i have been playing this game for little time now and have found ways over all types of teams charectors and cheese,but i cant find a way to stop a good strider/doom team.its like the match will start and my magneto will die out or swicth out without getin one hit in.and that shits gets me mad cause all i need is one hit to kill him but i can never get it.so can you guys help me out and tell anything you know that will help me win against this ever so anyoing team.
keep your mind focused on geting the hell outa dooms way. take this battle off the floor and you’ve got him. depending on if strider has another assist that is. i haven’t personally done this with mags but i have quite a few times with storm. if you can effectivlly avoid the rocks then he’ll be forced to try to ground you and go to great lengths to do this.
my best strat is to match his assist. drop tron on doom or drop doom when he calls the tiger, this way your doom cancels his out, and he won’t telelport in to rocks and possibly not do ouroboros. tron will get rid of the rocks well and if you manage to get behind the doom with tron, oouuch.
storm i know is a little different fight but try using his slide’s length to your advantage. if your close when he starts the trap, call your doom and slide, ythen super jump cancel it into em disruptor to take out doom before the rocks start up. on the switch i use storms crouching fierce into typhoon so i’m going with this based on experience and related techniques.
other then that i would say stick to what you know best. strider is played aggresive but mags is faster and can simply tell him to stop because he is more top-tierer then him. remember not to give him any ground, ie. capcom get beat out by rocks, drones don’t quite cancel the rocks. but an opposing doom will win if yours is first, whichever is called first will get the priority which in this case the rocks will just cancel the other rocks out. which is good for you because it stops the trap.

