Ultimate Strange isn’t as Strong as the Real Dr. Strange, so that isn’t much of an accomplishment. Also, The Skrulls and Osborn both failed, Hulk became savage again and the New warriors were just fodder and the SHRA has been eliminated and it was Nitro who caused the explosion and Wolverine and Namor made sure he didn’t get away with it, so those examples are moot because they too failed. Fact is, those still pale in comparison to Dormammu’s usual plans.
And he did defeat Eternity and he did Recreat the universe. You also forget what he was doing during Dark Reing and even before that.
Also, Dormammu is someone who conquered multiple realms including the Dark Dimension itself and he conquered Some of the Hell realms as well.
What similarities ? One is a Dimension Lord and the other is a Mad Scientist.
Why would they show the boss this early? You can also see his silhouette with the other playable characters, even at the end of the Demo’s.
Why would they give an extremely powerful villain a significant intro of his own at the very end of the trailer if he was really just another random character? Only real argument against him I can think of is that he’s relatively obscureish.
I was going to say Galactus as a final buss, but now that I think about it, I think Sentry/The Void or Annihilus would work better in a Fighting Game like Marvel…
Sentry and Void have the two-form that people have been saying the vs. Games are known for, and Annihilus is a purely evil guy who has threatened the universe and has the individual power to hang on a galactic level (if he had the Power rod)
He’s almost already in the MvC3 style. We haven’t had a boss with “wings” like this so to speak.
for Capcom it’s really only two people I can think of, Wesker is a great planetary threat, while Dr. Wily or the Goddess boss from BoF3 as a galactic threat. Well, actually even Dr. Wily could conceivably build a robot master capable of taking on the marvel universe…with Sigma.
I think the fact that Dormammu was revealed so early but still hasn’t been put in gameplay is a dead giveaway in that respect…
Seriously, why does anyone not think he’s the big bad? He gets an epic entrance, still hasn’t been shown in game, and canonically he’s excessively powerful.
No it’s not, that’s still just speculation. We don’t have confirmation one way or another. Also, his silhouette is seen with the other characters, even in the demos.
As for being excessively powerful, so is Shuma-Gorath and he was playable. We also had the Demon lord Blackheart and on the Good guy side, we have Thor.
Also, the exclusive Comic Con T-shirt has him facing off against Viewtiful Joe.
