That wasn’t the underlying question. The implied question was “Why do people hate Minette?”
Since Minette made it to the top 4 these people asking this are putting too much emotional investment in anyone who vocally disparages her.
I hate Minette because she isn’t a fighter. Her very introduction to us was Ms. Fortune saving her ass. The fact she is totally helpless and her fighting style revolves around other people sticking up for her is very aggravating.
The bullshit is raised to another level when it was pointed out she powers up like Dark Pheonix. Her mechanics on how she gains uber powers is nothing like DP but the end result of her being ridiculously strong compared to her level 1 incarnation is the same.
Typically I find characters to be endearing badasses is if they go through a believable transformation into becoming the baddasses they need to be (see Wesley from Buffy to Angel, or Cody in One Piece, or Bart Simpson vs the Bullies). Minette’s transformation doesn’t come from a place that logically translates into her character becoming tougher in the face of adversity.
I’m talking about the people who seemed obsessed with getting another male in just for the sake of having another man in. Wanting another male character in is fine if you like the character, but some people just seem to explode when the see male’s in the DLC vote. It’s annoying.
I just wish people weren’t so mean to her (along with Stanley). It’s one thing to dislike a character but it’s another to me extremely harmful and mean to her.
I’d rather be doing ridiculous over the top pro-wrestling moves, or be a boxing scientist shark with lasers and shit, or be using as an immortal little girl that fights like a seasoned warrior, or be bitch slapping people with a tank than doing clumsy waitress themed attacks with some stupid fish loli.
As far as appearance and story, Minette is lame compared to most of the other cast members.
I’m not a fan of her supposed gameplay either.
She just isn’t cool, and her un-coolness doesn’t work the way characters like Roll and Dan make it work.
Every time someone states their own opinion as fact “Minette is not as interesting as the rest of the characters”, God kills a doberman.
He does this because if he killed a kitten, it would not have the intended effect on these people; kittens are not manly enough.
They would probably just laugh heartily and then arm wrestle each other.
These people don’t like Minette because they don’t like her.
They can formulate infinite reasons as to why it is the correct opinion, but in the end it is just their opinion.
The best plan of action is to ignore the hate and vote for her again!
I just wish people would give her a chance and Stanley a chance and not make them bad by saying nasty comments.
I mean it’s one thing to say that you dislike a character and you don’t think there as interesting as the rest, but it’s another to be rude and not give them a chance.
If Andy or Panzerfaust win, I’ll still give them a chance even if one is a boxer with limited moves and another only has a tank as an interesting part of them and are both nothing more then a egret and peacock minion with a small story.
Also this is Skullgirls their is no such thing as a boring character. I’m even find Robo Fortune cool and will give her a chance and she well… Is Ms.Fortune with some exceptions
Let’s play devil’s advocate and ask why is there actual venomous hate for Panzerfaust? There will be no factual answers to the irrationality behind so many people disliking him.
With inspirations from, Juggernaut, Hulk and Mech-Zangief, it’s pretty safe to assume he’s going to have a lot of super armor on his attacks. This will have a very clear effect on the metagame as we’ll have a character with armored anti-airs, and reliable armored assist moves. Also a high damage / low combo fighting style will add a some much needed variety to the combo heavy play styles we have right now.
Panzerfaust also has BB Hood inspiration, probably from his tank arm. He might have a missile zoning game similar to BB Hood, so he will have tools to fight up close and from a distance. His tank arm doubles as a massive chainsaw, can we say easy hit confirms and chip damage?
Did somebody say lore? He just happens to be an Egret Super Soldier, so he’s directly connected to Parasoul’s story line.
An 11:1 female to male ratio is extremely lopsided, adding another male character to the roster would bring more diversity to the game then adding yet another female character.
I, personally, don’t like him because he is a big bodied tank character. These types of characters usually attract scrubs who abuse super armor and don’t go for anything complicated. I’m not saying that these types of characters only attract scrubs (I’ve seen a lot of amazing tech from Hulk players in UMVC3 for example), but they will bring in the type of people that I despise online.
You you Minette fans probably wouldn’t get all this hate if you stopped making threads in every damn Skullgirls forum asking why she is hated so much. Why do you care so much? Obviously she can’t be as hated as you guys think since she made final 4. You ask why we hate her and we give you our reasons and then complain that we’re stating our opinions as fact. I’m sorry but you have to accept that the stupid adorable/cute factor doesn’t actually appeal to a lot of people which is another reason why she’s hated.
A cute adorable waitress gets in over a dude who turns women into instruments and fights with a parasitic violin woman. You should be able to understand why people would be a little upset over that. And one more thing Peacock, you’re talking as if she is real and has actual feelings. She’s fictional man, stop treating her like she’s some real thing. That’s the “waifu” thing that people are talking about.
What alternate universe have we fallen into where Panzer is receiving actual recorded hate equal/greater to Minette (or top4 Aeon) or is this all hypothetical fun? All I’ve ever seen is either a milquetoast response or mild forms of disapproval/disliking. Personally I have no beef with Panzer, just noted that his archtype (big bruiser with super armor) already existed in some form within SG cough Cera cough . Seriously Wolfe your arguments are becoming less and less sensical. Are you drunk? You aren’t driving home are you?