SD is easy with mag. Strider players cant get it out of their heads that he can take full damage at any given time so even tho they are best played aggressive, they do know that they have to be extra carefull. use lots of em’s at random on most. when he starts the orbs, depending on his assist, cancel it out with a tempest. some of them will try to match you and actually attack you but, in the end strider WILL lose more damage.with storm just typhoon like crazy, cr. RH XX typhoon. Use his weak stamina as an advantage. and widdle him down, piece by piece. if u have psy wait till u have at least 2 or 3 bars, as soon as doom is almost done, alpha his ass and XX; XX. With strider all u need is one short short psy … ( which is all you should need )
A strong s/d is a tough match for mags. There are weaknesses in the trap though. Using ur assist you can capitlize in the holes of the s/d trap. After strider’s orbs end there are two things he’ll likely do:
-
a short combo of delayed hits in order to keep you in blockstun until doom’s rocks hit you, which will be his chance to reactivate orbs.
-
call doom, teleport to the other side, then throw an animal and reactive orbs.
In in first scenario doing an alpha counter after his orbs end works well. As he’s trying to keep in blockstun with a combo alpha counter to psy/cyke/cable (depending on your mag team) then with psy/ccyke you’ll be able to cancel the alpha counter with a super (and even a DHC, if you have enough supers). WIth cable, do his anti-air alpha counter then wait for doom to drop down and then AHVB. However strider has an answer to the cable alpha counter method if you do decide AHVB Doom.
Still pertaining to scenario 1, often times calling you AAA after the orbs is enough, cuz strider will be knocked down, giving you a chance to escape…Of course AAA’s like psy will take some damage but hopefully with this change in momentum you’ll be able to put strider back on his heels. Lastly, there are a couple ways for strider to keep you completely in blocktun until after Doom’s rocks hit, at which point, even your AAA will be out of range to hit him. If you don’t have supers, and you know opponent runs his trap this way, the easiest answer…pushblock the attacks he throw just as the orbs end. Then, even if he has called doom and tries to teleport above you, you can either superjump out, or call your aaa.
Scenario 2…someone who calls Doom before orbs end, teleports to other side, the attacks and reactivates orbs…use a AAA…this method of the trap is laced with holes…I used to work on it alot, and it sux. After your AAA hits, escape. If you AAA was psy, use a shockwave to push strider away from her after she hits him. Otherwise she might take alotta damage.
-General rule to throw off anyone’s S/D trap-> pushblock the first hit he throws immediately after orbs are gone.
PMD: in my opinion its hard to beat s/d with mags cuz his animals can make rushdown difficult, and Doom makes it worse. It’s kinda easy for him to set up the trap on mags.
to add on to what i said earlier:
besides being off the ground there are other ways to get out of it.
doom is a slow starter so if he does as in the above post where they call doom, teleport then activate ouroboros. get behind doom and do slide + trone tempest. that hrts like some thing fierce. if strider is full screen then hes have to wave dash in, ( that wouold be stupid because hed end up having to block the tempest) or jump or teleport in. teleporting would mostly resulyt in him landing right in the tempest and jumping would to. if he does any of those then theres a good chance hell end up getting screwed so its a fairly safe idea. that combo does about 120 pionts of damage, (which is roughly 2/3 of a bar) so after one of those you probably wont see doom for a while.
on the other hand throwing em disruptors randomly IS NO GOOD. mags has some bad lag on them so if they wont hit strider dont do them unless you covered by an assist that hits behind you as well or the char assist your using is huge like sent.
imo the best assist to have is iron man (b) cause it hits everywhere. as soon as you see a doom then call im and get behind doom for sweep tempest (75 or so damamge) . sttrider is then going to teleport into im which will be blocked most likely, but on the other habd if it hits does some serious damage.
EMS do indeed work. When strider is at a distance, he has two options
1.Throw dog
2.Teleport/Attack
Ems cancel out the dog, therefore hed have to teleport to get close.
Stay off the ground, and youll avoid The doom trap. Preferably i keep him at a good distance, so that i can control space. AS soon as he orbs, Tempest XX Hailstorm.Ive seen more random attacks hit strider effectively than well timed attacks, and im not quite sure why that is. i consider it very tough to go up against mag’s in rushdown even with strider doom, when the potential pay off is mainly block-damage. A good mag will get around 90% of the s/d’s out there. Just dont concentrate on comboing him, hitting him randomly seems most effective, When u attempt tp combo and crossup, thats when u get hits by the doom assist often times.
I try to stay in the air by super jumping a lot and calling proj assists. Strider can’t really hang when he can’t abuse Doom and teleport. Surprise supers are useful as well. It just really isn’t that big of a problem for me.
You CANT be serious. . .block damage is a sweet reward, especially when a good S/d can deal about 90-95% of Block damage alone if they know what they’re doing. From what I’ve been through, all I can do is call AAA like Cyclops Ken or Jin.

Build meter and counter out. This matchup is something you want to avoid. Sometimes you can trade a snapback w/ 1 of Strider’s attacks and force in Doom.
S/D is a hard match if you dont have a good anti air.
Just stay random with mag, and remember if strider throw a dog you can S. Hk and it will go right thru you.
IMO best teams to beat S/D is
Mag/storm/Sent (drones)
Mag/Cable/cyke
sent/cable/cap

strider cant handle blackheart when hes poking and throwing up everywhere

You guys really think this stuff works?! I wanna play you guys! :karate: Don’t get me wrong, some of the posts were very solid (especially Audioproject’s). But I’m still laughing about someone saying that Strider can’t handle Blackheart. Strider RAPES Blackheart. And when Blackheart’s done getting raped, Strider beats him into submission until he bends over and says “Thank you sir. May I have another?” :lol:
It’s a very bad matchup for Mag. Try using Cyke’s AAA. It counters doom. If you play storm, try using her. She has a much easier time with Strider.
yeah the best to use against strider/doom is magz/storm/sentinel.

ok ok. i’m also having a hard time beating S/D with only mags. I switch to storm for that matchup. If ever, here are some tips for magneto:
1.keep off the ground
2.be patient enough to wait for a chance
3.use a really good assist
kicking doom’s head is a good strat.
tron’s assist into five fierce will send strider home crying. :crybaby: Only problem is Doom’s AAA beats Tron.
