting game just released a character poll and literally threw dozens of unique character designs at you. They’re all okay but a few of them catch your eye and you really really wanna play as the dude with tanks for arms. But your pick loses to Minette, a character who doesn’t really look that cool to you. And you don’t like the way she’d play. All of your hype for your character turns into resentment at the character that made it through in place of yours.
Does anybody think Minette and Aeon (And to a lesser extent, Annie) would have done better if their gameplay mechanics were shown in a video like Eliza?
I’d remember that this vote isnt only about me, but about everyone coming together and voting. If she doesnt make it in round 2 then thats that. The majority spoke and she wasnt the desired 5th character, okay move on. Especially if its already my favorite fighter, that implies I already have characters I love and use on a regular basis right? True its a bummer I didnt get another character, however the inclusion of the 5 new characters should bring in new fighters/fans (my friend already said he’d start playing because Eliza won, thats great news!!) who previously didnt have a single character.
I dont know thats just how I feel. I want Minette, but will be happy regardless.
I honestly do and especially with how much Mike wants Minette in the game (he’s already expressed that he has a pretty definite idea of what he’d do with her and was really excited anout it) I hope he does. Honestly I wish he’d do one for everyone but thats a lot of work and a lot of time spent that we dont have…
